Good morning, could anyone advise on the process for the annual reporting? And what the potential consequences are if done a few months late? I have a valid reason due to hospitalisation. Best regards.

Good morning Repton, There is no annual reporting if you are staying inside Thailand. The only reporting to be done if you are staying in Thailand is to the police as per your Red police book which is like 5 years. For your resident permit, only if you go outside Thailand you must come back within Thailand with 365 days as per the last page of your Permanent Resident Permit and must have gotten your re-endorsement.

If you are outside Thailand they are normally very strict and would loose the resident permit and would have to start again, but you might want to drop an email to the immigration office. I have a friend who has PR and was very late to come back due the covid situation and immigration was very lenient in his case.

A PR holder name goes into the blue book. I don't know if it must be listed, but having your name in the blue book certainly helps with documentation from time to time. Like getting your renewable of a driver's licence. No need to ever show your passport again when getting a driver's licence. Show your red book and blue house registration book. My advice to you is get it done as quickly as possible. Nothing to do with the Puyai Baan. While getting the blue book, get your pink ID card.

    Thanks.

Just got back from the Amphur office here in Banglamung.

Need next to copies of all the books including the work permit she saw and the marriage certificate a legalized, and certified by the MIFO  a translated to Thai language copy of the first page of my passport.

That and 2 Thai's with bluebook and Id card for the next visit together with my wife who is the owner of our house.

fyi, for anybody trying to get on the blue Tabiaan Baan book here also.

Congratuations. Gotmy PR 27 years ago.

As we all know all of these processes can be a bit different ;pcation by location.

When my PR book was issued the same lady asked, "what tabien baan book will your name go into'?

I didn't own property at that time. The Thai friend who was driving me around that day instantly asked the lady 'can he go on my Tabien Baan record*? And he instantly offered his Tabien Baan sheets.

The lady did a 1 second scan, no questions asked, and she then quickly hand wrote my name/details on the sheets.

The friend/driver wasn't asked to sign anything.

*This was before the Tabien Baan system was computerized and Tabien Baaan books started to be used.

thank you very much Scorecard. Very happy to have received the pr.

I suspect that the Amphur officer at my Hr spoke to dont know what the Pr is or that they are mistaking it with the 3 months certifcate of residence one can get.

Then my question would be if anybody would have any link or document where it is stated by the government that a Pr holder must be listed on a blue tabiaan baan.

    many thanks

  4. Hi There,

I am off to go to the district office today to be put into the blue tabiaan baan after receiving my Pr and police red book a few days ago. Now my Hr called ahead to the district office to make sure i can go in the tabiaan  baan, but they told her a certificate of the Pujai Baan of my tesssabaan is needed. Is that correct? Or are they making it unnecessary difficult? Is there any document to show that a Pr holder is required by law to go into the blue tabiaan baan? as my supsicision is that they dont know and are making steps up?

Advice would be appreciated as always

I don't think you need a letter of any sort. I traveled with my son when he was then 8 years old to my home country and needed no letters. He had both Thai and NZ passports. I presume his surname is the same as your surname?

Thank you very much for you reply.

yes, our surnames are the same in both his passports, so it would be the same situation then, so that is a relief. Appreciate your time to reply.

  6. As an aside to my above approval for my resident permit, would anyone know if i need an approval letter of some sort, if i take my son alone with me to Europe to visit his grandparents? He is 5 years old and has dual Nationality. Any advise would be appreciated. I realize this might not be the correct forum to ask, but it seems like a very knowledge section on all things immigration related.

    Thank you!

FYI, I received a call from my IB officer that my application was successful and that I can make an appointment to pay the 192k fee and pick up the PR book. It seems other applicants also received a call as she mentioned that the slots to pick up the PR book for next week are filling up.

Thanks for letting me know Cocoonclub. My wife did get the call yesterday from the immigration officer also for my approval. So looks like there can be some weeks in between for all applicants being processed. Luckily no rush to go and collect the resident permit, as i am flying to my home country for 3 weeks and it can be done after this, i got informed.

Has anyone of you heard anything back yet? Just wanna make sure I’m not the only one who’s still waiting for response.

    Hi Cocoonclub,

I am from the same class as you and was thinking of dropping a similar message as did not hear anything either.

Did though, receive on the day of my 1st extension, 3 of the same forms for future extensions of our "under review visa" for the next visits. So it sounded like an 1 year and half minimum, before hearing anything.

