Reading though the topics, I see many pics etc, but it will be great to have a place centerred on first hand reviews of strains purchased.
Specifically I am interested in reviews of the varieties sold by the Lampang farm. I bought some low priced strains from them in the past (thai stick, green crack) and want to try something better.
Bump... any favorable strains..?

I am looking at KGI and Globlex. Both also provide API access (orders and market data) for both Equity and Derivarives which is something I might want to use apart from longer term investing.

Just my own opinion on what the stock price will do and buy a call warrant or put warrant accordingly.
Got it. So bascially you're doing swing trading based on technical analysis, using the derivarives for leverage?
Appreciate your answers.

What broker are you using?
I didnt open an account with a Thai broker yet. From what I have seen, a WP is required. I dont have a WP. Is this a must? Which brokerage firm do you recommend?

I have traded the SET for nearly two decades. Nowadays I mostly trade derivative warrants.
I have published a good deal of material on this topic. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
There is lots of information available in English.
What broker are you using?
Thanks. In general I am looking for stocks I'd love to hold for several years. I focus on value investing. How would you propose to begin? Do we get quarterly reports here? I only noticed yearly reports on the SET site but I am just starting to look. Are investor conceference calls done only in Thai?

Yes, I do - and I've made tons of money.
These generalisations from @XGM, with a racist undertone, that management - or "insiders" as they are called here to increase the intrigue of it - will rip people blind, just because it's a Thai listed company is absolute nonsense. As mentioned earlier - three times now - all markets have some bad apples. If you do proper research, your ability to find great underanalyzed companies here are far, far easier than in the US. Less local competition, less global competition.
Don't listen to the naysayers - go for it.Ok I understand you are the man with tonnes of money and can-do attitude but anything useful to contribute other than a prep talk?
Which sites do you use to gather info?

No need to fight kids.... if anyone has any suggestions regarding places to start from, except Thai Stock Exchange site, that would be more helpful than whether the market is rigged or not.
Nobody here actually invests in the local market?

Don't listen to this low-testo, low-energy nonsense. Thailand have approx. 950 listed stocks and as with all markets, you have gems and you have losers.
Tons of value to be had in this local market if you're willing to do the research. The locals hardly invest themselves so there's little competition.Mind sharing your preferred sites for relevant info?
-
Perhaps a dumb question, but is info about Thai stocks mainly available in Thai or are there good sources for info in English as well?
Specifically, are earning calls and investor conferences conducted in Thai only?

One big problem are the definitions of above.
What is an agent? Someone who checks the details of your property, maybe takes pictures, publishes advertisement, takes possible buyers to the place?
Or is Noi, who has a shop nearby and tells someone a name, an "agent"? It seems many people who do almost nothing want full agent commission.
And then the "closing of the sale": I am sure many "agents" have very different definitions what that means.
Good points. I guess what I am aaking is what uaually gets paid in practice regardless of any unwritten rule, convention or definition.

What is the customary commission rate (%) paid to agents on closing a *sale* of a house?

I did this 10 years ago so unsure whether it's still possible. My lawyer incorporated the company at the DBD as a Thai owned company and a month later changed the shareholders to 100% foreign. The was properly registered at the DBD and our annual audited filings were accepted at the DBD and the RD without problem. (I'm unsure what the penalty would have been is we had transacted any domestic sales.)
Thanks. Mind telling what business did you engage in? Did you export goods or services?
-
I have read in the past (both on this forum and elsewhere) that when a company engages in export-only activities (not invoicing anyone in Thailand, not making any sales in Thailand) then this kind of company can be registered with 100% foreign ownership.
Note I don't refer to the case of US-Thailand Treaty of Amity which is an unrelated provision. No Americans involved. I also don't refer to any kind of BOI sponsoring.
If this still holds then such a company will have 2 (or more) foreign shareholders.
Does this type of company still possible to incorporate today and does it matter if the export activities are only for goods or also for services.
I will greatly appreciate all informed replies.

There is no such thing as 'Thai quota'. Thais can own 100% of a project. The condo mentioned is likely in Thai name, meaning registered at the Land Office to a Thai owner. Foreign quota could or could not still be available, one cannot tell this from a particular condo being in Thai name.
Makes a lot of sense. That's why I found the term "Thai quota" confusing.

There is a fully renovated one for sale in the lower soi blocks, 6 floors only, asking 799k, Thai quota, B1 518/464, saw it somewhere om social media,I don't have any contact details
What do you mean by "Thai quota"? That the condo has reached 49% foreign owners?

You might read this: Difference Between Condos vs Apartments for sale and rent (remax.co.th)
Thanks, that is helpful. So an "apartment" in an "Apartment building" can't be purchased at all. I'll try to find an example from a Thai site that confused me.

The condo is the total building, apartments make up the condo. The terms are interchangeable, when someone refers to their condo it means their apartment.
A foreigner can purchase a condo outright, I have done so. However, the overall ownership of condo apartments by Thai law must be 51% Thai.
When I wrote "condo" I meant a condominium unit, of course, not the whole building. @msbkk's reply indicates there is a difference.

I am bit confused about the distinction, if there is any - from a purchase lagality perspective.
Can foreigners purchase apartments outright? When and when not? What's the difference from a "condo"? In Thai sites I can sometimes see "apartment" - what should be checked to determine if those can be bought or not?

Somebody who had bought and renovated one of the condo units at Narin posted on this forum last year. He had tried to make it look like a luxury unit and was expecting to get silly money for it, like B700K
What is a reasonable, non-silly figure for a renovated Nirun unit then?

Now how about mailing ot to yourself? If there is a requirement to specify the goods, what's best to write?

I certainly have no intention to carry much, say amount I use in a few days, but what is actually considered "large'? Isn't that subjective?

Remit vs. Credit card payment (under new tax rules)
in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Posted
Option 1:
Remit money into Thailand, then use it to make payments.
Option 2:
Use your foreign credit card to make these payments directly (whenever applicable).
Considering the planned taxation on remitted amounts, does it make sense to use option 2 as much as possible (e.g. larger payments done to bodies that accept CC)?
