Visa-free entry for Chinese nationals has many consequences
black tabby12345 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Population Invasion is Chinese rulers' common tactics. Sending in own people gradually, taking advantage of other countries' immigration policies. And increasing their influence in politics and administration(through the power of money). With an intention to take over other countries' sovereignty. That is why Thailand has been quite restrictive regarding the grant of their permanent residency(to all nationalities). Already in the 19th century, Thai government started to impose tax on commercial billboards written in Chinese to weaken their power. That is from the awareness of China Risk among the old time Thai bureaucrats. But modern-day Populist regime is undermining it. Perfect example of China's Population Invasion is, the Lao, Thailand's closest neighbor. In return of China's Cash Injection into the poor country, they are demanding super-long term land lease for the purpose of Chinese settlement. Pretty much like 21st century Colonization. -
Thailand Has Global Ambition to Become Tech Talent Hub by 2030

Thailand Has Global Ambition to Become Tech Talent Hub by 2030? Better make their Online 90 Day Report site workable before aiming That High. It has been here for ages, but never worked properly. When I reported it at the local immigration office, they told me that I need to lodge the complaint in Bangkok instead. Always saying more than they can really do. it is the common nature of the Populists. -

Government to Crack Down on Low-Quality Chinese Imports
black tabby12345 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Chinese imports of nasty quality. Years ago, I bought a bicycle lock at one of those B20- stores. It broke down soon after purchase on my way home. Cracking down low-quality goods from China? Fine. But they might dodge that attempt by attaching a false sticker. That says Made in Thailand. Good to know that Chinese manufactures even counterfeited Royal Mail(UK postal services) stamps that were widely circulated. Fake UK stamps blamed on Chinese-made counterfeits (bbc.com) Royal Mail urged to investigate claims of Chinese-made fake stamps | Postal service | The Guardian China accused of flooding Britain with fake Royal Mail stamps | The Independent Reminds me of fake USD and GBP printed by Nazi(in huge quantities) during WW2. -
Thinking about buying a house in Japan? It is not really difficult. Unlike many other nations, Japan does not require foreigners to have any permanent residency/citizenship. In today's Japan, millions of Unwanted Houses are in the market. They can be extremely Cheap. Or completely Free; for Give Away to someone Who Wants Them. But they come with some costs. Like many other nations, the local government charges Property Tax(based upon the market value of the house). The followings are just a few of the examples for those interested.

Trump has been known for his favor of Poo-tin for years. Therefore Poo-tin wants Trump to win the presidency of USA. Expecting the current American aid package to Ukraine will be reduced/scrapped. So that it makes a perfect sense that dictator-controlled state media portrays D.T.as Poo-tin's close ally.

"Singapore to be the safest city for tourists, with a negligible risk score of zero. Tokyo followed with a score of 10.72, then Toronto with 13.6, Sydney at 22.28, and Zurich at 22.97..." Regarding the theft risks, Sydney(and all of Australia) is a lot higher than Thailand You can never leave your bags(large or small) unattended. It can be gone in the matter of minute. Or even faster. Often, stealing other people's stuff is done as a Game among the jobless youth. How Do I Know IT? I have lived in a plural states of Australia for many years in the past. In terms of the transparency of the system, Australia is certainly the 1st world. But when it come to the level of the modern-day individual morality, it can look like the 3rd world unfortunately(throughout my experience 1980-90s. Some car drivers in big cities even reportedly toss their (still burning)cigarettes at the nearby cyclists as a sign of hate and contempt. And I should stress that I have never lived in any Rough Neighborhood during my residency period in Australia. Still, I can find out this much of the ugly sides of what you call More Advanced Nation.

Very true. Most ordinary good Thais are calm, gentle, and friendly to the strangers. Quite upsetting that some uneducated bad-mannered aliens take advantage of their non-confrontational attitude. I have been here for nearly 2 decades by now. And that is my evaluation of this kingdom and general tendency of the common people.

