Embassy Letter - Can we use last year's - or must we have new one ?
Combo - (Pension + Bank Deposit) - must money be in Bank for any period of time ?

They didn't mention anything about Retired Visa's Still wondering if they are going to continue to make us check in every 90 days? And if they will ever change the 1 year visa to a 5 year visa or more? We travel a lot and sometimes it is difficult to get back in 90 days to do you check in.
But you do NOT need to get back - in 90 days !!!
When you Leave - the 90 days STOP
and they start from 1 again when you return !!!

I allso was under the immpression that the visa exempt was now extendable 30 days,I thought a 30 day VOA could now be exstened 30 days. He says only 7 still.
as of reports two weeks ago.
Now they say the visa exempt is extendable max 90 days "but" two paragraphs later say
that flyin-flyout workers on visa exempt can only extend a further 7 days ???
entering on a 30 day visa exempt ??? "thanks for the clarification"....................
VOA (Visa on Arrival)
and Visa Exempt
Are two very different things !

Many Interesting Opinions
And thanks to those who contributed information.
But not many comments on what Visas are Available.
My choice would be Philippines - but not Manila
maybe Cebu ...
Last time I enquired Retirement Visas were available there.

There is no permit to exit Thailand
Any body here Legally is free to leave at any time.
The Re-Entry Permit allows you to return on the same Terms
So if you have a Retirement Extension - the Re-Entry Permit keeps that Extension and its expiry date valid
90 day reporting has NOTHING to do with Visas / Extensions / Re-entry Permits
90 day reporting is a separate matter - ANYBODY in Thailand for 90 days has to report their address.Bill

No, you can't get a Thai "retirement visa" while living in Cambodia.
A "retirement visa" is NOT a visa, it is in fact an extension of your current Non immigrant O visa based on you living in Thailand for more than 90 days at a time. The qualifying reason is retirement in Thailand.
That's why you have to do 90 day reporting.
You enter Thailand on a visa you get from a Thai consulate, either for 90 days or perhaps a multi-entry visa for a one year period (if you can get one, becoming difficult now in Southeast Asia).
Then in Thailand you extend that visa for a year based upon retirement in Thailand and LIVING IN THAILAND.
Therefore, if you are living in Cambodaia and you need to renew your Thai retirement "visa/extension" you can't do it because that extension/visa is based on you LIVING in Thailand for more than 90 days.
Do you see the logic that immigration uses?
If your extension expires while you are outside of Thailand, you need to start the process over again to get a new retirement extension.
I have not heard of your idea before.
I do not think that 90 day reports are required to "Qualify" for a Retirement extension.
I have had Retirement extensions for 15 years
I regularly Travel outside Thailand
And at times I am not here for 90 days - and consequently at those times I am not required to do a 90 day Report
This does NOT have any effect on my Retirement Extension.

Hi Apache
The alternative suggested by Lopburi does have advantages
for consideration.
We all bow to Lopburi’s superior knowledge.
To revert to your original plan
You already have a Non Immigrant Visa
You are in Thailand on a Non Immigrant Visa Extension for Retirement.
If you want to Extend the Retirement Extension
you will complete Form TM.7 and for Reason of Extension write “Retirement”If you now wish to apply for an extension for Marriage
You complete the same Form TM.7 and for Reason write “Marriage
to Thai National”
The Supporting Documents are of Course different and have been listed already. It is unfortunate if the Staff have insufficient knowledge /
experience.
If you wish to proceed with this plan …Maybe you need to speak to the Head of your Immigration
Office?

