Thai Tax Strategy Revamp: VAT Hike, Income Tax Cuts Proposed
KimchiCurry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
10-12% would be ideal but having 15% is fair. I can consider paying that instead of 25-30%. I can see myself living long term there with that taxation. -
Thai Tax Strategy Revamp: VAT Hike, Income Tax Cuts Proposed
KimchiCurry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
15% flat tax is pretty good for personal income. Increasing VAT will damage the low class though. Why not increase VAT depending on the products (electronics, foods, etc...). The increase of VAT from 7% to 10% must bring a <deleted> ton of money to be able to balance the decrease of corporate and personal income tax. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
KimchiCurry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Go to the Elite Visa group on Facebook. Somebody just asked the question few days ago. Go there and read the pop up windows. https://ltr.boi.go.th/ It seems you can switch from any visas to LTR Visa BUT you cannot switch LTR to another type of visa. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
KimchiCurry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You can switch from Elite to LTR without issue. I saw some post where people did that. Anyway, you can just take the DTV for cheap. But it's true, for people with money, elite is hassle free. Just pay and be done with the paperworks. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
KimchiCurry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He is 35. He is been living in Singapore since he left uni. (26-27) He regrets not applying when he was 28 29. Didn't think he would stay long term. All of his "white" colleagues who are there for 5 years +. All getting rejected, but some malay + Chinese malay got accepted at his company after only 2-3 years. Damn. So marrying a local is the only way for "ang moh". -

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
KimchiCurry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know someone living there for 8 years, got rejected 2 times for PR. He is retrying again. If he get rejected, he is planning to move to another country. Actually many left because of that. He told me Ethnicity quota is harsh. Unfortunately, he is European. He feels enraged when he sees chinese mainland or malay chinese or indo chinese get PR just after 2 years... But I understand Singapore, such a small island, they must limit immigration. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?

High Skilled professional category only give you a flat tax of 17% if I read it correctly too ? 100%. Unless you have 20M+, it's quite risky to invest 500k in Thailand. Gamble can pay off if it can save 500k on taxation though. Anyway, If I had that kind of money, I would just invest big money in Singapore and get my PR there. Way more stable and safe. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?

Thailand being Thailand. There is no logic behind their actions. Tomorrow, there could have another coup. They could remove the LTR, DTV, Elite visa. Who knows. Even Top firm doesn't know s*it. LTR being the best visa for the time being. Things are never set in stone in Thailand. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?
KimchiCurry replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand being Thailand. There is no logic in what they do. No one has any idea what they would do. Not you, not me, not them. Who thought that they would introduce the DTV ? exemption scheme from 30 to 60 days ? More countries exempt ? Anyone in their right mind would get the DTV right now. They could clamp it down as it's way too easy to get it. But who knows, thailand being thailand. There is no logic. -

Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?

Thai Elite took a huge loss with the new DTV and the new prices of the Elite. Only a matter a time for them to go bankrupt unless they do something (add the tax exemption to revive the program). Big Money will go for the LTR visa which is a great visa (no 90 days report, tax exemption) TAT being TAT, only the future will tell. -
Thai tax riddle: Elite Visa holders off the hook?

Sales must have took a huge dive. Got one friend telling me that staff member told him "unofficially" that TAT/Privilege company are in discussion with gov. to get the tax exemption. -
They did announce an implementation of a THB 300 tourism fee for international tourist arriving by air. Scraped ? They did announce a route the TOUR DE FRANCE (cyclism), where is it ? They also announce Formula 1 in Bangkok ? no more ? No one actually knows what the hell they do. Between announcement, implementation and enforcement.

100%. You have really good agent out there making sure your application is legit (+can help you if some issues arise) and my buddy told me it cost the same.
-
Hopefully, it was during the application. He didn't pay the entire fee. Great that they gonna refund him the 50k THB fee. It's a blessing in a disguise. He can just apply for the DTV, it's way way way cheaper for a 5 year visa. Only thing he has to do is to get out of the country every 6 month. My friend just asked his agent. He got accepted because his overstay was less than 7 days. Any overstay above 7 days is detrimental to your application. They submit application all the time with 1-2 days overstay without issues.
-
17% is fair. Above 25% start being outrageous. They have so many ways to make Thailand attractive with tax alone. Somehow, they make things super complicated.
-
10% ? Where do I sign ? I sign right now any day !! Take my money lol.
-
They should do a 15-17% Flat tax rate for non citizen tax resident. I would be more than happy to pay that as a business owner (no retiree)
-
It was during the application or did he get denied at the airport after he paid the 900k THB fee ? Did he get refund ? My friend told me that you are allowed to have one overstay as stated in the application form. He had one overstay in 2022 , his application was approved. He just received his Elite Visa 20 years (5 year sticker) at the airport yesterday. He paid the previous price at 1M. Thailand and their ever changing rules. it's crazy.
