You forgot to mention Malaysia which is very much enticing retirees with good policies & Indonesia which is anotther option...why would the extremely rich want to come to thailand anyway with european countries so much more compatabile & less dogs and monkees roaming the streets to attack you, and traffic that is willing to stop for pedestrians, and the less likely hood of food poisoning ...Richer retirees are not going to cop this and again thailand will be the big looser... -

I can imagine people will begin to by pass banks all together and bye safes to keep their money at home due to tax & very poor bank interest rates , bye gold ingots thus completely derailling this badly thought out idea...gold prices will rise as well as the baht which will be no good for tourism or economy.. -

Give it a rest mate, any country in the world with a marked out crossing and traffic lights and at least one car stopped would preset as a safety zone The car just did not want to stop... I remember the same,sort of accident last year where the driver said " I blew my horn but they didn't jump out of the way* so he ran them down... Is this the mentality of most thai drivers? No fault of any pedestrians..

It has been policy for decades to have the central lift system as stability for the entire building...somebody changed that design and was approved by government...now they say it will take several months to access that design in which all public scrutiny will have diminished and all evidence will be cleared...and all charges dropped as families grieve their losses of loved ones and all compensation is limited and charges are dropped... -

Chinese steel is considered cheap & inferior in many countries, and the lack of even that steel in the walls & columns of the building caused it to fall like a sandcastle...but the question is " how many more are identical ? " simply for profit margins and what of buildings now under construction, and trasparency is needed to save condo investors and people's lives..there is usually an inspection before each floor of concrete poured, or was this overlooked.. -

You cannot win if the police are corrupt or conspire with a third party, mainly thai against you ..I know that from experience..the thing about don't get in that situation is unavoidable in many instances, and yes legally you are compromised if you are a foreigner..
