  1. By all means do the 90-days reporting by mail. Easy, uncomplicated and no loss of time.

They send it back to your home address, which is why you must include a self addressed and stamped (10THB !) envelope.

Send in the whole set by registered mail, just in case.

I had to do it by Nov. 17, and sent it by registered mail to the Chaeng Wattana Office. It's back already.

Finally made it to Goverment Complex today to do the 90 day check-in. I was 21 days late, explained to the officer that my house had alot of water and was told that they understood and were not going to charge me the late fine. All ended well.

  2. thais reaping of they own people in their hr of need.soon they will try to do the same too the tourist in high season

"tourists in high season"??? Maybe you haven't been reading the papers, but tourist numbers are falling faster than a rock from a skyscraper. I live in Chiang Mai and can go into town right now and count the number of tourists and not use all my fingers. However, what IS interesting is that close to 3 of every 5 cars I see on the roads here in CM now have BKK license plates on them.

My cousin in law is the manger of one of the biggest hand made umbrella and parasol shops shops in CM. They normally get about 2-3 tour buses of foreign tourists a week during high season. She told my wife last night on the phone they have had ONE in the past 2 weeks.

Another friend works at a large tourist agency. She said she the number of tours from Asian countries that have been cancelled is horrendous.

Tourists? Don't think you're gonna see to many of them this year.

When one group shuts dodwn the airports, another group puts the city on fire, the jetski-tuktuk scams at the beaches, the shoplifting scam at the airport, the tourist are now saying "We should have been coming to Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia or Cambodia along time ago. Why bother with Thailand"

  3. a uniquely caring Thai society....very funny ..nobody gives a dam_n here about anybody else unless it's family or friends.

I think anyone who has been here for a little while has a story regarding what families are capable of doing to each other so i think you can also scrub that one from your list.

They say "it's all about family" what they mean is "It's all about what I can take from my family"

  4. What part of FL. you from? I'm leaving South Beach for Surin.

  5. I'm not making this up, every vending machine in the state of florida must have, by law, a sticker that says in part:

"... if this label is missing please call 1-800-...-...."

  6. Only place we could find for our 12 year old is ST. John Mary International school in Saraburi. 200K baht a year includes room and board. American curriculum and the English teachers actually speak English and not some pig-latin english they learned in the PI.

  7. Jim Kellie at Nong Khai Direct has a couple in stock ,he is a dealer for Barbeques Galore and a good looking all stainless model built in thailand. ph 042467757

  8. Personally speaking, if your wife is in Surin .... I'd ask her first ....... don't take 'not have' as the definitive answer :o

Tried to send one from Miami as check in luggage but it was too big. Big Bummer. She told me today she had dreams about her BBQ grill.

  9. If anyone knows Mr. Lee, a good sized American from the midwest in his early 60's living in Surin, please tell him that Randy in Miami said to stop by the house and check out me a Fern's little guy.

The whole family, including Mom, are in Miami now but going back this Friday. They should all be home by next week. Also please tell him I turned in my resignation yesterday and will be in Ban Bak Dok full time around the 1st of Oct.

    Thanks for the help

  10. Wondering about schools in Surin. My kid (Thai) is moving back to Prasat after 4 yrs. of school in South Beach. He is fluent in english and sapeaks with no accent. He also picked up spanish while in Miami. He is also very computer literate. Looking for a school that might keep him challenged.

    Thanks

  11. Might be help, has alot of phone numbers in how to order section.

Price depends on the system you buy, check with some companies.

You need: movable dish 7 to 8 ft, receiver.

I have a F1 reciever with card slot, 7.5 meter movable dish, C and Ku band LNb. I paid around

23,000 baht for it. There are no furhter costs. With this system you can receive around 30 satelites, the one you want to watch most will be agila ku, this one has all the movie and sport channels similar to ubc bit far more movie channels than ubc.

Fascinating - was just about to go for UBC. Not interested in sports channels, but news, discovery, movies... can you give me a website to look at (F1 is a bit broad :o :-) ) Do you think this will suit me ?

    Phibun Mike,

I just had a look at the box in which I received my Dynasat receiver and it had F1 receiver written on the cover
