    All?

My partner is an accountant for a civil engineering company, costing contracts for highways and bridges; currently 155 staff but this often increases for specific contracts.

Current daily rates for non-salary staff are 400 basic and up to 1100 per day for the skilled machine operators - these machines are not cheap to buy, touchscreen computer operations, training with the manufacturer upon purchase eg Wirtgen, Sakai.

With individual contracts often 600-800 million baht any enforced wage increase will simply be added in to the costing for each contract tendered for; won't make them any less competitive as same will apply to competing contractors.

And just to add here, one of the more pricey machines, lays double-lane asphalt, its prime operator is a woman, as are several of the other earthworks machine operators. I'm told they're better at the job!

I am in contruction of houses mostly and i never paid these wages. Ever. They never asked me too. Amazing Thailand eh. It has been 250 for woman 300-350 for men and 500 for a 'specialist'  for the last 15 yrs with us. Ridiculous. But i can not afford higher wages with the low prices the want to pay for the houses nowadays and the hard times getting mortgages.. It's way too many projects atm so yeah. Consider even stopping all together. Because between the low wages BUT the high prices of materials and the low prices of house. It is not worth the investment anymore. Can get bette R.O.I. if i do not emply anybody and move on to other biz. Sad but true. I want to pay them at least 1000 a day, that seems fair. But not possible . Jobs will be lost. I am better here when only taking care of myself. Make more money and take less risks. A bad balance.

Lots of studies mentioned online that demonstrate the reduced braking performance of tires that have not reached the treadwear indicators.

Also worth reading up on is the importance of good tread to channel water away from the tire to help prevent hydroplaning.

I prefer the peace of mind when traveling in heavy rain, especially in the mountains, when I know I have lots of tread that is still flexible.

Factory garantees safety standards on them so yeah whatever. But then again i know people who still wear facemasks and take boosters lol. Do what suits you best i suggest. Don't deny the facts.

Most 4x4 shops can order in items for you or you can try Lazada etc.

In need to know/see what i get before i can order. Quality is important...So i do not yet have a specific item in mind, haven't found a decent toyota seat cover yet..Lazada is not what i look for . Not the quality . Prices too high for something that resembles quality but is not. I do appreciate your respons. Thank you.

  4. Bought a Toyota hilux in 2019. Now the turck is 3 yrs old i want to make it a littler cleaner and buy some carseat covers that fit well , are good quality and do not sweat , like most of the fake leather ones..... I find toyota sells virtually nothing as aftermarket goods and can not really find a website that does.  Live in Isan so driving to Phuket or Pattaya is not done. Contacted the 4x4 shop in pattaya. Never got a respons....Any tips for hilux (Thai model ) aftermarket goods. ? Sure i can find maintenance products enough, but thats not what i am looking for...Thank you.

Never had any problems with Thai banks. I keep substantial amount of money (more than 100K) in two Thai banks. My only issue is that they don't give you any interest or almost negligible interest rate. It used to be the same in the USA also but in US some high yield savings accounts are giving 4% now.

And how is that an answer to my question ? Good for you btw i am happy for you.

You could get a Schwab One International account.  You need $25,000 to open an account there.  It is a brokerage account not really a bank account but you can get checks and a debit card for it.  Their debit card has no fees, no foreign transaction fees, and even immediately refunds most foreign bank fees.  Like the fee Thai banks charge for foreign ATM cash withdrawals.  Just don't accept the exchange rate the ATM tries to get you to accept.  That is the biggest fee of all.  So basically with their debit card you can get completely free cash withdrawals in Thailand.  You can also link external accounts with them and easily move money between them.  Also international wires have only a $15 fee.  But when I wire money to my Thai bank they immediately rebate that fee too.  So the wire is free for me.

It sounds like the money you are making while staying in Thailand is from outside of Thailand.  So why get Thailand involved in it anyway?

The thing i am not sure about. It seems silly to begin with but hey the laws here do not always make sense to me so....I live in Thailand. I am legally binded to Thailand. But not for income in any way, that is all from exterior sources, but does Thai law see it that way too ?  So when i make money ( call it work) i do that while being here. Is it legal to store money you make while living in Thailand on overseas accounts. The money does not come from any real entity. I also get money from Netherlands. A clear cut sender and recipient thing. The money was made for work i do there. It's taxed there too. But now i live here. Where is the money made in that case when there is no country connected to it. ? In cyberspace...is it legel to transfer it 'out' ...since it was not even 'in' really to begin with...sorry if that sounds complicated 555.

  7. Hi all.

Was wondering if there are international banks in Thailand that serve retail customers ? I am so extremely fed up with the low quality  banks here.

Does anyone reading know if it is possible / legal to send the money i earn, while living here, to an overseas bankaccount ? My income is from trading on interantional exchanges only. I store in online accounts, then tranfer to the desired bankaccount when i need cash. That could be any bank indeed. I do have an account overseas, but that is fo rincome made overseas. This is income i make while being here. I just wish to pass the Thai banks by completely.

Thank you for any input that is sincere.

They want it so much that i decided they can;t have it lol.

I was a fan of Tesla up until Elon recently went off the rails. Now I can't wait to see him, and Tesla, fail. Teslas certainly have some impressive technology, but their assembly process is still pretty shabby, with endless complaints online about panel gaps etc.

Regardless, the Chinese are gearing up to not only destroy Tesla, but also the Korean and Japanese automakers, in nearly all non-US markets. Chinese cars have made tremendous strides in the past 10 years, from literal death traps, to world-class EVs. Toyota and Mazda are still stuck in the past with petrol and hybrid cars that almost no one will want in just a few short years.

If I could drive off the lot in a new Ora Cat today, I'd have bought one already. But since it's still a 4~6 month wait, I'll just sit tight and see what 2023 delivers. There definitely won't ever be a new Tesla in my driveway though.

It's an american car. Nuf said. next.

Thai Public Health Minister says he disagrees with 4 AM nightspot closing, says it can spread Covid
    By Tanakorn Panyadee

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said he disagreed with allowing nightspots in certain tourism spots to stay open until 4 AM because it could spread Covid-19.

Anutin, who is the main proponent of cannabis legalization, gave an interview with the Thai media before attending the cabinet meeting today, saying the Public Health Ministry was concerned that the nightlife closing hour extension to 4 AM from 2 AM could lead to the spread of Covid-19 and road accidents.

He stated that closing at 2 AM was already appropriate for the nightlife sector. However, the minister added that he was willing to respect the majority in the cabinet.