As long as the account is a normal cash type passbook or statement account it is fine. The problem comes with bank account based on holdings/stocks/bonds and such as they would not be accepted. But normal passbook savings account is never a problem and does not have to be a dedicated account - just as long as it has the amount required for the time required. Normal fixed time deposits in cash are normally also allowed.
You have a non immigrant O visa entry to have a retirement extension of stay - you just change the reason for your extension of stay at the next extension time. Only the original entry of non immigrant is required - you can continue for life without another as long as you do not leave without a re-entry permit.
Much obliged. So what you are saying is once you have had a Non O Visa such as I have had and then went to the Retirement Visa I could switch back again to the Non O Visa in Udon Thani without having to leave the country, just have the hassle of more paperwork correct??
In strict Terminology - there is no such Visa as a "Retirement Visa"
You are on the Original "Non Immigrant O Visa " - for purposes of Retirement (with annual extensions)
And you can apply to change the Purpose - to "Marriage"

Why not ask them direct rather than rely on past experiences as the requirements might have changed: http://www.ambafrance-th.org/
Answer - Because >
1. I cannot read French
2. Their phone numbers have responses in French and Thai and I speak neither.
3. My Friend in France would appreciate the information today.

Can any member tell me please ...
What does the French Embassy require
for them to Issue an Income Certificate for a Thai Retirement Visa
Thank you

Hi
I would appreciate any Indian Passport Holder
who has entered Thailand recently on a Tourist Visa
Can you please tell your experience?
How many days stay were you given By Airport Immigration please?
It is generally Accepted that 30 days is the correct number
But my Friends holding Indian Passport have always been give 60 days
in the past 3 years and until recently as May 2011.
Now their Travel Agent in India is stressing that only 30 days will be given.
And we are trying to determine if there has in fact been a Change
in what Airport Immigration are now granting.
Thanks

Well I agree - but of course the Tourist Visa Sticker
the last time I saw one does not say how many days stay it is for.
The days of stay are fixed by the Immigration Officers Date Stamp that he or she applies.
It seems that all Agencies in India will say 30 days
But past experience shows that in the case of 3 other friends that 60 days has been given.
And just to add to my previous example where he was given a Re-entry Permit valid to the
Full 60 days without question / Comment / raised eyebrows by Immigration Head Office staff
but upon Re-Entry to the Kingdom nothing was said either.
The purpose of this Topic now is to Discover Current Experience of
Indian Passport holders entering with a Tourist Visa.
Bill
-
Well this has happened twice - on two separate visits
During BOTH Visits he has obtained
a re-entry Permit - valid for the full 60 days
from Immigration Head Office in Bangkok
So there was Opportunity for the "Mistake"
to be "Discovered"

Anybody?
Do you know any Indian Passport Holder
Who entered Thailand in the past month
on a Tourist Visa?
How many Days Stay were they Given by Airport Immigration?
Thanks

Hi Maestro
Is your Previous Post on this Subject still Valid?
Or can you kindly direct me to an update?
A friend - Indian Passport Holder who wants to stay 2 months was told today that
a Tourist Visa will give him only one month stay in the Kingdom.
But the same agent gave the same info to another Indian passport holder
just a few months ago but they were given 2 months stay by Airport Immigration.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Its Expiry will be the same as your Current Permission to stay Extension for Retirement - in February 2012

BTW, I've edited your topic title to give a clearer picture of what you are asking.
Whilst I did give a specific example of my current information requirement
My OP was for more General Information for General use >
Can anybody recommend a particular website for
RELIABLE and UPTODATE
Visa Requirements for various Countries / Nationalities
I think Certain Airlines have a Visa Website they consult
can anybody recall the name of it please?
Thanks

If my memory serves me well - I recall seeing a CitiBank Dollar ATM
Can anybody confirm seeing it recently?
And can you say if Thai Bank Visa Cards can be used in it?
-
I have no need to discuss the reason why my visitor wants to get Dollars from the Dollar ATM
That is off Topic
-
All I wanted to know was if it was possible to withdraw US$ from the ATM in the Airport with a Thai Bank Visa Card
And the Thread has got diverted into a lot of unnecessary Side Issues!!! - lol
-
I did not say "the ATM was for people to show enough money when entering Thailand"
