  1. This is very extreme, but you may want to try the colonoscopy prep routine if you can't find anything that works, and you're determined to get cleaned out.

In my case, I was instructed to buy a 20-pack box of Miralax powder, and dissolve 1 packet in 8oz (235ml) of water and drink it every 15 minutes the day before my colonoscopy. 16 packets in all. After the 4 hours of Miralax every 15 minutes, follow-up with 4 tablets of Dulcolax.  After the first 3 or 4 rounds of Miralax, you'll find yourself on the toilet every 15 minutes, corresponding to each successive round.  As I said, this is very extreme but your colon will be clean as a whistle.  Miralax is a form of polyethyeneglycol (a very close cousin of antifreeze), so I'd do this only if absolutely necessary. And no, I'm not an MD.

Yes K-Bank seems a lot slower and I've had the same 'busy traffic' pop up. But if I switch to my SIM for internet from home wifi it works. Are you connecting roaming or from a local wifi connection?

    .

Phone is connecting via local wi-fi (I don't have international roaming enabled for my Thai SIM).  After 3 days of not being able to connect, I tried it again a few minutes ago (5:30PM Thai time), and K-Plus is now working after just a short delay to connect.  Whatever problem they were having seems to have been worked out.  Thanks for your response.

  3. Remove the SSD from your old computer and put it into an external USB enclosure. Connect that USB enclosure to your new computer, and run a disk cloning/partitioning program. I use ECHO 5, which works very well. The software will setup your new computer to temporarily boot an alternative OS, allow you to re-partition the M2 drive if desired, and then clone your SSD to your M2. When finished, the temporary OS is removed and your new computer will boot normally.

  4. I've been using K-Plus (and its predecessor) on my phone from both Thailand and the US for years. For the last few days, the K-Plus app stopped working from my home in the US. The app just hangs while trying to connect, then after several minutes, a message pops up saying they're experiencing a high volume of traffic which may affect availability. Same thing is happening on my wife's phone, except she gets a message asking if she wants a call-back.   K-Biz on the Kasikorn website works, but it's incredibly slow. A couple of minutes to process the login, and a couple more to access account details. It's the same situation whether I'm using a VPN or not (our phones are not using a VPN). It was working fine just a couple of weeks ago.  Anyone else having similar problems?

Unfortunately it's a regular thing and because they/we all know what causes it, then it should be easy to deal with – – but TIT!

You can see the fires burning throughout Thailand on the "fire map", but although we are getting some of it from Malaysia and Indonesia, we should be able to handle the stuff that we produce.

Here's a suggestion – instead of spending billions of baht on a submarine which will be as useful as tits on a bull, why not save that money and buy scores of tractor driven rotary hoes for the tambons/farmers so that they can till the rice and sugarcane stalks into the ground, thereby saving burning and possibly enriching the soil.

I'm not a farmer, so fire away with your responses at my idea.

Nearly all of the privately-owned tractors in rural areas are equipped with disc units that could be used to turn the stalks over after harvest.  But, while most rice farmers will pay someone with a machine to harvest their rice, they won't pay to have their paddys plowed under afterwards. The alternative to mechanized harvesting is days and days of backbreaking labor, while the alternative to paying someone with a tractor to turn the soil over is to simply burn it at virtually no cost. Simple economics.

Another problem that won't be going away anytime soon is the burning of garbage. Outside of urban areas, trash collection is virtually non-existent. While some metals and plastic bottles might be recycled (depending upon location), the locals have no choice but to burn the majority of their trash.

We don't have the place register for the blue book in our name. They never got the blue book registered at the land office..

If the developer doesn't have your blue book, it's very possible the building hasn't been registered as a condominium. What about all of the other buyers? Do they have their blue books? You can also go to the land office and see if they have chanote titles on file for the building. There should be one chanote for each unit, listing the owner.

  7. No,  Kasikorn Bank's web-based system is working just fine. It's now called K-Biz (they merged the personal and business apps into one quite a while back).

Also, the K-Plus phone app works as well. I got a new phone yesterday, and had to download and install the app just as a new user would do. When linking the app to your account(s), it asks you to provide the account number as well as the Thai gov't ID number, or PASSPORT NUMBER associated with that account. Obviously, it works for foreigners as well as Thais.

  8. I don't recall ever seeing a villa renting for 150,000 or more until just a few months ago. Occasionally I'd see a high-end one for 75-80,000 but even those were quite rare. I'm guessing the villas we're now seeing at 150,000 - 300,000 were previously priced around 60-70,000.

Can only be driven from morning to dusk .

