  1. "The British citizen’s dire situation is compounded by the absence of travel insurance" Not interested. Go abroad get insurance it's not expensive either
  2. What they are saying is government can't change, amend or create new laws now. Only in Thailand does that sound remotely sensible
  3. If I have health and find myself retired in Thailand,as I will soon have my nursing degree and a masters in respiratory medicine ( being done now as a mature student in my mid 30's). I will be happy to teach the state kids English and by extension science. Give them a leg up on those trying to hold them down.
  4. I thought we was all filthy falangs and low spending non quality tourists, that had to have 60 day visas made as difficult as possible with loads of paperwork. There well and truly stuffed on this. Thailand is old news as most will have done it, the novelty with a 20 plus hour flight at triple prices and 30% more for every hotel with most being old.with zero maitance is just not going to fly. Lastly as I have already said the thais have made sure we know as westerners we are unwelcome guests that they tolerate. It's actually amusing that they have decided this we spend more when that that's always been the case
  5. Not very bright are they. Not only will this have spread around Taiwan like wildfire and put loads of them off. and single travellers like myself in the uk. But the main language in Taiwan is Mandarin. The Chinese are already worried about being victims of crime and not coming in, now they have been told they won't get medical care when unconscious having a heart attack in an ambulance regardless of there insurance. If the government had common sense the manager who made this decision would be thrown in prison and made an example of.
  6. This not wanting to bring children Into poverty, low wages and crap educational prospects as well as finding I suspect housing and general living expenses unaffordable. Like the uk they are choosing not to have children. Good for them. Thailands rich want population growth they need to share more.of the wealth.
  7. In the uk you would build housing and rent. Otherwise it's livestock. Personally I would rent the land and let someone else deal with the farming headache
  8. His screwed. The old guard will not want a competent politician running against them they will now use the courts to remove him. Best thing for him to do is return to.america and focus on his business and let someone else run maybe serving as an advisor on the quiet. Altho right everyone was telling him to drop 112 because he did not have the numbers to push through the change.
  9. Should charge the tax to all hotels and Airbnb. That will get them recompensed for this. It's just occurred to me our travel insurance will deny claims based on this government insurance covering our bills. Great. So government hospitals only.
  10. Wages are undoubtedly higher in Israel. I can well imagine the bulk will choose not to panic. Especially now with all the extra war work that will need to be done. What exactly apart from crushing poverty do they have to come back to ?
  11. Flood water is conductive. I would feel very vulnerable every time.it rains if every car in Thailand was ev
  12. A wise investment given the large number of deaths in the south from Muslim terrorists. Obviously they have a large navel presence. Thai logic at its most stupid.
  13. You would be right to. The us has banned them and the eu was asking though questions on this subject. Airlines in trouble always cut corners
  14. I suspect thaskins dr's are massage therapists and personal chef in disguise. Man's in perfect health
  15. yes it destroys your brain and lungs both of which wont heal like the liver
  16. A competent defence minister and or general would have done something about the terrorists in the south running amok. So completely useless he is
  17. So after allowing many thais to buy the drug legally they are going to remove the legal supply. This will mean thais who are most likely addicted will buy it illegally welcoming in drug dealers and gangs. Brilliant move. Well thought out this one
  18. Could try Increasing teacher pay, improving the schools especially around science laboratory'sif they were serious. Instead it's outdated rubbish that didn't work the first time
  19. No. First world country's build de salination plants
  20. Nato equipment for Chinese hardware to a unelected government. No chance
  21. On top of a global recession. We have had a government tell us how much it's hates us all. Then there is all the negative press like the uk girl who was raped on koh tao and the police blamed her. Add to that the deformation laws and how traveling in Thailand is now as expensive as going to a European country or Caribbean, if your not interested in the sex scene why bother?. Same for Japan my understanding is okinowa is a nice sunny Japanese island that uses yen if you want a short break for example. I am definitely thinking long and hard about my usual trip to Asia if I want to to go Thailand I just can't pretend the costs aren't through the roof anymore and somewhere else like Caribbean would end up cheaper in the long run
  22. Are the thais actually buying this tho. That is the question
  23. Betray the entire electorate for one man. Can only end well
