  1. i moved to thailand from australia 18 years ago. best move i ever made. went back recently for two weeks and tried to get my return flight bought forward .aus is very expensive compared to thailand. check out from guest houses and hotels is 10am whereas every where else is midday. great after a night out til 2am[on holiday] beer is 200 baht a schooner and cigs are 600 baht a packet. its the only country that only allows you to bring in 50 cigs duty free. i could not live the life i live overhere in thailand on my superannuation pension 80,000 baht a month

  2. I have a Kasikorn account for about 20 years, never had any problem. Transfert from Europe to my account take at most 48 hours. Their online banking is simply tops.

same here i use bank west in perth west aus they send my money in aud every 28 days send it on a monday and i get an sms from my kasikorn bank around 9am on the tuesday[next day]

amount deposited imn my kasikorn acc pattaya in thai baht. last month it was put in my pattaya account the same day mon afternooni

  3. i applied on a monday and i got a phone call the next afternoon[tues] saying they could connect me in 10 minutes time. they arrived promptly and had it all up and running in less than an hour great reception and about 20 channels in english, agree about no english pundits at half time but as it is less than half the price of true visions i cant complain.

    i live in pattaya

  4. i have my electric, water and phone bills paid directly from my kasikorn account [pattaya klang branch] ask the bank they filled in a form for each .i then went to the electric.water and telephone office with my mia noi. the offices then filled in another form and took the ones the bank had filled in. just gave the forms from the companies concerned to my bank and my bills were automatically deducted each month. have done this over 3 years ago.just make sure you have sufficient funds in your bank account

  5. my wife does my 90 days report as i had a letter from the hospital but they never ask for it. last time my mate did it along with his own reporting. when my yearly extension was due i went to immigration by taxi. my wife went inside and explained i was unable to walk unaided. an immigration assistant came outside to the taxi, took all the relevant docs and went back inside she came back after about ten minutes with my new extension in my passport. extremely helpful service and got my passport back immediatrly instead of having to return later as before

this happened in march 2013 at jontien immigration

  6. there always seem more negative than positive comments complaining about rules etc. if we dont like it you dont have to state the obvious, also when someone asks for help you always get smart remarks which makes the person asking a question think twice about asking another one. they take the time and effort to ask for advice and get knowall remarks from so called experts

  7. I have just gone through exchange rates for US, OZ, Canadian Dollars, British pound, Euro and some others. The exchange rate for some has gone up but it's so small you wouldn't even notice. Thailand, the hub of bullsh_t.

More or less the same as you. I changed some US$ last Friday and would get almost the same rate if I changed today; the pound and Qatar Riyal also about the same. Very fractional changes that are only noticeable if you are channging very large sums. Another little white lie to make us all feel better!

My pension arrived from the UK yesterday and is valued at over 2,000 Baht less than last month so maybe The Baht is staying level but some other currencies are taking a dip!

mine was down 3000 baht as well aussie private pension