Tell them to get the correct plates before payment for the car or forget the sale

Worth a try, but doubtful it'll work.  I believe the dealer has to remit the VAT before the white (permanent) plate is issued.  That can be a significant amount of money in most cases.

The last car we bought, the dealer ran out of red plates, so we had no plate for over a month. The dealer said if we get stopped and fined, they'd pay the fine. Drove the car for a month and never got stopped.

The car before that, we had red plates for over 3 months - seems the dealer wanted to hang onto their money a bit longer.

Can i chip in with a few quetions and thanks in advance even if you do not answer ????

    Which ones did you skip?

Have to apply for the first time for a single entry tourist visa 60 days and it's a bit confusing.

They ask for accommodations. Do they want all the booking we made? So far booked 7 different hotels on Samui/Koh Phangan.

    Or just the first stay?

    Confirmation of legal residence?

No idea what that is, since we don't get a residence card or anything here in Denmark.

We got our social security card with an address, will that do?

Passport pages for showing travel the last 12 months.

Travelled in Europe but no stamps, so just leave that one alone or show them a photo of empty pages in passport?

Applicant must apply for e-visa via specific Embassy/consulate conforming with his/her consular jurisdiction and residency. Applicant is required to upload

document that can verify his/her current residency?

Again that's not a thing here in Denmark other than printed on our social security card . Leave Blank or include social security card ?

    Yeah i'm confused ????

    Yes, it's confusing!!!

When applying for a SETV (in the US), you do NOT need Confirmation of Legal Address and any Passport pages other than the cover page with your photo. I'm assuming that if you're doing your application through the Thai Embassy in Denmark, and you have a Danish passport, no sort of proof of residency would be required. It wasn't required when applying through the Thai consulate in Chicago using my US passport.

For hotel booking, I sent only the confirmation for the hotel in Bangkok where we'll be spending the first few days. Afterward, we're staying at our daughter's house, and I didn't send anything for that.

    Hope this helps.

You forget in Thailand, motordrivers ARE on the left lane and therefor most cars ARE on the right lane, even slow driving trucks. Also as a car driver, you have to overtake on the left if the slower one isnt going to the left, as it should be.

Mostly with these articles, they show the recording if there was a cam available. Now they dont, so I think it is questionable.

Not long ago there was an experienced motordriver also "slid under the truck".

Again i see the motor wasnt under the truck, it looks quite good.

The woman just could have had her motor license and was experienced, it is not told in the story. The type of bike is not the most common one to rent. I have my doubts.

Cant say what i might think, otherwise it would be considered trolling.

I was referring to the common situation in which there is a single lane for each direction, which was the case in this accident as evidenced by the photo in the linked article. Someone overtaking using that slim margin of pavement on the left can be surprised by any number of things that block that area further down the road.

What docs are required for SETV though? Does it include the PP stamps?

Haven't seen that - is it on the evisa site or an embassy site?

The website is thaievisa.go.th  (official government site). When I did my SETV application, I supplied images for the PP cover page, a current passport photo, and flight and hotel confirmations. Dummy images for everything else. The manual (PDF) is on that site.

My SS check automatically gets deposited into my Wells Fargo account in the USA.  I transfer it from that account to KBank, no charge .....

How do you do that with no charge?  I thought the only way you could do a transfer from Wells Fargo to K-Bank was via a wire transfer. Does Wells Fargo not charge you to do an outgoing international wire? Most banks charge $30-$40.

Is that recurring application for METV or another visa ?

I was sweating bricks as my application was so near flight last year and those unanswerable questions for a first time applicant..they have no way of knowing whether sending a "not appilcable" jpg etc will piss off the person reviewing their application...on first attempt.

I was just slightly worried about uploading the "N/A" JPGs for my SETV, but figured the worst that could happen is that they'd deny my application, I'd be out $40 and I'd have to visit a local I/O to get an extension once in Thailand.  The manual for the online application uses a Tourist Visa as an example, and doesn't show any of the "required but not required" documents in the step-by-step guide.

  15. I recently applied online for a 60 day tourist visa from the US.  It seems that there's a glitch in the system, as it was insisting that unnecessary documentation be uploaded. It was obviously a bug, not making any distinction between the requirements for a tourist visa versus other visa types.  In any event, I created a JPG file with the text "Not Required for Tourist Visa" and uploaded it for each of those "required" documents.  I received my eVisa about a week later.

I used it and it is expensive at 300 Baht per sq m at 25mm depth. 25mm is not enough unless you have a ceiling under it.

Any idea of how the insulating properties of the spray foam would compare to 3 or 6 inches of fiberglass insulation for a building with a gypsum ceiling?

Seems like spray foam would be good for preventing leaks and deadening noise, but how much thermal insulation does it provide?
