Do you mean an evaporative/swamp cooler? Great in the desert or for make-up air, but the humidity is too high in Thailand for them to be effective.
Again, were it me, and I was going to stay a while, I just bite the bullet and replace it.
Yes. Okay i was hoping for them to be good 😅 Yes i will do it and have it done with. I have been without aircon for couple of days now and i feel much better overall! I wish there where some good healthy alternatives.

You need to understand that as of July 15th 2024 when they went from 30-day free entry to 60 day free entry the rule concerning two free entry by land in a calendar year was rescinded.
BUT
with that being said, not having a limit on the number of land border bounces you can do for a free entry stamp does not mean it's unlimited entry.
Many borders are requiring one or even two nights stay outside the country if you do one of those "I'm going to save money and bounce myself" trips. Some borders are requiring that you show proof of onward travel in 60 days, proof of funds, and proof of lodging for the time you're going to be here once you come back in.
The safest way to do a border bounce is with a service that takes you to the border, get you out and back in the same day and bring you back to wherever you started.
Those services have it set up at the border so their people can get out and back without any issue no matter what their entry stay history has been.
Many people doing self-bounces have been told by passport control at the border that they are allowed to leave but they cannot come back in by land and instead need to fly back in.
That's pretty much how it's working right now for "do-it-yourselfers",
it is 100% up to the office of your standing in front of at passport control when you come to stamp back in as far as how it's going to go for you.
Thank you for your response. It seems like people on Facebook and TikTok just spewing out miss information 😅

If you only have to pay 30%, and you plan to be in the unit a while, just buy a new unit and be done with it.
Yeah or buy water cooler 40l, but not sure if they are any good, so you have any experience with them?

Landlord probably thinks ACs are expensive, look on Lazada at TCL and send them a link, 12k BTU are under 9k baht and whisper quiet
I think they know they have been in this business for more than a decade. The unit i have is 3500 watt when the cooling is on. That takes a lot of electricity. The old ones are not specially efficient when it come to electric cost.

Hey everyone,
I’ve been hearing different things about border runs lately and I just want to clear it up.
From what I understand, the old rule that said you're only allowed to do border runs two times per year is no longer in effect. Supposedly, border runs are currently unlimited — but I’m not 100% sure if that’s really the case.
So I wanted to ask:
What’s the actual current situation?
Are border runs now unlimited, or is the 2-times-per-year rule still being enforced? If anyone has recent experience or solid information about this, I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks in advance!

If you are renting, why is the landlord not paying for it?
If the coil is aluminum, it should be replaced as they are very difficult to fix. What is the warranty with the new coil?
If your rent is low, and the landlord will not pay, and you do not want to move, just get it fixed.
They told me its bcs a lot of there aircons are getting broke and they always have to fix them and it cost them a lot. But we agree on that i only have to pay 30%. One technician told me they would put a new aircon for the inside unit instead of the 5500 baht. I have seen new aircons for 6000 for the inside unit on facebook market. I don't know why my landlord dont change them since they have to maintain them all the time, they are very old. I did not ask about the warranty but i will. Yeah i will get it fixed.

What is the size, brand and age of the unit?
Do you own the unit?
Did they show you where it is leaking?
Is the coil copper or aluminum?
Does the 4,500 include recharging the system and a warranty?

Leaks at the connections are generally pretty easy to fix. Leaks on a copper coil are more difficult, but fixable. Leaks on an aluminum coil are fixable, but so problematic that with a home unit, you are better off replacing it.
How much will it cost to fix in pattaya? Thanks

Hi everyone,
Right now I’m on a tourist visa, and I’ve heard mixed experiences — some people say getting a TIN is easy, while others say it can be a bit of a hassle depending on who you talk to at the Revenue Department. Is it only possible to get it if you stay 180 days in Thailand in a kalander year?
I’m also wondering:-
Can I get a TIN while on a tourist visa?
-
Do the yellow house book or pink Thai ID card include or help generate a TIN?
-
Any tips or recent experiences on how to successfully apply for a TIN?
I really appreciate any help or advice. Thanks in advance!-

I’ve been staying in Thailand for almost 2.5 years, doing border runs and having two ED visas during that time. I’ve never flown out of Thailand—only done land border runs. Now, after my last border run, I’m planning to apply for a visa extension (I know it costs 1,900 baht), but I’m wondering—could I run into any issues? Is there a chance they could deny me?
Has anyone had experience with this kind of situation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I don't know which documents you have in mind, but I have accounts here opened 30 years ago, and unless I had opened additional accounts at those banks in the last 2 years, I have been invited to sign additional documents about declaring I have nothing to do with the US.
If i opened accounts with those banks in the last 2 years, I also had to sign those documents.

For accounts opened before 16 August 2023, they are considered pre-existing accounts under the CRS (Common Reporting Standard). Here's how it works:
- Pre-existing Individual Accounts (opened before 16 August 2023) may not automatically be reported unless the account balance exceeds the $250,000 USD threshold. If it does, enhanced due diligence and reporting may be required.
- If the balance is below $250,000, it typically will not be automatically reported unless there is a change in circumstances that requires further review or reporting (such as if the account holder's tax residency status changes or the account undergoes significant transactions).
For pre-existing accounts:
- If the account holder's self-certification indicates they are a tax resident of a reportable jurisdiction (like UK), and their account balance exceeds the $250,000 USD threshold, it may be subject to CRS reporting.
- For accounts below the threshold, the bank may not have the obligation to report unless other specific circumstances apply.
So if you open your account before 16 August 2023 and have under 250000 usd there will unlikely be any report is my understanding

I don't think it is saying what you think it is. Entity accounts are things like company/corporation accounts.
The stuff you quoted on individual accounts is to do with the due diligence or know your customer information.
The flow chart on I think page 44 of the Thai CRS link shows when stuff potentially is or is not reported and has nothing to do with the size of the balance. That is my understanding but happy to be proved wrong.

Unless you are hiding money from being taxed (evasion) what are you worried about.......
Your details will be mixed in presumably to all your other countrypeople's details and those details as defined (depending on latest requirements of CRS) sent to your country's tax office who then may or may not do something with it.......
Suggest you read up on CRS if you are that concerned -

The reporting threshold for foreign financial accounts under Thailand's CRS (Common Reporting Standard) guidance is THB 7,500,000.
- For pre-existing entity accounts: If the account balance is THB 7,500,000 or below, it is not required to be reported. However, if the balance exceeds THB 7,500,000 at the end of any calendar year, it must be reviewed and reported
-
For pre-existing individual accounts:
- Lower value accounts: If the balance is THB 30,000,000 or below, they have a reduced due diligence requirement.
- High-value accounts: If the balance exceeds THB 30,000,000, enhanced due diligence procedures apply.
These thresholds apply unless a financial institution chooses to report all accounts voluntarily.

Individual transfers are not reported, balances are reported.
Whether or not you have a Thai TIN doesn't matter.
Whether or not you stay more then 180 days should not matter, either
But how likely is that Thailand will report this, I did not hear from anywhere that anyone got a call or a mail from there home government that they have to tax a transaction

So the balance of 5000 usd will be reported but not where they come from?

Aircon cleaning and repair

Same here they changed to a new unit i guess that's how they make money instead of fixing it they just tell you need a whole new one to make the big buck. As a tip ask them to make a diagnosis and check for issues, but ask them to pinpoint exactly where the issue is and show evidence.
On facebook market indoor and outdoor unit cost 7000-9000 baht and its from good brands maybe couple of years old, if i am not wrong some are new for that price.
