  1. We could say, make money with a small investment.. I'm from Sweden. I feel that this 2 million bath company is a lot of money for just starting an internet cafe in thailand. I also lack knowledge about company economy, accounting etc.. Can I use this 2 million baht to buy things (computers etc) to the company? The reason why I ask is because I have been running a small business home in sweden before and we have many different company forms, some more suitable for small businesses.

The 2 million Baht does not have to be paid in cash. The shares can be paid with non-cash assets as well. However, any cash paid for the register capital can be used towards the business operations.

Ok I see.. And if I'm married to a thai national, is it enough with 1 million baht?

Next question is, if I have this company, can I rent two shops and run two different kinds of businesses? Like an internet cafe and a beauty salon for example?

  2. Hello Again!

What are the cheapest company form available to a farang? Suitable for running a small business with not too big investment (clothes shop/internet cafe etc). I can marry a thai if it helps. I can also have the company in a thai's name if there is more options available but I would prefer of course to be the owner. My thai partner has no knowledge at all in this area.

Thanks for all sorts of replies

    Some questions first?

What is the purpose of this business? Make money or hobby? What is your nationality?

  4. For example this 2 million baht registered capital? Is this only for the structure of the shares or can I use this money for paying rent for shop, buying computers, etc?

If I'm married to a thai, is 1 mtb enough? Is there other, "cheaper" company forms?

This is the most essential question for me.. I know for sure its a tough business these days.. I just want to know about the rules.. not if my idea of business is good or not. I thinks its a too big investment to make if you dont know if it will hold or not, for such a small business. Thanx anyway.

  5. It's a long stretch from the first and the last question.

Anyway, do you think that kind of a shop is worth much these days when home ADSL is available almost anywhere? Even in apartments/condos with PABX and no direct phone lines.

I guess not, I just want to understand the rules. I would though try to rent a shop in a tourist area, so I can get the tourists surfing. And also sell some clothes and other products that I believe could be attractive.

  6. Hello!

I'm looking in to the possibility of setting up a small internet cafe in thailand. I've been reading a lot on different websites and the company formation thing is the most difficult thing for me to understand.

For example this 2 million baht registered capital? Is this only for the structure of the shares or can I use this money for paying rent for shop, buying computers, etc?

If I'm married to a thai, is 1 mtb enough? Is there other, "cheaper" company forms?

If I would register this 2 million baht company, can it be the holder of two businesses in very different categories? Like an internet shop and a beauty salon as well, or do I need two companies for this?

If I dont want to own any land, Can I own 100% of the shares?

Happy for all sorts of replies!

    Thanx

  7. JobsDB, or any other jobs website for that matter, is not a particularly good way for a farrang to find IT work here.

Let me know if you want more help / guidance.

Dantilley, if you could help me or guide me, I would be more than happy!

The places I look now is stickmanbangkok.com, thaivisa and bangkok post and the nation.. Is there anymore known sources? Do u guys know if it maybe would be better to go for Singapore? And if so, is jobsdb a good location then? I really like jobsdb, its smart and useful.. But nobody wants me! :o

    Anyway thanks for helping out

I have searched for an IT position on and off for about 3 years now and have had 1 interview. My personal opinion is that unless you are a real guru and know every programming language/architecture backwards and forwards AND have senior level management experience, there is almost no chance of scoring an IT job in thailand. Thai programmers will happily work for 20k baht a month. Even if you do get a position, unless you were sent here by a company back home I'm not sure if the pay here will be worth it to justify the long hours that most IT jobs demand. I knew one guy who was in an IT job here and ended up going back to teaching english!

Ive been considering teaching.. the problem is that I'm from Sweden and I'm not a native speaker.. I dont even know if I can get work like that or if they will pay me even smaller or something.. and I dont have the tefl either.. is there other non-native english speakers here that teach english here that could shed some light on the subject? Thanks.
