  1. Random cheap boxes aren't worth it in my opinion, they are buggy and usually drop support quickly - meaning you'll have to buy a new box sooner to keep supported versions of apps. Meanwhile I have a Mibox 3 (2016) and an Nvidia Shield (2015) and they are both great. Mibox 3 got updated all the way to android 10 and Shield is on Android 11 now and still better than most boxes despite being 7 years old. If I were going to buy a new box today it would be Chromecast gen4 with Googletv. That's google's official box so it should have support for a long time and be the least buggy because the OS is being designed for it. That 64 GB is storage built into the box, non-removable. I wouldn't recommend the box though for all the reasons I mentioned above.
  2. Pantip plaza is the way to go. Just ask around and someone should be able to help. If you just accidentally quick formatted the drive for a fresh install and the drive isn't damaged or encrypted recovery should be simple. That shouldn't cost more then 6000 baht and honestly even if you're not tech savvy you could probably follow a guide yourself - you'd just need a live usb / adequate storage for the files you want to save.
  3. You'll have to do some troubleshooting. First step you could just to transfer files onto your device before playing them for awhile to determine if the external HDD is the problem or use a different media player (like mpv) and see if that fixes things. If it seems like VLC is the problem just uninstall and remove userdata before reinstalling and that might fix the problem. VLC also has a logger under tools that should help shed some light on what is happening under the hood.
  4. At this point globally we've failed to eradicate COVID but now that pretty much everyone's immune system has seen some form of it (vaccine or infection) and it's mutated to be less severe it's becoming just another seasonal illness we're going to have to deal with from time-to-time. That's not to say that the original reactions were stupid or worthless, as they statistically saved a ton of lives and if the world had worked together better especially on an individual level we maybe could have eradicated this illness instead of where we are now. But yeah, time to get on with life.
  5. Pretty much the same concept as that except you just set up a VPN instead of using teamviewer. If your work goes through an employer with a local IP you might be able to have them set up a VPN for you or if you have friends and family in the location you want your IP you stand up a vpn server on their network. Those sorts of low-profile/residential IPs won't get banned by georestriction services. Bigger VPN companies will likely have shorter rollings outages, smaller VPN companies might work for longer but also have longer outages. Renting a VPS to use as a VPN is hit and miss with a datacenter ip address. TOR has more endpoint security issues and a ton of sites try to block it as well. So there really isn't a much better solution if you depend on reliability.
  6. Yeah you're being georestricted by Amazon which means you would need a VPN/Proxy to get around it. Depending on how the site settings they might also try to block VPNs which is like a game of whack-a-mole. There are some limited free VPNs that might suit your needs if you're just doing some normal banking/investment stuff infrequently. Opera (the web browser) offers a free one that's pretty trusted. Microsoft Edge announced that it will have a free one for up to 1GB of data a month soon too. If that doesn't work I would go with free trials and find a VPN that works with your site. If it's really important that you always have access to this site for work or something you might want to set up your own personal VPN linked to a low-profile ip instead of one connected to big VPN companies.
  7. youtube-dl is the gold standard for downloading videos from a ton of popular sites. https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl There's pretty good documentation on how to install and use it. The command line interface can be intimidating at first but it's really quite simple. For you once it's running just type youtube-dl --format mp4 link-to-facebook-video If a video doesn't have mp4 and you want to re-encode then: youtube-dl --recode-video mp4 link-to-facebook-video
  8. True and AIS both have bad websites but are the best mobile data providers in Thailand. You should be fine with either of them. You'll have to talk to your landlord if you want home internet and see what's acceptable but you'll likely be dealing with True or AIS there too. The best bang for your buck will likely be a prepaid sim card with unlimited data at a rate that suits your needs, because you'll want a sim and cellphone data for traveling anyway.
  9. Did you ever figure out your issue OP? If it is caused by traffic shaping you might be able to get around it just by forcing encryption in your torrent client settings (free), or get a free trial to a VPN and see if that solves your issues. Seedboxes are great for some use-cases like if you have an ISP data cap and care about your torrent ratios but otherwise a VPN/proxy would solve your issues just the same and cost less. And the VPN will come with the added benefit of getting around some georestrictions as well.
