  1. OK, let's see if I can figure this so called 6-month tourist visa

    If you decided to select:

One entry, you will get 3-month tourist visa:

You have 3 months to use the visa to enter Thailand. Once you have arrived to TL, you will be given 60 days to stay. After 60 days, you must go to immigration office to get extension of 30 days.

Two entries, you will get 6-month tourist visa, double the fee.

This one looks like once you leave TL (after a total of 60-90 days), you can re-enter and repeat the above process?

If anyone who has used the 6-m tourist visa, please let us know.

  2. Hi Santam

Did you need to prove that your 800k came from oversea?

I have worked in Thailand for 12 years (work permit) and therefore I have over 800K in my local bank account to meet the retirement requirement. It would be silly if I have to send my money oversea and then send it back paying fees unnecessary.

No, I did not have to prove that the money came from overseas. In fact they didn't seem terribly curious about the funds, but as I suggested, the letter from the bank, (HSBC) was very explicit, so maybe that is what clinched it.

    Samtam,

Thanks for your information. However, to be clear, did the bank state that your money came from oversea? Sunbelt personnel in Bangkok office told me I need to transfer 800,000 Baht from oversea to the local bank account for three months to meet the requirement for first time retirement visa application?

    Teatea

No, (as I said above), the bank did not state where the funds came from.

    Thanks Samtam

I have just (4 April) applied for my first retirement visa based on funds on a three month fixed deposit in a joint account. I was applying with my partner, and he also got the visa on the same funds basis. The funds total was over THB1.6m, in two deposits each of THB800k, both in joint names. The letter from the bank (one for each of us in our own names) stated that we had over THB1.6m in total. There was absolutely no problem. Our application was processed at Suan Plu. I was slightly nervous about the joint account situation, but my fears were unfounded. Maybe Chiang Mai Immigration applies different rules, or maybe the bank letter you used needs to be more "creative", showing that you are the owner of at least THB800k.
  5. Hello,

I would like very much to get Patrick's contact number. I have pets that need to be taken care off when I travel.

    Thanks

    I'd also like to add...

We ran into a problem that most do. When we got to Thailand (usually late in the evening) we had to stay in a hotel for a few weeks while looking for somewhere to live. A great American guy named Patrick Bundock runs a kennel-less kennel at his home right outside of Bangkok. Rates are reasonable and he met us at the airport to pick up our dog when we got here. Nice guy and he is a dog trainer as well. He works with Soi Dog Rescue too. I use him often, as I go out of town once every one or two months. If you'd like his contact info, please PM me. Also, if you go to Chiang Mai, I've got a person up there who offer the same service. Again, if you want the phone numbers...PM me and I'll let you know.

  6. So sorry about Luna...It is difficult to determine who is resposible for her death. I think it's depending on your arrangement with the pet hotel. I don't think they are competence. They should have a vet on premises. For me, I know now where I will not take my dogs to so thanks for the information. My first dog was killed by my neighbor's dog, and my husband almost shoot the neighbor's dog. I cried for a couple weeks.

  7. I have been told by the Land department of Thailand that I need a Certificate of Residence to transfer the condo tittle to my name. I have lived in Thailand for more than 10 years using work permit visa and I have the yellow book that registered my address in TL.

Any idea would be appreciated for "why" and "how" to meet this requirement? Thanks.

    :o

I don't know the 'why' but I think Immigration can issue such a paper (free from my local Immigration)

    Thanks Krub

  9. Thai Airway charged me 500Baht last week when I purchased my round ticket to Vietnam (for Vietnam airport tax only). I paid 500 Baht when I left for VN last week at "Suwanbumi" airport. They told me next year they will include Thailand airport tax to all tickets to Thailand.
