  1. I don't bite but I will also try to respectfully reply. I have to agree with goldfinger that the wash & reuse option may be the best. Since you obviously live a very busy lifestyle & probably don't have the time to wash/dry or even shop for your 'personals' perhaps you should look into your local laundry shop. (So inexpensive!) I also recommend requesting the option of ironing/pressing for the clean/gentlemanly 'first impression' look. Make sure you request the hottest setting with steam to ensure all the wrinkles are removed. They may charge you a few Bht extra for the dark blue/extra large size though. Just a (hopefully) thrifty thought sent your way. :)

    eek: LOL

  2. I don't get it. The OP just makes a statement & doesn't ask for any advice/replies but yet gets all of the above comments (stereotypical - with written surround sound - buffalo type, even if tongue in cheek) from both men & women! Without the usual interfering mods no less! Hahahha. It's such a soap... :o

  3. New survey finds average Thais taller, fatter, more tubular

BANGKOK: -- Thailand’s first standard body size chart has been unveiled to the public on Wednesday, with Thai people developing bigger sizes and shapes than the past generation.

The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, announced its team of 11 researchers has successfully developed Thai standard size chart under the two-year programme called ‘SizeThailand’.

Dr. Chularat Tanprasert, who initiates the SizeThailand programme, said researchers have collated the average size of 13,442 Thai men and women of different age group across the country by using advanced 3D Body Scanning technology.

The research found that Thai men have grown more than seven centimetre taller and about 12 kilometre fatter, while Thai women have grown five centimetre taller and about five and a half kilogrammes fatter compared to 25 years ago. ‘Thai women’s waistline has also ballooned by 3.7 inches, bottom grown by 2 inches and chest expanded by 2.2 inches,’ said Dr. Chularat.

The fact that Thai men and women have developed significantly bigger chests, waists and bottoms, means the shape of the average Thai has also changed. In particular, Dr. Chularat noted, the women have become more tubular and have less of the traditional hourglass shape.

Meanwhile, Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Kalaya Sophonpanich said the findings will help Thai fashion, furniture and automobile industries design products which better suit the typical Thai physical standard and adopt more effective stockpile management strategies.

Dr. Kalaya added that the SizeThailand programme also gives advantages to medical experts to apply data analysing specific health risks associated with the patient’s physique.

The minister noted Thailand is the fifth country, after the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Japan respectively, to have used Three Dimensional (3D) Body Scanning technology to collate data on their population to develop typical standard body size chart for the benefits of the local industries.

SizeThai (acronym TH) consists of nine sizes for men: TH 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, and 46m while there are 10 sizes for women: TH 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40,c42, 44 and 46. The majority of Thai men size are TH 40, while women are TH 36.

[/quote Did anyone realize the OP's quote says that "Thai men have grown more than seven centimetre taller and about 12 kilometre fatter, while Thai women have grown five centimetre taller and about five and a half kilogrammes fatter compared to 25 years ago." Whether it's about km or kg, the women still come out healthier & not so fat.... What's up with the Thai trying to catch up with the fat farangs? LOL

  4. Can't feel sorry about dead drug dealers ,. if i found a dealer trying to push drugs to my kids , i would also shoot first and ask questions latter,.

Ha ha ha, I wondered how long it would be before this thread brought out one of these nutcases!!! :o

I,m with Ray08 on this one. They can drop dealers off the 24th floor of a condo unit for all I care.

Yes, I'm with the above 2 posters on this one - dealers are death dealers, many kids don't have parents who 'steer them right' but every adult has a personal choice as to what they choose to do & who they sell to, even the ones who are screwed up. Guess I'm a nutcase too. Gov't officials picking off 'examples' & sometimes innocents (maybe doing their own drug or other personal thing) are another story.

    My opinion FWIT only,

Sorry BFD, Black Dog had a fire! Well, more smoke than flame but....

Black Dog had a fire?! Was someone just fed up with the cold and tried to create a little warmth? Man, there are easier ways to do it!

You say 'more smoke than fire', so my worry is alleviated a little bit. I hope it's in full working order by the time I visit in July.

    BFD!

Sorry, can't figure out how to pm this...

  9. Telling about the turkeys, ducks, the pond and my tractor is NOT very exciting. Actually not a lot up here is real interesting or exciting. Once in a while a post talking about a new type of construction draws a lot of comments but then killjoys ruin it and let the cat out of the bag. That kills the post. The most exciting thing lately is the election. My wife has decided that her Issan neighbors are stupid. She can't stand Samak and says even Thaksin was better and she didn't like him.

Well, it's interesting for me! Screw the killjoys, please carry on!

  10. We don’t have the complication of maids and such so at home we speak English except when our 3 year old is very naughty and wifie lashes into her in Thai. (Metaphorically speaking)

I’m still amazed that daughter knows which of us understands what and uses that language only and does not speak Tinglish.

