  1. People tend to ignore water with little respect until you watch your house float away The Thais ability to control Thailand's wet season of excessive water and still supply water to the fields four months into the dry season through reservoirs and interconnecting canals is nothing short of engineering genius just watch this video of a 75 + year old controlled canal meandering along a road through foothills, over ravines and under rivers, spanning from the Yom River Weir to well past city of Phrae almost 40 kilometers away. Maybe a boring video to some, but filmed in 4k and to those that wonder how do they do that, is an interesting twisting journey. https://youtu.be/c5BtoeZ3coY
  2. you didn't mention Canadian living in northern Thailand, Whew i think I'm ok
  3. Many Youtubers bring there drones into Thailand and yes without being registered, that illegal, get caught loose your drone and large fine. I purchased my drone in Big Camera went through extensive paperwork and received a Thai license to fly the drone, even in Parks when license is shown, I was in Sukhothai at the ruins numerous signs saying no drones allowed, one trip to the main office and they photocopied my license and charged me 500 baht lol, and i was allowed to film the ruins in 4K you can watch it here https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  4. lets hope this insane conflict is put to bed soon because the farmers have invested a lot of money in these drones and to revert to old methods will be costly, but I tend to agree about the police ignoring them, simply because they know what the farming drone is doing and they are Thais, me on the hand will keep my mini4 on the shelf and ignore those beady eyes looking at me saying let go flying
  5. I am one of them, fully licensed, actually was a licensed pilot, have flown in national parks including Sukhothai ruins with permission and yes my drone videos are in 4k and some are indeed epic here is one https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  6. sorry that is not correct, I purchased my drone in Big Camera went through extensive paperwork and received a Thai license to fly the drone, even in Parks when license is shown, I was in Sukhothai and the ruins numerous sign saying no drones allowed, one trip to the main office and the photocopied my license and charged me 500 baht lol, and i was allowed to film the ruins in 4K you can watch it here https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  7. They say the biggest price differences foreigners pay over Thais is in Pattaya, I wonder what kind of discount the freelancers give locals🤔
  8. 90 percent of foreigners are ultra rich compared to 90 percent of Thais, unfortunately I am in the other ten percent but still more wealthy than most in my village
  9. I whole heartly agree, I keep three cards in good standing from Canada only problem i have had, is over zealous security and have had two instances when i first came citing suspicious activity, and they cancelled card sending new one to my mailing address in Canada. But now no problem.
  10. I don't Know did I start this thread, I posted on facebook that I found a Pizza company in Phrae and said it was every bit as good as most pizza in Canada, the flack from Canada was intense. Like some else said here I been here awhile and am not going back, i don't like the pizzas you generally find here and yes pineapple is simply wrong, and as far as putting sauce on it, i have two friends in Canada that smother their pizza with franks hot sauce, so personal preference. i like the thicker crust and stiffer bottom, i mean who doesn't like a stiffer bottom
  11. looks like that Ford Ranger isn't going to get any cheaper
  12. I think that everyone is missing a big point, although i have only read 4 pages , but. They are young, you think he was mortgage free, i highly doubt it so keeping the house was not an option. they can give it a try, they can home school the kids, they can learn Thai culture, the kids are more resilient then the parents, they will adapt, they both can work, 80 thousand baht to support 4 no problem, I live on a lot less and support 4 albeit only one foreigner. if in a few years its not working then go back, they are still in their forties, A lot harder if you pull stakes at 50 + oh and health insurance is also a lot cheaper mid thirties. The only thing I would question I Hua Hinn maybe for a year to climatize but there are far more reasonable places in Thailand to rent a house and food for that matter, I would be going north, my two cents worth.
  13. So I am married with a marriage visa on monthly requirements no less. I did it in Phrae, you say you are in Nikon, my advice is to stay in your Amphoe this is a process and the lay out that Licorice above a laid out for you is as complete a set of instructions your are going to get. That said you need to strapped on a extra pair of patience and get ready to go to these places over and over again, i had to make 9 trips to immigration and two two day trips to Chiang Mai, but i was getting the visa as well, so your adventure should be less daunting Nit Noy. I you feel up to watching my adventure here is the link https://youtu.be/XXf1P-OzR5c
