  1. Back in the days of the wild, wild West they use to call it "snake oil".
  2. Several Thai Nationals are also being investigated for being nominees to establish businesses. If you go to the Thai Examiner website there is a much more complete article about this
  3. Well, I don't use shopee but understand the problem with playstore location (been there, done that). I keep my android phone(with Sim for Thai number) located in Thailand and I use an old apple (iPhone) located in America (app store). You don't need a Sim in the apple for it to work - you are only using the platform that is located in a different country (in my case America) I do this for banking purposes because my bank in America would update every year and I needed a playstore/app store located in America. I only use the apple for banking (which only gets turned on 2 or 3 times a month) and my android for everything else. In your case you could use the apple for shopee in Thailand. Should work
  4. Just recently was hearing that Trump is going to allow farmers to vouch for migrants (even if undocumented) to be able to stay and work on the farm. He (Trump) was referring to the farmers in Iowa but (I'm guessing) should probably be extended to other areas. They (government) are working on the details as per Trump.
  5. Banking is getting tighter/more restrictive. I've had similar problems with accessing USA bank from Thailand. I have to use a VPN located in USA and if OTP is necessary it needs to go to a USA number. You may want to consider using a VPN located in Thailand and have the ability to receive an OTP to the registered Thai number (which I'm guessing will require you to have roaming). Good luck. I've always considered banking/financials is a moving target, just when you have it all figured out, they will change something.
  6. I think a 3rd (new) party is really the only option at this point. The lefty Democratics are nothing more than a dumpster fire now. They pushed agendas that very few people could stomach and all they're silly tactics are backfiring. Hopefully if, if a new party emerges, it will have some common sense, which the current Democratic party seems to have little or none of.
  7. I think these wishy-washy policies (of the Thai government) will only put off many foreign investors in the future. You reap what you sow.
  8. Don't use any of the so-called wallets as I've never had the need. Use a credit card for hotels and hospitals and some restaurants as the price is the same and no extra cc fees. I've never seen anywhere that won't take cash. Used a bank transfer with a QR code a few times. As far as I'm concerned, the less apps that have my financial info the better.
  9. Well, let's face it: getting kidnapped to go work in a scam center just isn't as much fun as it used to be.
  10. I paid almost the same here (20,000) in Pattaya. Had 2 bumps on my back removed (one cancerous & one not) and used the spray nitrogen on my head. The bumps went to pathology and was given the all clear. Cost included a couple of follow up appointments. Luckily I have insurance that will pay the majority of cost.
  11. Thailand is listed as Level 1 with risk: Exercise normal precaution with higher security risk areas. That is from US dept of State/travel advisories.
  12. I'm guessing that getting kidnapped isn't on the Chinese bucket list.
  13. Failure to meet security requirements, according to the article.
  14. "Wales online" claims he was violently attached. Source of info not given. Also stated he had epilepsy which makes me wonder (if true) why he would travel without insurance.