Even more amazing, though perhaps not to others, is that she can turn on the TV and connect the right plugs Red-White-Yellow insert a DVD and push the correct buttons to watch her favorite movie which at the moment is “Shark Tail” last week it was “Happy Feet”

Sorry just being a first time daddy

    Daddy Daffy.

    :D

No apologies necessary as we all have our little geniuses. :D We sometimes just don't give enough credit to these little people do we? Don't forget though that at 3, 4, 5 etc. when they can't find the proper tape/dvd a toy figure (or pieces) of the 'hero' pushed through the tape/dvd slot (piece by piece) sometimes amounts to the same thing as loading the movie (heroes) in their minds... LOL They are still little ones after all.

Read to my little guys every day & they'd both memorized all the stories (ever tried skipping/shortening a page?). My youngest wasn't doing very well in picking up reading but loved to sit on my lap while I read him some of the daily comics but when it came down to me saying I would read one frame & he would have to read the next it was big tantrum time. Next day, he slowly read every 2nd frame. 3rd day he'd read the whole comic page before I even got to the paper!! Of course I always made sure he was sitting on my lap while he read the comics page to me after that for a few years after.... He's in University now.

Enjoy, Daffy D (think you really mean Daffy Daddy, no shame in that! :D )

Sorry, OT, not Thailand related :o

  12. Yesterday, I was playing tennis with my dog and he ran off to fetch the ball but didn't come back! I searched for him and found him eventually. I felt a bit embarrasses shouting "whisky" at the top of my voice in a strange street! They all thought I was drunk or insane. He, and several other male dogs were trying to get into a fence with a little female dog inside. Ridiculous really as she was like a highland terrier and the dogs outside were at least 3 times her size. He just wouldn't leave so I had to carry him. What a fiasco!

Heeheehee. so sorry. err, HAHAHA.. :o Can just imagine you carrying your big dog home.... looking forlornly over your shoulder at his love....(not that I know you but now I do know your buddy was just lovesick) Let me tell you mine: Many many years ago I had a female dog (who my dad loathed) who had a great little skinny friend that could get through any gate/barrier, etc. His name of course was Willie (No joke!) She's in heat, got out, Willie was quick on the assignment & as they were a good half a block down the street & I couldn't pry them apart, I soon returned carrying an ice cream pail of cold water ( I read it in a book - I was only 12!) yelling all the while Willie, get out!!, Get off Willie!! You stupid Willie!!! etc., etc., Needless to say, there wasn't much water left by the time I got there, Willie pulled his willie out, my Nikki got pregnant & dad got rid of her shortly thereafter : ( . I was getting wierd looks for years. Glad to hear your Whiskey's home though!

Learn to control your skinny willie :D

Neeranam, how's Whisky doing now? Did you get him tested? Hope it was just 'lustitis depression' & not tick fever/disease or any other serious illness. Is he eating again? Back to his usual behaviour ?

Just to clarify, I wasn't at all laughing/making fun of your concern for him & his possible illness; the last 3 sentences in your last big post just brought back all the frustration/embarrassment & anger at my Nikki's & her 'buddy's -Named here as Willie- behaviour - (What a fiasco is an understatement!! but did make me laugh- sympathetically) Skinny Willie? Well, he wasn't mine ( :D !!!) though I wished he was most of the time, at that particular point in time - could've killed him for assaulting my 'usually well-behaved Nik'!!! :D

Thanks CMSally for sharing too, (a goat??) & wondering how many other great stories there are out there.. Bambina, & all other great pet carers probably have quite a few.....

  14. I asked dr_pat_pong to adjust the "bad word" filters and he came up with a very good solution:

    allow: fuc_k shit wank hel_l

Well done (?) And the outcome of this post will be?

Hmm, when I responded to this post, there where no lower dashed incuded in george's reply... censorship? NO no.... :o

  15. ....

What is required is local knowledge of tipping. Different countries have different "rules" for tipping waiters, taxi drivers, hotel doormen, etc. In America, waiters get half the legal minimum wage because they are EXPECTED to earn money from tips. In Canada, waiters get decent salaries and aren't expected to be tipped. When Canadians come to America, they KNOW in America tipping is standard but they play ignorant and don't tip (in my experience as a waiter in Florida where rich Canadians would have enough money for winter homes but not enough to leave 15% on a lunch tab). In Finland I'm told they would be offended if you left a tip whereas 86 km across the gulf in Estonia, tips are appreciated (although rarely earned).

Usually guidebooks I have seen have a section on local tipping customs. Anyone have a link to what is expected/appropriate here in Thailand?

oh really, in which part of canada is this true. my years there in the service industry would indicate differently.

As would my years being born & living in Canada. We as 'rule' give between 10-15% for good service. Where are you from again Koheesti? Guess people from anywhere tip on their service, depending on good or bad, or on their income or on useless advisors like you 'et al'... just like in Thailand. Depending on their income too. Silly person...
