What gauge are they talking about. Talking about a "cross docking station in Nong Khai" sounds like they are staying with the one meter gauge and then transfer the freight to Standard Gauge cars for the trip across Laos and into China.

I have visited Russia and the people were not as described here. I enjoyed my time spent in Russia as a tourist and believe what I have read here is USA Propaganda which is being used to back up their failures in the USA Foreign Policy as well as their failure in Economic Policy where Russia is doing well even with the USA boycotting most Russian products. Of course not the ones that are in a shortage in the US.

You advocate putting the victim in jail too... what drugs are you taking that have destroyed your mind to this point?
Kicking a woman for no reason is not punishable by law with a time in the BKK Hilton? By the way just having a drink not any other drugs.

Great to hear the Kohn Kaen Zoo is still there. I just went through Khon Kaen and looked for the Zoo entrance but we could not see it going both ways. We have previously been there and enjoyed it. When I can find out where it is I will go again. Great news that it is still there as it is no longer on my maps of Thailand.

I flew the T 28 while going through US Navy flight training in the early 60's. Actually carrier qualified on a T-28C.

I live in Nong Khai but foreign food in restaurants is extremely rare and now limited to one that I know. Very little English spoken here at all. Been a resident for 15 years and visitor for 8 years before that.

If it's an expat community you are looking for, all of the places you mention have one.
If it's real rural you are looking for, I'd say Buriram is your best bet as you don't have to travel out of town too far to get it.
Not sure how someone can say it's " crap" when you've already explained it's rural life you want. Buriram has that in bundles.
If you are single and dedicated to living the life you say, you won't be there long before you start picking up the language. It's not that difficult to do when it's all around.
Contrary to what some on here say, locals are able to speak Thai. Sure, they will speak Isaan Laos and Khmer in the villages but you will get by perfectly well with Thai.
You might be better off travelling through and seeing which you prefer. Korat is only 3ish hours by bus from Bangkok. All other providence you mention are reachable from Korat by bus.

Having been a volunteer instructor in Nong Khai (Isan) I saw the changes that took place when money was spent in the provinces and not just Bangkok. He did very well for us who are not fixated with Bangkok. Yes I welcome him back!

I feel really sorry for the Thai people who want change...
maybe they have to do more than vote to get change, seems that never works,
Time to step up and make a noise.

I took one flying lesson 5 years ago. I remember the instructor telling how to descend and line up with the runway. I was waiting for him to take over the controls but he never did and before I knew it we had landed. So I suspect a mechanical failure because landing is not difficult if you listen to the instructor.
I have two years as a USA Navy Flight Instructor. We generally flew three flights a day for five days a week if the weather was good. My students probably averaged 8-10 landings a flight. Lots of landings and I know it is not as easy as you think. Yes I was the instructor!

There used to be one in Chalong I sent my wife there when she wanted to learn to drive, I made her learn in a truck with a manual gearbox, She turned out a good driver, sensible and gives way,
My wife went to a driving school in Udon Thani. Spent several months going several times a week. On completion she did not get her drivers license since we live in Nong Khai but got all the paperwork to get one in Nong Khai.
After getting her license she was starting driving with me in as a passanger. Well at the first opportunity to pull over I had her pull over as she had all ready scared me. It takes a bit to scare me as I spent two years as a US Navy Primary Flight Instructor and have seem many life threatening events developing before I changed the direction.
We then went into my personally instructing her. Started in the local parking lot of the District Offices which were quite large and not used a lot. From here we graduated to a local Park then finally to local streets.
Needless to say I do not trust local driving schools at all.

They will use it to keep company with their aircraft carrier.

How about in Germany they are tearing out a wind farm to make room for an open pit coal mine. This wind and solar needs either Nuclear power or continue using natural gas and oil.

How about a bunch of spending cuts. I don't believe that you can find enough loopholes and tax breaks to come close to balancing the budget.

My biggest problem is their refusal to take you where you want to go. Have been refused a ride many times an evening in Bangkok in the Sukhumvit area. Also finding a cab from Siriraj Hospital to anywhere is a no ride answer most of the time.
For the no meter I just wave them off.
