I was reading a biography of Pol Pot (I know, a little light reading) and it said that the Cambodian word for "education" was related to the word for memorization, left over from long ago when religious education required the memorization of lots of stuff.  Is Thai similar?  That would explain a lot because the very word education would suggest memorization rather than comprehension.  

He should make them disappear like the Statue of Liberty.  

That Learn Thai with Mod page is great at explaining her expensive prices and how to pay her.  It says absolutely nothing about how she will teach us Thai or why we should pay her.  Just a money grab.

You do realize that the non-missionaries in this picture didn't develop writing, agriculture, domesticated animals, sails, medicine, like anything.  Peoples all over the world looked at the stars at night and from that developed math and science.  Not so in this picture.  Watch Mel Gibson's movie

Apokalypto for a view of the best civilization man could develop in the absence of God.  So while a particular criticism may be valid, it has to be considered in light of the available alternatives or, as Churchill said, "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."  

That first bicycle cop on the left makes me feel like a certain part of my nether regions might still remain in jeopardy.

If you click through to the original story, there are photos and they appear to be men in dresses.  This does not explain things but it does explain that parts of this story will probably remain inexplicable.
