Thai food in Thailand there is of course a great deal of competition, so of course its cheaper than international cuisine.

    Then there's this -

    Phad Krapao, egg B60

Essentially same ingredients: hamburger B120++ (no egg)

Thai chilli's are not especially hot. I snack on them all the time like if wife is cooking or especially at restaurant and I'm super hungry - I eat the pik nam pla chilli's. I'm just talking about slowly nibbling not eating a mouthful.

I especially love pickled chilli's which are not hot at all. These I will eat by mouthful.

Always ok with Jalapeno even before I arrived here. I think the UK and N EU really suffer most from the cuisine

  2. Thai chilli's add no flavor so there's that.

Tourists have limited knowledge give em credit for trying something different donchaknow

It's the expat diet and long term backpackers that is shonky af

Foreigners don't really eat Thai food. Maybe only if married lol.

BBQ, Phad Thai, Fried rice, Khaosoi, Masaman, omelette, 711 sandwiches and the odd bowl of noodles or green curry.

I can still do and enjoy five medium chilli's in som tam Thai.

Proper Issan food can be withering and that's coming from someone that can eat spicy food.

Getting older, I don't enjoy the heat as much. Sometimes my wife just forgets to cut it back a few chilli's and it's basically inedible for me.

This afternoon just brought home minced sirloin and we had phad khapao. My absolute fave and full on go-to dish for decades. It's savory and aromatic it's great spicy but still enjoyable otherwise

Funny thing is, she's likely to make a large jump in her viewership from all the publicity.
She's gonna be making even more money off of her videos now. lol
Controversy will end up making her even more popular. Most won't see a big problem with what she did and she'll gain a ton of Chinese sympathizers and she'll be raking in a lot more money than she had to pay in any fine.

She was also on some big ticket visa and living in some fancy building. Then.. does Thailand want more bad press with Chinese? So, this is going nowhere. Very poorly played by cops. Should have just had a quiet talk with her.

I do fully support her posting whatever she thinks and being a woman - FEELS about the place either true or not.

I cannot see anywhere on the website that mentions "retirement" income.

Then they don't differentiate. It's all just income.

The point I'd made earlier with pension income is that in most cases the person will be filing taxes in home country as thresholds so low. Even if you combine super low pension with investments you gotta hit the taxable level - therefore, gotta file. Issue is moot.

In most cases in US: social security is taxable as most pension income at federal level.

There are quite a few of us who make a nice living here. We pay taxes, employ a lot of people, and generally contribute to society. We don't tend to bang on about it. 😉

I'm not sure why working here and making money makes us "idiots".

If he's referring to teachers he would be correct with those numbers and opinions

I see my mistake. On my phone** I needed to slide over to the fees. Do you see all those 'other fees' under implant? Those are commonly associated with the procedure.

As someone has just verified, they paid US 2800 in CM for the procedure, 7k US. I think this is 1.5k over the top. My mother had this done for about 5500usd

Click on the link tab marked "fees", the prices are al there, don't tell me you can't even navigate around a web site, no wonder you get ripped off so much! The implant cost is 40k, the crown is 10k, read the site and see for yourself!!!

I did that and sent you the link. There is a webpage stating fees but no fees.

No fees nor hyperlinks in Firefox

That's because you aren't able to escape the safety of the farang ghetto's and the tourist trap areas of the big city.

BTW, here's a heads up, dentistry is not the same as heart transplants, there are literally thousands of excellent highly skilled dentists in Thailand, it's shame you've been too lazy to go find one that is priced normally. Gold standard my arse. Interested in cataract surgery? At the Rutnin in Bangkok it's upwards of 140k per eye, a couple of hospitals near by offer the same thing for 24k, this is the same 15 minutes procedure that ophthalmologists do all overt world, in unsanitary conditions and in the backs of mobile hospitals. Still, if you wanted to pay the highest possible price, that's your prerogative.

    You're absolutely right.

Don't mind me I've only lived in seven Asian countries in thirty two years. Traveled from Afghanistan to Raja Ampat and north to Korean DMZ. Spent extensive time in every South and East Asian country save for Brunei

First set foot in BKK in 92. Please, tell me all about my ignorance of the country and region.

Yes, CM is brokie and geriatric heaven.

The government is probably targeting Thais with overseas income,

Yes, this is the target. Nevertheless, nothing to dissuade or assuage expat community not to worry - so, worry

In the end, I think it will be much ado about nothing with tax treaties. I just don't fancy filing an additional tax form in half to deal with additional scrutiny.

Here's the complete link, change the language setting in the upper right hand corner and see the costs page, 50k all in and the doctor is an associate professor at CMU..https://www.indenteclinic.com/en/

I've been able to make it deeper the website. When you do get to fees there's no fee there's no hyperlink.

You may or may not know that many Dental operations and clinics will break out the cost for an implant. Therefore, the basic work for implant in some cases might be as low in some clinics as 50,000 k agreed. Then you have a number of other things that could be associated with the procedure. Finally, what is not included in that price is the crown which is often another 15 to 30,000.

    Fees no fees?

Those are sucker farang prices, the cost in the NOrth at an expert clinic is 50k max.

While I agree the price is over the top and DH now caters more to medical tourism it has been a gold standard for decades. Sheryl uses/d it as I did for decades.

A rear implant for 50k all in at a top Thai clinic. Lol.

Not sure what you sent me it's in Thai.

Funny, all the brokies in CM telling real Thailand how it is.

No one has raised the issue faced by old boys on pensions who won't be able to afford to take their wifey back home with them if they have to leave Thailand over this.

Or the pensioners who've got kids and won't be able to afford to take their kids with them.

However, I think this whole issue will blow over.

This is an issue that the Thai government historically cares little or nothing about.

My experience is very diff. Blood test in NC, USA =$250. In Chiang Mai = $42.

What med stuff have you encountered that's only 30% discounted? Even botox is 50% off.

The old Dental Hospital on 49 (now in On Nut) is similarly priced. Implant rear tooth 150k. This work can easily be had in the United States for about the same price.

Waiting for Cambodia to "build up their infrastructure" will def exceed your lifetime.

I used to live in Phnom Penh in the early 90s. I cannot believe the changes. I believe it's probably fully livable as Thailand now. Cambodia is easier to get set up than Thailand in many ways and now according to EF First surveys better English.

For myself, I love the water and Cambodia just lacks the beautiful beaches of Thailand
