Hi, I've been in Thailand for less than a year and recently accepted a role in a large Thai company. They’ve gotten the necessary documents approved by BOI, and I’ve applied for my non-B visa from the Thai embassy in Sydney (online).
Without going into too much detail, the overall communication has been quite static and dull throughout the entire process, from the interview to the e-visa application. They still haven’t disclosed my employment contract, despite my asking twice already. A friend who has been working in Thailand for several years mentioned that companies of this size typically cover the flight back to Thailand, visa fees, and also the full round-trip cost for the work-permit border trip. Apparently, I shouldn’t even need to ask about these reimbursements.
I sense that either they are extremely occupied with EoY workload or perhaps a bit annoyed with the list of questions I've been asking about the visa and employment terms.
Is it considered rude in Thai culture to assert clarity by asking about sensitive matters like reimbursement for work-related expenses, timelines for various processes, or my employment conditions and entitlements?
If so, I’d appreciate some advice on how to address my queries in a more diplomatic manner. Cheers!