  9. Not Sure if it was posted already, but looks like the application window for this year is open.

Unfortunately, now news yet from my 2021 application, so i guess no news is good news. Or did anybody from the class of 2021 already receive any info r approval? Would be delighted to know or receive any news on it.

    Thanks

    Hi Jombangkok

    Contact details
    The Correct

    Translation Service

    080 186 9186

    [email protected]

Name is Natta Sakulchai, nickname Joy

I paid 1800 TBH for i think 3 pages plus mailing fee

Suggest you get her line contact details or her email and then sent her pictures or scans of the documents you need translated. She will check if all stamps are ok and if the Thai ministry of Foreign affairs will accept or if you are missing something. She will then already work on the translation until she gets the official documents from you, which need to be attached to the translation as part of the legalization process.

    Hope that helps.

Hello. I have started to look closer on the documents required (a bit slot but hey) and I have some questions that I hope someone could answer. As people state you can do it all alone, I guess it should be doable, however I am quite confused on some points.

I am reading the list from the Required documents link here: https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?page_id=1744 specifically on page 2 - "DOCUMENTS REQUIRED WHEN APPLYING FOR A RESIDENCE PERMIT IN THE CATEGORY OF WORKING/BUSINESS (October 2021)"

First thing that might make me confused is the fact that this is the requirements for both WORKING as well as BUSINESS, as in "Running a business". There is a distinction between them which is laid out in this document on point 3.2 where 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 notes someone running a company, whereas 3.2.3 is for someone just working.

Here is the list for convenience:

Let's me focus on a few:

    3. I can get a police check from here in Thailand somehow? As my domicile is here.

    4. I do not have a bachelors degree, do I just skip this or do I submit the documents I have (courses at uni done) and a note to explain?

    5. Does this place "Office of Foreign Workers Administration (Work Permit), Department of Employment Library" actually have a list of my employment history as well as copies of my work permits (dating back to 2015!?). I probably have digital copies only.

7-8: I have PNG90/91 for 2021, and 2019. But digitally. It says to have PNG90/91 for 3 years prior to 2022, so I need for 2019, 2020, 2021. I've also never ever seen a PND50 nor PND1. Am I able to get this from the department of revenue if I go there?

9-16: All seems to relate to being a company. Are all of these irrelevant for me who is applying under the "working" category (as opposed to business). Or does my employer need to provide some of these?

In general, "officially certified" means a stamp from the related place?

Thanks to anyone who can answer on this!

On the degree and the police report, ( in my country it gets translated to "Declaration towards behaviour") i found them the most cumbersome to obtain.

The police report, has to be from the country of your passport. For degrees, you need to have them translated in English, certified by a legalized translator (who will take it to a local court), then have it legalized by the ministry of foreign affairs in the country of your passport and once that is done, you have to take it to the Thai Embassy of your home country to be stamped and confirmed as being authentique. Only then you can have it translated in Thailand by a Thai Translator who will need to go to the Thai Ministry of Foreign affairs in Bangkok, to have both legalized for Thailand and only then the Immigration will accept these.

If your home country is english speaking, or on the police document is as well English is written, the Thai Embassy of your home country might accept it without the need to have it translated or certified by the ministry of foreign affairs in your home country.

For both these documents, my brother in law went to the ministry of foreingn affairs in my home country and to the Thai Embassy there. And he had to make multiple trips. For the education degree it counts to your total, for passing the basic requirement, however you should go to Cheang Wattana and discuss with the officers there if they would accept your application without it. (myself i have bachelor degree, not masters, but you get different points for different levels i believe)

Also, be aware that after you get both these document legalized by the Thai Embassy and sent or take to Thailand not every translator is able to get this done as it needs to be done quite precise. If you want, i can sent you the contact details of the  lady i used, who used to work at that department and who got all translations done without any issues. Before i got her by the HR from my work, i went to various translators in Pattaya to get it done, but in the end they quoted absurd prices without confirmation or guarantee on the legalization part.

Last point on the police report from your home country. It needs to be less then 3 months old. I applied 2 years ago, but due to some issues coming from Covid i could not apply the first time, then went a year later, with the nearly one year old police document and they would not accept it. Even though i could prove i did not leave the country due to covid, as they could see it from my passport. Good thing though, is that as this document takes time to obtain, immigration will accept your application, if all your other documents are in order, a proof that you have paid for this document and it in process of coming to Thailand. (I gave mine Mid January this year, after the application was already accepted.)

Apologies for the long post, but hope it helps.

    Ant.

