About Me

I'm Erich Sysak, an expat for more than 20 years. I enjoy writing stories of expat life in Thailand through novels and short stories.  I’ve captured the highs, lows, and hidden secrets of expat adventures in books like Stage IV, Water Heart, The Siamese Collectors, and The Deserted Country (check them out on my Amazon author page). My stories dive into the cultural clashes, rogue characters, and mysteries that define life as a foreigner in the Land of Smiles—think academic expats, beachside intrigue, and the occasional dark twist.

On my Substack, I share reflections on the evolving expat experience, from navigating Thailand’s digital era to surviving cultural quirks. Here on ASEAN NOW, I’m excited to connect with fellow expats, travelers, and Thailand enthusiasts. Whether you’re a retiree in Chiang Mai, a digital nomad in Bangkok, or just dreaming of Thai beaches, let’s swap stories, tips, and maybe a few plot ideas! I’m active in threads about expat life, Thai culture, and travel, so drop me a message or check out my posts for a dose of fiction-inspired insights.

Interests: Writing, Thai culture, expat challenges, mystery novels, coastal Thailand, and sharing survival tips for foreigners.
