Eight to nine hours is a fair time, depending on traffic and how fast you like to travel. Done the trip many times on different roads, and personally for a quick trip I head straight to Saraburi from Korat, then head north east joining the main highway at Inburi. Nakon Sawan, Kamphaeng Phet,Tak, Toen, Lampang and onto Chiangmai. I did the trip from Chiangmai to Phitsanulok the other week and would suggest you stay off highway #11 on account of the road works between Denchai and Phitsanulok. Normally a great scenic route, and will be again in a few months when they complete the new highway.

I returned to Chiangmai throught Nakon Sawan, and found the main highway quite reasonable bar the usual minor roadworks....Enjoy your trip

Line contention on Indy package is well documented elsewhere, in comparison to the Premier package there is considerably less international bandwidth available to you, and that what is avaiable to you has restrictions. That is a fact, you can argue all you like. As was just posted by Baz just a little up the page the restrictions on Indy are easily available on the maxnet website.

You say "It depends on your location" i presume you mean within Thailand? Well i got more bad news for you. There are no issues with bandwith limitations within Thailand. Current network usage within thailand by internet traffic runs at about 20% of capacity. This is why ISP's like TOT Maxnet are using banner headlines like "free 4mb" upgrade. It doesnt mean you are getting any extra international bandwidth, it just means they are giving you more speed across the unused 80% capacity they have available WITHIN THAILAND. A nice sales gimmick which brings in customers which actually costs them nothing and gives the customer the impression.

As for dns issues, there is no issue. DNS servers play no part in bandwith test results.

There is a DNS server access problem in the Korat area and a temporary fix has been put in place by Maxnet.

So you want me to pay more for a slower service considering in my loacal area they have overloaded the Premier service.

I love to use torrents to show what our average speeds are. So a site I use I set up a 8GB file And everyone started downloading at approx the same time. We ensured that the file could not be shared between ourselves and what was the result I peaked at 350K bytes and dowmloaded in 7 hours. Premier finished after 11 hours. We all live within 750 Meteres of each other.

Case closed as far as I am concerned.

This is absolute nonsence. TT&T stopped buying international bandwidth from CAT nearly 2 years ago. TT&T have their own international gateway and have no major fibre running anywhere near CAT's international gateway now.

It depends on your location how come on 4MB indy at the moment I am getting international speed and actual downloads faster than using Premier for more money whats the point.

For most people ipconfig /all will only show their router as their DNS server, so that really doesn't mean anything.

Also while DNS problems can cause web pages to load slow or not at all, it won't affect speed tests as your traffic doesn't go though the DNS server.

Maxnet as a whole is not Blocking Open DNS as mine works. However it is possible it is being blocked by your local office.

Where do you live maybe it is a local problem In Chang Mai Korat Etc. Ipconfig /all if you have all your default settings would tell you your DNS server.

However this is not normal. Now it refers to your Gateway address.

Same time, the Indy service was whilst I was at a restaurant 100m from my house off the same DSL extender as my house off Premier, which I had remote access to and ran the test on the Premier Service.

Opendns works on my premier service but not the Indy service.

Just dropped in my letter box was the attached too, looks good speed, but wonder about the international bandwidth at the price.

Please tell me the The dns servers you are using for Maxnet Premier Service. If you are using open dns just remove there setting and tell us the IP address of the primary and secondary Maxnet DNS servers.

It would help a lot of people out.

Maybe it is just a local problem in the Noth east area I doubt it if you check the OPENDNS site.

You tell me your results from your tests are at the same time yes I agree close but your only proper test is to upload and download over a longer time as I said a snap shot. If ten people have Indy and twenty have premier who do you think wins.

It is all relative.Very happy at moment now downloading at 300k and uploading at 650 and that Indy on a torrent fantastic service. Dont you think.

TTT DNS servers are down in my region. They have now come out with a partial fix. If I try open DNS or anything else no commands are recognised. I have also tried the australian services all work for a short time as theyare in your cache. If you change to open DNS you get no service.

If you check using network diagnostics it tells you the DNS servers can not be reached.

If you change to open DNS network check reports everything ok but you can not connect.

I have it being looked into by OPENDNS.

If they have a solution I will report back.

Maxnet DNS servers are down 2 weeks thats what I was told for them to be back up and working.

If you check using ipconfig /all you will find there is no DNS server. That has been down for at least 2 days.

Just goes on and on with Maxnet.

After the complete shut down of telephone and internet the big excuse now is the cable Fibre between Bangkok and Korat.

However after throwing away the Bipac router they gave me not quite true I still have.

After numerouse phone calls with staff who say thay can talk English and do not Know what a Dslam is after 10 minutes they all understand what it is. Why do they Lie so much customer service Stinks.

