  1. The issue is not the money. I have enough money to cover the 400k baht. The real issue is figuring out the complicated convoluted information I'm getting from multiple sources on how to proceed with this. My wife spoke to the local immigration office. They told her that I could go to the office when I arrive and show them my residence registration and they would give me documents to bring to the bank to open an account. That counters information I ever received on this website that states that I cannot open up a bank account doing it that way. So either the immigration officer at her local office is lying or people here are giving me the wrong information. My wife also asked the bank if I can use that document that the immigration office gives her to open an account and they said yes. So now my choice is to either left my wife hold on to the money I already sent her because the local office said it is fine if the money goes from her account into My Thai bank account because we can show that the money originally came from the United states. I guess this is the risk you take getting advice from strangers online.
  2. Would you recommend I still buy a pass-through flight even if I apply for the visa from the United states?
  3. This seems redundant and makes no sense to me. How can you apply for the non-o in Thailand if you need to have a bank account in your name but you can't have a bank account in your name unless you have the non o? Who are these agents you are referring to? How do you find them? How much do they cost? Was it 4,000 baht? How is this agent able to open up an account for you?
  4. I thought I would be applying for the non-o at the local immigration office.
  5. Since I was hasty in trying to get my money over there and make it easier to transfer into the account I open in my name I'm going to have to go to the local immigration office when I arrive there. I don't feel like wasting more fees having the money sent back to the United States and then back to thailand. Let's see if I understand the process. At the local immigration office I apply for the nano visa. It is a 90-day temporary visa. I then take that to a clinical Bank to show them that I have the non-o Visa and I can then open a bank account and deposit the 400,000 baht. Is that correct? Then after the money has been in the bank account for 2 months just prior to the 3-month period ending I then apply for a one-year extension.
  6. I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm trying to navigate all this with a traumatic brain injury. It is very confusing when I get conflicting information from everybody here and conflicting information from online sources. I was of the understanding that immigration at the airport would look and see if I have a round trip ticket or not whether they approve my entry tourist visa.
  7. I'm not currently in thailand. I'm currently in the united states. I was attempting to do the e visa. I made the mistake of sending the money over to my wife first because I would rather have it over there and make it easier for me to transfer into the account that I open in my name rather than trying to call my bank and do stuff over the phone. A $40 hopped Cambodia does nothing for me when I am in the United states. I have to buy a round trip ticket now because immigration will not let me enter Thailand on a one-way ticket if I am coming with the travel exempt Visa instead of the non-ovisa. If I had been able to get the non-o visa through the e Visa then I would only buy a one-way ticket. I was hoping to do that to save money but because I screwed up I will have to buy a round trip ticket now.
  8. If her bank gives her a hard time about transferring that money back to me then I'll just have to unfortunately buy a round trip ticket and go over there and do the process from there. The main reason why I was trying to do the e Visa is so I could get away with only buying a one-way ticket to save money.
  9. I will be registering at the Khon Kaen office. I have another question for you. I was just looking at things you need to e-file. One of them says a bank statement with funds. Does that mean it wants to see in my American account that I have the 400,000 baht? I already sent that money over to my wife's account so it is there and easier to transfer into my account that I open when I arrive. Do I need to transfer that money back to my account here in the United States for the e-file? Thank you for your help answering my questions.
  10. How soon before I plan to fly to Thailand should I apply for the e-visa? Is two weeks ahead enough time?
  11. What is the TM30? Would a lease in my wife's name suffice?
  12. Can I go to a bank when I arrive and show them the non o visa to open the account? When I was there in September we stopped at a bank and asked questions and the person checked my passport for the visa stamp. When they didn't see it they said I couldn't open an account. I was the on travel visit from USA at the time.
  13. Thank you. I don't want to buy a plane ticket ahead of time and then deal with money being wasted on a ticket is the e visa is denied for some reason.