Is BKK listed one of the worst dangerous towns in the world? I have been in Thailand for nearly 20 years. And sometimes visit the capital of this kingdom. But have never felt that way. If the tourist does something stupid, anywhere Can Be Dangerous. As long as they exercise their common sense and sufficient security precaution just like when they are back home, able to avoid many of the needless risks. I love Thailand and that is my perception of the Bangkok. Therefore, I conclude this sensation seeking article quite laughable.

60days visa-free stay with the approval of unlimited border runs? Congratulations to the expats under 50 YO. Looks like Thai visa policy is reverting back to the state of Pre-September 2006 period. It was when headaches of the Thailand expats started; Thai immigration bureau restricted back-to-back border trip for renewing no-visa stay permit; visa-waivers were no longer allowed to stay in the kingdom over 180days out of one calendar year. In 2010s, they also started to limit the number of times expats could apply for the tourist visa at the Thai embassy/consulate in the neighboring countries. And in August 2014, just after the military takeover, the dictator declared the abolishment of 2-entry tourist visa. And started to limit the border runs by land twice a year. I have even heard that some business travelers(by air) were turned back during that period. Now Thai bureaucrats' Empty Pride(They were groundlessly convinced that today's Thailand is in the state of of middle-income nation. Therefore, no needs to rely on the expenditure by expats) is gone. And part of the good old days is coming back. The best thing for the immigration to do is, doing the least for the best result to the whole nation. One of the very few excellent policies from the populist premier.

Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed

Rwanda's foreign tourist surcharge of $1500. And it is regarded An Excellent Policy, says the WTTC boss. What a great idea. Once Thailand goes for it, it will certainly solve the issue of Overtourism immediately. As many of the potential visitors will Start to Avoid this country. Mission accomplished at the expense of the livelihood of 10 millions people(relying foreign tourism here including their families) in Thailand. Followed by the cost the govt dreads; political unrest(just like previous regime faced during Coronavirus border blockade). -

Chinese Men Attack Young Thai Waiter, Slashing His Arm
black tabby12345 replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
What a stupid article. The headline is one thing. What the texts say is another. Chinese man stabs Thai waiter for stopping sexual assault According to the title, that Chinese man sounds like a hero tried to save the would-be victim of the sexual assault case. While contents say that (those) Chinese involved are senseless thugs who attacked the waiter without any reasons. -
Thailand Grapples with Growing Number of Foreign Beggars
black tabby12345 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Begging in the streets. And the administrative attempts to stop it. Prohibition of begging in the streets. Looks like a long standing issue here. I recalled the previous regime also addressed this phenomenon. Thai Junta to Issue New Law Banning Begging (khaosodenglish.com) One interesting fact: Huge differences in the Perception of Beggers from country to country. In a place like India, it is regarded legal occupation: having a right to operate as the professional money solicitor in the public place(road and squared). Also entitled to the leftover food in the public markets; the first one to be given such stuff. Among the first world, the USA legally approves the act of begging; on the grounds of the Freedom of Speech(1st Amendment to their constitution). While it is illegal in a country like Japan. Their constitution states that people of their country Must: Get education. Work and Pay Tax. And their police force often keeps blind eyes even when the homeless seeks help from the savage attacks by the strangers in Main Stream Life. Saying you are not a tax payer(therefore unable to seek help from us). Until such incidences lead to the brutal murder case... -
300-baht fee for foreign tourists. This fee was intended to establish a tourism development fund. Bullshxt. Be honest and say it is just another institutionalized theft to enrich 0.1% of the privileged money mongers of the kingdom, at the expense of the foreigners who can't strike back in vote. Completely lacking transparency, who is dumb enough to believe the money robbed from the tourist will be the used for the better being of the workers in tourism sector? I was certainly not Born Yesterday.

A little computer bug can cause all the mess out there. The mechanical malfunction and there will be a half-mile line of the irritating people. And then, they might conclude: Manual processing will be better and safer. Their online 90-day report does not always work. I know quite a few people who experienced it(including myself).
