  1. HI,

I don't have a dog in Bangkok yet but I am working on it. Yesterday I went for a walk in Rama IX park near Sinakarin. I did not see anyone walking their dogs but a few strays were milling about and some street dogs were hanging around the guards sentry points. I wonder if people start walking their dogs with doggy bags if the trend would catch on?

By the way I am looking for a whippet. Any leads here? I plan to bring one back from Australia in April. I am a semi retired veterinarian from Queensland and miss having a pet here.

I went to Rama IX park last weekend hoping to walk my dogs there but there there is a thai language sign saying that no pets are allowed in. I did not try to take them in after I saw the sign but perhaps no one would have said anything. Does anyone have experience trying to get their dog in this park?

  2. Does anyone know the Thai law / most likely outcome if a marriage which has been registered between a farang man and a Thai lady breaks up? What rights to property / bank accounts does the lady have under divorce laws and what is the court's most likely decision? Also, is a pre-nuptial agreement enforceable?

  3. Does anyone have recent experience with registering a child with the British embassy? A friend is going through the process and finding it quite complictaed. He officially married his wife after the child was born and the child is now 10 months old. The embassy said he needs to conduct a domicile test interview. Does anyone know what the criteria are for registering children with the embassy, have recent experience with this or know what the domicile test is intended to test for?One of the questions is apparently - Where would you like to die and be buried?

  4. I find that in general the quality of the Thai subtitles on cable TV and genuine DVDs is quite good except for the odd misunderstanding on the part of the translator. The quality of the Thai subtitles on counterfeit DVDs is terrible to the point of making it practically impossible to follow the movie from just reading the subtitles.

  5. As there were no replies, I contacted UBC myself. For those people interested, this is the reply that I got -

I then sent another email as I did not understand what they meant and they answered -

I think that this means that they will be showing the ashes on pay per view channel 72 but they have not fixed the price yet.

  6. I installed IE7 and then a few days later I got a message from my Windows Live One Care that told me that I should download some updates. After downloading the updates, my PC restarted and IE6 re-installed with IE7 nowwhere to be seen. Quite similar to Gary A's experience. Reinstalled IE7 but Live One Care is still telling me to update again but I'm ignoring it.

  7. Does anyone know whether it is possible to receive coverage of the upcoming Ashes series on TV in Thailand? I have UBC's standard package but know that none of these channels will be showing live coverage. Does anyone know how one would go about getting an additional channel that will be showing live coverage?
