  1. Thai's start drinking at noon or when they stop for lunch some will continue to drink through the afternoon, when they finish work they drink more then they drive drunk and pass on outside of curve, then they crash through a cement fence and the only thing to stop them is a 29 year old mother and her 4 year old son! they didn't make it, but don't worry the insurance on the company truck paid off the family, and the Thai got to drink another day!!!!! This is why there is a alcohol ban between 2 a 5pm Its not a perfect solution but what is?
  2. This has been going on for hundred of years under our very noses, luckily with social media and world awareness justice is finally being dealt not only for this child but in memory of all that suffered before her
  3. to answer your specific question. I am a Canadian I have access to my Government account I pulled up the two pages that indicate the amount of each pension and printed them off. I have a RRIF pension and had the company send a print out of the payment then I went one step farther and had the Embassy certify it, although not really required. My Brit friend said it was also quite easy to get same info
  4. As a now retired Cabinet Maker who's original career was to fly As a retired Cabinet maker whose original career to fly, was not to be, the pay-to-fly scheme has been around since the beginning and in every country. I spent total of 50,000 CAD over 10 years back in the 80ties hate to think what that would be in todays dollars, was licensed commercial multi IFR and floatplane, but with minimum flight time to match, Insurance companies refused employment. Of course back in the 80ties there was no shortage of pilots like there is now, so get used to student pilots in the right seat.
  5. When I ride my ADV50 on the highway, I do not ride on the motorcycle lane, I take my lane and watch like a hawk when they pass, but more times then not if i pass they speed up even is a Sonic lol. They just don't like being past by a scooter, even a big one
  6. The Immigration Bureau (IB) has cancelled nearly 10,000 temporary stay permits for foreign nationals due to non-compliance with visa regulations, according to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). The decision forms part of efforts to crack down on the misuse of student visas by those seeking illegal employment in Thailand. This was the topic, but it manage to morph into retirement visa's through Agents. First I will say I have a legitimate marriage license on monthly income, but before that i had no choice but use an agent and go through the back door. I couldn't even open a bank account even with the 800. I know many that can pay the 800 but do the same thing because of the restrictions involved, not to mention the loss revenue in interest, invested properly and the agents costs can be covered. but the point here is complain all you want the back door will never close, i remember my agent telling me that he only received 5,000 baht out of 38,000 first time visa. that money gets dived up, down the line. multiplied by how many visas per year, illegal or not, this is big business and it's never going away.
  7. As a fan of the Alien franchise I was surprised to hear on my trip to Krabi last November while on a day trip with Five Star Marine, the Captain took us to a Lagoon and informed me that a film crew did a shoot at that location and explained that it was an Alien production. Not knowing about Alien Earth at the time I found it quite revealing. Here is the video that include the location of the shoot, you would never know they were there, the place was left in pristine condition. https://youtu.be/Wx1OxLgvOcY
  8. you didn't mention Canadian living in northern Thailand, Whew i think I'm ok
  9. Many Youtubers bring there drones into Thailand and yes without being registered, that illegal, get caught loose your drone and large fine. I purchased my drone in Big Camera went through extensive paperwork and received a Thai license to fly the drone, even in Parks when license is shown, I was in Sukhothai at the ruins numerous signs saying no drones allowed, one trip to the main office and they photocopied my license and charged me 500 baht lol, and i was allowed to film the ruins in 4K you can watch it here https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  10. lets hope this insane conflict is put to bed soon because the farmers have invested a lot of money in these drones and to revert to old methods will be costly, but I tend to agree about the police ignoring them, simply because they know what the farming drone is doing and they are Thais, me on the hand will keep my mini4 on the shelf and ignore those beady eyes looking at me saying let go flying
  11. I am one of them, fully licensed, actually was a licensed pilot, have flown in national parks including Sukhothai ruins with permission and yes my drone videos are in 4k and some are indeed epic here is one https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  12. sorry that is not correct, I purchased my drone in Big Camera went through extensive paperwork and received a Thai license to fly the drone, even in Parks when license is shown, I was in Sukhothai and the ruins numerous sign saying no drones allowed, one trip to the main office and the photocopied my license and charged me 500 baht lol, and i was allowed to film the ruins in 4K you can watch it here https://youtu.be/U53N_ZvbHJ0
  13. I whole heartly agree, I keep three cards in good standing from Canada only problem i have had, is over zealous security and have had two instances when i first came citing suspicious activity, and they cancelled card sending new one to my mailing address in Canada. But now no problem.
  14. I don't Know did I start this thread, I posted on facebook that I found a Pizza company in Phrae and said it was every bit as good as most pizza in Canada, the flack from Canada was intense. Like some else said here I been here awhile and am not going back, i don't like the pizzas you generally find here and yes pineapple is simply wrong, and as far as putting sauce on it, i have two friends in Canada that smother their pizza with franks hot sauce, so personal preference. i like the thicker crust and stiffer bottom, i mean who doesn't like a stiffer bottom
  15. looks like that Ford Ranger isn't going to get any cheaper
  16. I think that everyone is missing a big point, although i have only read 4 pages , but. They are young, you think he was mortgage free, i highly doubt it so keeping the house was not an option. they can give it a try, they can home school the kids, they can learn Thai culture, the kids are more resilient then the parents, they will adapt, they both can work, 80 thousand baht to support 4 no problem, I live on a lot less and support 4 albeit only one foreigner. if in a few years its not working then go back, they are still in their forties, A lot harder if you pull stakes at 50 + oh and health insurance is also a lot cheaper mid thirties. The only thing I would question I Hua Hinn maybe for a year to climatize but there are far more reasonable places in Thailand to rent a house and food for that matter, I would be going north, my two cents worth.
  17. So I am married with a marriage visa on monthly requirements no less. I did it in Phrae, you say you are in Nikon, my advice is to stay in your Amphoe this is a process and the lay out that Licorice above a laid out for you is as complete a set of instructions your are going to get. That said you need to strapped on a extra pair of patience and get ready to go to these places over and over again, i had to make 9 trips to immigration and two two day trips to Chiang Mai, but i was getting the visa as well, so your adventure should be less daunting Nit Noy. I you feel up to watching my adventure here is the link https://youtu.be/XXf1P-OzR5c
  18.
