Gentlemen and ladies thank you all for your insights. I'm a Big Mango boy myself so gotta go to Lak Si. But what is this TM30 thing? Does it have to be prepared beforehand or can it all be done at the same time? Cheers again everyone!

Been coming to Thailand for over 40 years and this most recent arrival was a complete shock. Saawaadi I pleasantly say. Ha! She was the Nurse Ratchet of Thai immigration. Ticket ticket ticket she starts chattering, emphasizing with a sharp clanking sound on her desk. Than for some change up she adds hotel reservations hotel reservations etc. I'm gobsmacked. It's never been nothing but smile and stamp and go previous times. No way shape or form this time. Luckily her supervisor had a more congenial sabai sabai attitude and just let me know times have changed at least for American passport holders but they had succeeded putting the scare into me. Next time buyer beware!

Arrived this Tuesday on visa exemption so how soon can I buy the 30 day extension, immediately or should I wait awhile? TIA

Nope, no luck. Nothing in stock and 60 day shipping from Germany.

Thanx again my friend.
Let's see if there's better luck.

@ravip
Well, long story short, the Beurer is unavailable. All the sites are s.o.o.l.! I'd pay to get one from Germany but not with an incandescent in the mail. Just spoke with Philips here in BKK, said need to check inventory.

Can't find anything on Google Maps or Amazon or anywhere else for that matter. Anyone know of a retailer or any source of UV infared lights/lamps/bulbs in Bangkok?
Cheers!

All's well that ends well! Apart from those who were refused boarding yesterday or who cancelled their holidays!
Ha! You think it's over. LOL

Cheers for the prompt reply ubonjoe. Could I impose on you again ask if you know if it is possible to do it electronically these days. There's something about it on the immigration website but it appears my browsers are incompatible. https://www.immigration.go.th/
TIA
Or...if I do have to do it in person does Laksi have photo and photocopy services like Chaeng WATTHANA?
-
Excuse me, confused as usual. What is this laski mall? Isn't Chaeng Watthana where extensions are issued?
-
Not some cheap knock-off. Anyone point the way?

Nonsensical, no rhyme or reason. Singapore? Thailand? Capricious and arbitrary.

Reciprocity is required here, all Indians must be subject to testing prior to boarding any flights to Thailand.
Also make it a type of test which is particularly expensive and require that all original paperwork is presented both in Indian and then separately translated into Thai and notarised at the Embassy - all within 24 hours of the flight ????
The Chinese are coming back now, there's more important things to consider.
Damn straight! What's good for the Thai goose is good for the Indian gander! Hard to believe the Kingdom isn't complaining about this.

Are Thai government health officials going to react to this nonsense?

The 5 year option is considerably more expensive. Plus you're not allowed more than 90 days per entry and maximum 180 days in a year.
Don't know where you're getting your info from. I just received my 5 year evisa for the fee of $80US. US, British, Japanese and Canadiens are allowed 180 day continuous stays, other nationalities 90 days. Whether one can return immediately is not quite clear. Could you please post a link from GOI stating a maximum 180 days per year. TIA

Thai government should push a With Freedom Comes Responsibility campaign. If people would act in an intelligent mature manner there wouldn't be a necessity for so much legislation. jmho

"I hear Cambodia and Vietnam is better for those who can not and will not accept how Thai Immigration works."
Not everyone's cup of tea but India issues 5 year tourist evisa for round $80US. Easy to get, no paperwork and few requirements.

It was circa 1984 or so when the Bangkok municipality raised the local bus fare from ฿1 to ฿2. Victory Monument looked like a war zone afterwards. Then of course there was 1973, 1976 and 1991. 2010 with the red and yellow fighting each other. Then recent protests a few years ago that CONVID conveniently put a stop to. Hmmm... how along until history starts singing another bloody Thai karaoke chorus?

I'd just like to add, in total agreement with the sentiment regarding prices. <deleted> is going on? It's a bad serious joke. Just came from the Levant, 1st of Dec, paid $US25 for ten grams of excellent indoor stuff. Now here in BKK can only afford this green ditchweed, tastes like the backend of a bullfrog.
SMH at this Thai kabuki.

The change of that ever happening is up there with reliable Immigration software, working mine detectors and the police moving away from hotmail addresses.
They can't even get the post office online with the banking system for QR payments unlike any street vendor these days.Yes but national security systems tend to be the best of any government. Priorities you know.
By the way