However after a lot of discussions they promise an Engineer will be with me the following day. OK acceted.

Next day comes no engineere al they had done was redused my download speed to 2MB.

I phone them and say why have you done that thats because you are to far away the engineer has told me.

Ok why has my service been good for 4 months at 3 mb and 2 months at 4MB did I put my house on the back of a truck and move it.

Now can not speak english agin telephone line goes dead. Phone back after not understanding English again after putting in some not nice Thai language I get the boss.

Now my problem generally is only when it rains.

He says he can speak english so I spell out my problem.

Now phone up and put onto 4 mb it will not work Engineer. Crap I say Ok he does I re configure router to D.GMT and low and behold signal to noise raito at 4M is 11 and Attenuation is is back down to 45 Perfect I say but its not the connection normaly its when it rains everything goes. OK he now says he understands My Thai wife is saying some realy bad things to this engineer so I have to tel her to stop.

Then I put on there suplied Bipac Router well he cant belive it. As I said crap.

So they agree to go and check some cables. Now 2 weeks gone no difference still the same as soon as it rains you loose the connection.

So now I have voice recordings and photos to take to there main office and will se what that does.

Bit of a long one this but need to get of chest.

I paid 18000 baht for a cable to be installed so I could have internet access. I have proof that they are using the cable for other subscribers and the connections are twisted and wraped in insulation tape. The insulation tape has now come undone. What do they expect.

Does make me laugh because everytime you phone they try to make out its your problem.

Considering they installed the phone lines which I payed for dont ask how much you will laugh. My problem can only get Maxnet round here.

Anyway TOT no better from what I have read Thailand has not got use to do it properly the first time then its cheaper in the long time. Mind you most of the Western world is the same.

I am sure not long ago I was having problems with my internet connection. One of the threads recomended a free programe that monitors Various reports from your router. I used this for getting TT&T to sort out my internet connection.

Just recently I have had my cumpter power supply and motherboard go. Now I have lost this little progamme which is fantastic.

It monitors Signal to noise ratio Attenuation and connection speed.

It now is important again as everytime it raind I lose my internet conection. You can tell 5 minutes befor you get rain at my house because the connection dies.

I need this software again to prove to them what keeps happening.

P.S. If you look at the cables 400 M away it is quite aparent what it is.

Bad cable connections. The further you go towards the DSLAM the worse the connections get.

I agree about 400 to 500 baht a month. For your setup I would sugset looking at Tom's hardware which if you look at the reviews will tell you aproximately how many watts each part is consuming they also have some good power supply calculators. Dont forget all the the other bits and pieces transformers etc. APC ups are very efficent but use a lot of power as well. Dont forget your router and its power supply. Some of the later graphics cards which are overclocked run at almost the same wattage at standby, and full speed. Then you are getting into big BAHT. To cut your costs turn of anything you are not using.

I am sure on one of the posts in the Pataya forum someone gave a link to a piece of free software that would monitor your routers connection speed Signal to Noise Ratio and attenuation. If any one has this link could you please PM me.

I will NEVER get on one.

The recent crash of an A330 with 280 folks dead. Just think when the A380 falls out of the sky the number will be 800! And it is not if it will it is only when.

Airplanes crash Boeing and Airbus alike. It is not something I wish for.

Ok why death trap? 33 injured in Airbus A380 evacuation drill and the title of the story I read. One with a broken leg and one died. But the story was edited and now states 32 injured one accidentally broke a leg. What? Accidentally broke a leg as if one would do that on purpose. The one that died was removed from all stories about the test because the autopsy states the person died of a heart attack and not as a results of the safety drill. So I guess the person had a heart attack on purpose

Airbus has always been in a jam from the start they are behind in manufacturing and thus delivery.

Now about Thai Airlines. My story: I flew from BKK to LAX after 45 min or so into the flight I remembered my sisters birthday and decided to buy some perfume, the staff was helpful in my selection, as I know zip about the stuff that ladies like. Then 45 min before landing I wanted some booze for myelf and I was told that the price was now in US$ and I could not pay in Thai B, I asked why and then was told that since we were no where near to Thailand I had to pay in Dollars not Bhat. I got a bit upset and gave the perfume back and ask for a refund when the stewardess returned and tried to give my 1500 Bhat back I said NOway I want US$ since we are nowhere near Thailand I want US$ at the same rate your crappy airline gave me.

I am now on a watch list, for any flight with Thai international.

So I fly Emerates or Korea Air where I am treated like a customer and not a criminal. Now days airlines do not care about the customer and airline staff are more important than passengers. The only time Thai Airlines is polite is before you buy a ticket after they get your money they could care less!

PS I got my money back plus US$25 but it took 1 year and 9 months for Thai Airlines to pay up.
