Hi Everyone,
I hope someone can help me. I decided in October to study Thai at a well-respected and legitimate language school in Bangkok. And yes, I really want to learn Thai! I followed through on the process with them. I recently applied for a student visa with all supporting documentation. For proof of finances I submitted a verification letter from my US bank listing my current bank balance which is well in excess of any funds needed for the three month course, tuition and all other fees. I have used these letters previously to obtain tourist visas without issue. It lists my balance as of X date, my name, address, account number and date opened. My name matches the name on my ID.
I applied at the Embassy in Tokyo because that is where i currently am. I got a request for more documents stating they wanted 3 months of bank statements. I have never been asked for these and they are listed as one possible supporting document for sufficient resources along with sponsorship letter, etc. Those statements will show sufficient money in the account but the balance on official closing days fell below the requirements because I did not know I needed keep that much money in that account untouched for 3 months prior to my application, indeed for some of those months I did not even realize I wanted to take a Thai course.
I am struggling to see what I can do here. I have the funds right now to take the course and can easily show that. But I can see a rejection saying my closing balance on X date fell below the requirements 2 or 3 months ago. Any advice or suggestions?
Thanks.
