I went to Phuket about 5 years ago.I was told it was so upmarket much more than Pattaya. I was dissapointed the curly haired Thais I met were not

typical of the Thais in other parts north of Phuket.

Very agressive.I was amazed at the amount of Katoys in your face in the evening.Yes and prices double and more that of Pattaya.

I couldn't wait to get back to Heaven on Earth Pattaya.Why people like to critisise I just don't know. Pattaya has everything for a good holiday and for living

as a local.The baht buses are still only 10 baht go anywhere on-route ,The hotels and some are 4 and 5 star european quality are cheap.The restuarants for 300

baht a thai orthentic dish and a beer

......oh I could go on I love it ...even the baht bus drivers are not so bad.Above all it,s mainly a safe place to be as long as you are not looking for trouble.

Anyone take their lady back to the village for a Mothers blessing party ,give money /gold .Is

this considered to be a marriage in thailand and if it is,

is it a legal wedding in the eyes of the law??????

I would love to go to the Party but what happens at this party? I know there is probably drinking ,talking .Is there dancing ?music? I suppose there's food obviosly and it's free?

Chiangmai is a little far for me right now but I will attend a party in the future for sure.

I stay in Pattaya when I go to Thailand.

Songkran is it fun or should it be avoided?I have heard Pattaya is a place where the festival is celebrated with relish.

I am thinking I could go door to door in a taxi when I go out,but then who is sitting in the back of the taxi with a bucket of iced water?How far do participants go.

I might go and stay away from my condo in pattaya, to escape, if it's a real pain,but where can an escapee go?Hua Hin?I don't know.

What about I wear a full length shower proof mac, a sou wester ,wellies and swimming face mask ,would I escape the problem of continually being soaked?

Contacting a farang is completely useless as they are not allowed to represent you. What ends up happening is the farang in question will tell you he is a legal 'advisor' or 'consultant' who has thai lawyers working for him. The obvious problem is that it turns into a game of chinese whispers. The farang tells the thai your problem which they never understand fully, and being thai they will of course never admit they dont understand, the end result being some garbled interpretation of what your original problem was.

The only decent lawyer in Thailand is 'Witchai', the name wont mean anything to the majority of beer guzzling, ignorant farang on this forum but in Bangkok its the only person the high so call in times of trouble. However he charges western prices.
