    'Internet account' ??

SCB stopped their Online Banking Service approximately 1 year ago (so you can't do online banking via a laptop and Webpage).

SCB now only have the App that you can use on your Phone for Mobile Banking (mBanking)

There lies the problem, I have had an SCB account for almost 25 years, was able to check balance from anywhere on-line, now they only do this via smart phone app............I don't use my phone for any, any, financial transactions, so can't check my balances and monthly bill payer anymore.........before the naysayers come on, I have been a quasi IT Scty enthusiast for 30 odd years, and just plain don't trust Cell phone transactions.🤔🤔

Just open it yourself, usually it's some simple screws and they use these lithium batteries with simple connector pin cables. Often these batteries are sold on lazada and you can just connect it and close it again + done. Often they have this blue color / wrap around them, many devices all same same.

I started replacing batteries in all kinds of devices, it is really easy to do and cost little. Shops often would charge me a few thousand for it.

Philips shaver I had to replace the battery needed to be soldered………….new battery lasted about 3 months, so just chucked the whole thing………..out of warranty.

    Revised posting.

    So-called democratically elected (populist) premier.

Turned out to be dumber than previous military dictator.

Always boasting   more than they really can do(mostly for his short-lived approval rate on SNS).

It can get Thai public services into big mess.

Foreign income already taxed in the country of its origin, cannot be taxed(by tax treaty) again elsewhere.

Increased application for foreigners' Tax ID number will stress up Thai tax department(undoubtfully).

Creating so much of the needless new workload for Nothing.

It reminds me of one thing.

During the period of previous military regime, they  once declared that foreigners also must report even their short term domestic travel(temporary trip other than the Change of Usual Place of Residence) in their TM30 things.

But it was eventually dropped; simply unenforceable.

After that, we only need to make a TM30 report when we:

    1-Return to Thailand from abroad.

2-Change our usual place of address.

Just like prescribed by laws  in the first place.

cannot be taxed  Please don’ use that term when dealing with Thai Govt, they can do anything they want, especially when it comes to money.

  4. Police career

Thaksin was a member of the 10th class of the Armed Forces Academies Preparatory School,[17] and was then admitted to the Thai Police Cadet Academy. Graduating in 1973, he joined the Royal Thai Police. He received a master's degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University in the United States in 1975, and three years later was awarded a doctorate in criminal justice at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.[citation needed]

Returning to Thailand, he reached the position of Deputy Superintendent of the Policy and Planning Sub-division, General Staff Division, Metropolitan Police Bureau, before resigning his commission in 1987 as a Police Lieutenant Colonel and leaving the police. His former wife, Potjaman Damapong, is the sister of Police General Priewpan Damapong and now uses her mother's maiden name.[13]: 39

He is a former university lecturer at Royal Police Cadet Academy in 1975–1976.[18][19]

Thaksin's police lieutenant colonel rank was revoked in September 2015.[20][21]

Blank guns are legal, as they are as they say blank, but they should be made of a material that renders them useless when trying to modify them into real guns.

Naah, just leave them flimsy, that way when modified they will explode in the perpetrators hand while firing real bullets, Bet he/she won't try that again.............https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEV15uVnhG4.          Peace

You can take the SCB and stick it where the sun don't shine, even their staff couldn't log into my account using my laptop in their bank.

That would be because SCB just initiated Mobile Banking on 15 August 2023, the computer based Easy Net does not work any longer, you need to create a new account on a cell phone.   I tried, but am not able to make it happen, and am out of country at the moment.  Called the branch and was told they could not resurrect my Easy Net account to check it on line with my computer.  Boggles the mind

I had more than 35 years with BOA when they came out with that same notice, only I wasn't given 6 months to clear it all up.  Fortunately for me the state dept fed credit union along with Amer citz overseas allowed me to open an account with my Thai address.  I am not sure if someone wanted to open an acct and is

a foreigner if they can join the myriad of folks around the world that fit into your category.  If you check the SDFCU.org address, you will see the many different organizations if one is a member of, can open and acct with this bank.  So far after 3+ years, they have provided excellent service.  Not sure if that helps but can also let you bank legally.

Been with them for 30 years, never an issue...........

Since the RTP is a big pyramid scheme, and up until recently the Biggest Joke was the top dog, it make sense that he has hundreds of millions, if not billions of baht hidden somewhere, and that the straight guy routine was a sham, that so many bought into. However, I am always skeptical of an investigation into one of their own. It rarely results in much, other than a big show that goes nowhere.

    Oh, the irony..........

Not only can you apply for it while you are in the US, it's arguably more convenient to do it that way. When the BOI endorses your application, you apply via eVisa (I believe LA is the designated consulate for Hawaii, not that this matters that much, except that you MUST use the correct one), and the visa is issued as a document you print out and carry with you to enter Thailand. You do not mail your passport anywhere, you do not collect a pile of documents and trudge off to an office in Bangkok, etc.

Assuming you have all your documents in order, the whole thing from start to finish can be done in under 6 weeks from the comfort of your home in Hawaii.

Thank you all for the informative replies, I am not ready to travel yet, wonder if there is a time limit on using the completed eVisa - 3 months, 6 months??   Does it have a 'must enter Kingdom before (date)' on the eVisa.............Cheers

Hi I applied for my initial LTR visa last year while I was outside of Thailand.  The LTR BoI unit approved the application and issued an approval letter. I then had 60 days to either make an appointment in person in Thailand, or to use the approval letter to apply for an LTR e-visa from a US consulate.  I chose to apply for the LTR e-visa from the NY consulate and received the pdf of the visa very quickly.  I then had plenty of time to enter Thailand with the LTR e-visa print out.

I then had plenty of time to enter Thailand with the LTR e-visa print out.  Thank you for the information, very helpful, is there a time limit that you have to use the e-Visa if you are not ready to travel??       Cheers

Here's one for you, over the course of a year I give my mate who works in Bangkok approx. £10,000 in the UK for his regular investing there & stuff he buys for his kids etc..., he pays the equivalent into my Thailand Bank Account.

Am I bringing this money into Thailand?

How is it deposited??  If in a UK Bank account, then no you're not bringing money into Thailand.  I would suspect he pays taxes on his income in Bangkok so taxes have been paid - all is good.   Cheers

How did you manage to stop paying US taxes? I have not lived in the US since 2005 and always have had to pay up....and no I don't agree with spending my money on endless warmongering.

The only ways I know are "getting a second passport and  being a Native American and living on a Reservation".   Big misconception is you don't have to pay US taxes after being overseas after so many years........The long arm of the IRS will come and get you, there are lot's of people in jail for income tax evasion..........don't do it.  You can take a Foreign Income Tax deduction if Thailand ever taxes your income, but I don't see that affecting most people here.      Cheers
