Title. American with Non-B Visa attached to work permit, planning to leave local job at the end of September, need to stay in-country until at least end of October.
As I understand it, my visa will be void the same day my employment is officially terminated (Sep 30th via visit to Immigration Office with employer rep, signed letters, et al), and I can at that point request a 7 day extension of stay from the officer to "wrap things up." How can I best use those 7 days to secure an extra month+ stay? Can I just run to the border and back one day and get a Visa-Exempt stay for 30 days, or is there more to it?