  12. Thank you very much for the advice Scorecard. Will drop them an email.

Did try in the past to call to the immigration directly but never managed to get anybody on the phone. Got the impression that they prefer the person to come in person to Chaeng Wattana with any question, hence the number might be slowly staffed ;0), but as it is for me an over 2 hour drive up and down would like to circumvent that if possible.

    Thanks!

  13. Good morning.

    I have a question.

Currently my application for PR is under review and i get the 6 month stamp for extension because of it. In November i will be traveling to my home country and will be back before this extension stamp expires. Would i still need to go to Chaeng Wattana to have any forms filled in or get any new stamps in my passport or am i ok to travel and return to Thailand on this visa with my PR application still continuing?

Would appreciate advise from anyone who knows, to avoid any issue later.

    Thank you.

From several people's experience within the past two years, if you use an agent and pay "VIP service fees" you won't be interviewed until later.  But for those applying directly themselves, a several hour informal interview in Thai about the application, at the time of application, is likely.

Would be happy to hear that this has changed this past year, if someone has very recent experience of applying without paying "VIP service fees."

    Hi Misty,

As per my experience, having done the application in December 2022 and not having paid any VIP service fee to any agent, it was as follows.

Been to Chaeng Wattana about 3 times in November and December, before having my application accepted (mostly the concerns were on the tax payments by the company i am working for and having to request a new criminal record check from my country, as the one i used to apply for the previous year was no longer valid). To have my application accepted i was required to bring by wife and son. We were brought to one of the seperate offices where the senior officer would go again one time thru all documents and were deemed in order. During that time the officer prepared a document i had to sign and my finger prints were taken and had to pay 7600 TBH.

About 2 months later, the senior officer asked, by contacting my wife, to come again to Chaeng Wattana were we went over my file and she asked for some background information on where i met with my wife etc and she was taking notes. I got the impression this was done as much to cross check i had a real family history as it was for the officer to familiarize with the candidate for when the file would be discussed with other departments and she would have to give some more background. This all took about 30 minutes in a very laid back atmosphere, where my wife spoke as much if not more then me with the officer.  At the end the officer explained that i would get a call to come for the interview for the interdepartmental board. This interview i had on the 26th of April.

This interview, went exactly as I read from earlier references on this thread. This will be the most challenging part if you are not confident on your Thai language skills, as it will be various questions asked by various officers regarding your application and about you personally. I found some questions difficult to hear and understand due to the social distancing, mouth masks and acrylic screens between myself and the board. I think it helps, by what i did, that is preparing a short story about myself which i learned by heart. This did fill up some of the time of the interview and maybe gave an better impression of my Thai fluency then it really is. Most questions i understood, however one took a few times rephrasing. The whole thing took probably around 15 minutes.

After that i am now excitedly waiting to hear if I passed the interview and what would be the next step. When i went for my 6 months stamp for my visa i did ask about the interview and got the impression that, you should not worry as nobody fails, but not sure if i interpreted that correctly. When getting the stamp it did sound like it would take at least another 6 - 12 months, before hearing if the application is approved.

    Hope that helps.

Is this the 6 month extension visa for those under PR consideration? If so, that is interesting. I read that they were discontinuing it.

May I also ask - I hope I'm not prying- why you are applying for this one instead of just continuing with your original extension of stay reason? Sorry if I'm being too personal.

Yes, my application is currently under review and i opted to get the "Under review stamp visa" in my passport over the yearly working permit visa i had. Main reason that at the time of applying in my sector of work there was still quite some job uncertainty or potential to be made redundant. Then with this stamp there would not be the requirement to scramble around urgently if being made redundant. Now luckily that likelihood has reduced now with the borders opening.

Anyway getting this "extension visa" is painless and free of cost, other then the travel and it means i just have to go one more time to immigration, opposed to the yearly visit for the work permit one.

  16. Had to go yesterday to Cheang Wattana to extent for the first time my "under consideration" stamp of my application (applied December 2021). For who has to go also, they asked for a TM25 to be brought. I attached it here or one can download it after googling "TM 25 Thailand immigration".

I did not bring my mine, so they gave me 3 copies, one for yesterday and or the next visits. So looks like they expect it to take at least 1 more year before receiving the final verdict. I did ask how about the interviews, as i said i was excited to know if ok or not, but she said not to worry. so at least some relief ;o)

Nice thing about it, i arrived at 11:00, was number 2 of the day and could processed immediately. In and out in 20 minutes, instead of the long queues at the other desks.
