  1. 1. I will be traveling to Thailand again in December. I would like to stay for 90 days. As a U.S. citizen I can get a 60 visa exempt. If I leave Thailand for a few days, will I get another 60 day stamp when I return? I did this last year and received the new 60 days. However the immigration official called over another official and they took their time reviewing it before stamping it. The Chicago Thai consulate won’t commit to an answer. 2. if I would purchase a 60 day multiple entry visa for $200, I can come and go. If I leave at the end of 60 days will they stamp me for an additional 60 days when I return a few days later? 3. I am considering applying for a non-o retirement visa. If the process is not complete in 60 days (which would give me a 90 day extension), if I have leave after 60 days, how does the non-o get completed? 4. since I would like to stay for 90 days, my departing ticket would be after 90 days. I can purchase a ticket to another country dated during my 60 visa exempt period to show for a departing ticket. If I use it to leave for a few days, I still face the question of an additional 60 day stamp upon returning. Can anyone in this forum help with an answer? thanks
  2. Before Covid I was able to enter Thailand as Visa Exempt for 30 days. I exited Thailand and returned several times and always received another 30 day stamp. During covid, entries seemed to get stricter, so I purchased a single entry 60 day visa through the Chicago Thai consulate. On entry, I was asked for covid docs, hotel reservation and return flight. After covid subsided, I always purchased a single entry visa, but was not asked for a return flight document. The last time I was in Thailand was Jan & Feb this year for 6 weeks on this type of visa. This trip I arrive in Thailand on Dec 30 2024. With the new VE rules I can stay for 60 days, so no need to purchase a single entry visa. I will have a ticket to Cambodia to show exit if asked. It will be one way so not to look like a visa run. After several days in Cambodia I will return to Bangkok on a one way ticket for a new VE stamp. I will have my original return to the US ticket in case I am asked to show it. I will probably not stay more than 60 days in Thailand total. Any holes in this plan, but want to make sure I can exit and return.
  3. Thank for the response. It simplifies things if I can get a new 60 day stamp. My return flight on Feb 28 is at 2:15am. I should be going through immigration before midnight on the 27th which is day 60. I can check into my flight beginning at 11:15pm and am usually first in line. I am business class so security is also faster. So I think I will be ok. Thanks again.
  4. I am a U.S. citizen. I was last in Thailand in January and February on a 60 day single entry visa. I will be in Thailand beginning on Dec 30th 2024 and leave on Feb 28 2024, 60 days. Under the new visa rules I do not need a visa, only a stamped entry. However, I want to travel to Cambodia for a few days and the return to Thailand. Will I get a new 60 day entry stamp? I will still leave on Feb 28 (have ticket), or do I need a 60 day multiple entry visa? ETA, do I need it?
  5. I have a question about staying in Thailand. I am a U.S. citizen so I qualify for a visa exempt entry. On some previous visits I have just applied online for a 60 day e-visa before my trip, with a U.S. Thai Consulate, since my stay was over 30 days. My last visit was in July and August 2023 for 30 days so no 60 day e-visa was necessary. I will going to Thailand again in January 2024. I plan to stay for 6 weeks. I will have a return ticket. Instead of applying for a 60 day e-visa, I want to know if I can visit another SEA country for a few days, and then return to Thailand and get another 30 visa exempt stamp which would cover the rest of my 6 week stay. My return ticket is dated past 30 days, but within 60 days. In the past I have heard that Thailand may not want to issue another 30 day exempt visa. Please clarify. Also, If I get a 60 day e-visa and want to travel to another country during the 60 days, I would need either a multiple entry e-visa or apply for a re-entry permit at an immigration office. Are there any immigration offices near Asok? Thanks
