And what's wrong with that? I live with less than 20K/month even if I could spend more. You forget that some people have a house already paid, no bargirls fees coz happily married and good time-food-drink at home. So why spend money outside when you feel happy at home.

I remember years back some farang (was he French??) was caught in Koh Tao breaking into bungalows and when they went into his room he had something like 30 cameras and several hundred thousand baht in cash (foreign and Thai notes) all hidden under his mattress.

I wonder what could attract Family tourist in the shithole that is Pattaya, no clean air nor clean beach and water, too much noise, no scenery.

The 2 days I've spent there were the worst of my 17 years in Thailand.

Funny to read all the people (among them a lot of yanks) complain about the pollution in this country when knowing that USA is producing 25% of the carbon dioxide emissions while beeing only 4-5 % of the world population. Pathetic.

As an eye witness from here has said, it happened at nearly midnight....what were the kids doing riding around at that time of night on a vehicle that they did not have a licence to operate.....It doesnt excuse the driver who was drunk...but the question has to be asked....

My point though was that, when we read these things here on TV...everyone starts blaming this one or that one....the culpability in this case is shared...both parties were on the road illegally. And this does not happen in just Thailand but in every country.

Tragic and needless....Yes.....will it happen again....Yes...

In Perth many young people the same age as these kids have lost their lives because they were driving illegally on the road in stolen vehicles and innocent people have been killed by these kids also...quite a few of these kids were on speed when it happened...

We are quick to blame the drunk driver and with good reason....but what if this guy was sober and driving within the speed limits....then who would you blame ?

I agree, though some posters (moderator) on this forum seems to find it normal.

Hence a tax payer has already contributed directly by his tax money, perhaps for many years. A tourist has not.

But a tourist is a tourist, two tiered pricing is unfair and only show a lack of respect for the foreigner who come here and contribute to the economy of Thailand. A tourist is not a milking cow designated to feed those lazy thais.

It's funny (peculiar, not haha) that in LOS, the roads are deadly but the 'enjoyment factor' is ten times higher. My personal opinion - freedom to drive how you like (within broad reasons). You actually have to engage your brain and drive your vehicle (and avoid all oncoming vehicles and livestock).

But I tell you this fellow motorists - give me the madness (and freedom) of the LOS roads over the sanitized boredom of the UK anyday.

Dual pricing was very common in Europe before EU and the Euro. Places like Spain and Greece very often had different prices for tourists and locals. Nowadays locals and tourists in Europe are more or less on par when it comes to spending power.

I agree it does not make sense that foreigners who are tax payers in Thailand are forced to pay a higher price, and this is the biggest beef I have with the idea.

As for tourists, I agree with sbk - a slightly higher price for tourists (all tourists, not just non-Asians) is acceptable due to them not paying tax. Although I must admit I have never seen Japanese tourists get in for the local price.

What are you smoking ? Tourists who come in Thailand spend a lot of money for accomodation, food, entertainment, shopping etc. Why should they pay double or more for tourist attractions ? Tax paying or not is not the problem, those who pay taxes here are also making money here isn't it ?

I play World of Warcraft on a french server based in Germany. On good days the latency is 500 to 750 ms playable if not perfect, today 1800 to 2600... unplayable.

And maybe all the farang nice guys are not interested in you so the only alternative is to have a thai BF ?
