  1. I don’t disagree. A friend of mine went through a challenging time and his GP prescribed him Sertraline and he’s back to his old self. I still prefer a specialist, even if it’s just to reassure my since I always wanted to stay away from Any sort of medication. As I mentioned, I’ve tried all the home remedies including sleep hygiene. I function during the day but I’m not my usual self; everything feels heavy and pessimistic and numbed. That’s when I was able To fall back asleep—there are bad nights where I don’t get much sleep and the next day feels depressing. Thanks everyone for your valuable input. I started medication now. Too early to judge but so far so good.

  3. Thanks. To avoid misunderstandings, I am functional. I get up every day, brush my teeth, make my bed, I do my sports and still enjoy that, I meet people, I cook dinner on some days, I talk with friends over the phone, I work, I travel, I read books and watch TV. But the night time anxiety has been there for too long and the negative thoughts just got worse or more pronounced, and I feel like I should act and not let get worse and worse. This just for context, not trying to argue for or against anything.
  4. I’ve tried all that. Tested for deficiencies but don’t have any except for Vitamin D3. Started to take supplements but didn’t do much. Magnesium, L-theanine, L-tryptophan: didn’t do much either. Sleep hygiene, light therapy, a new bed and mattress, even got a CPAP machine for 30000 Baht: still waking up at night around the same time with my heart beating and physical symptoms of anxiety plus the heavy feeling of hopelessness and worthlessness. Days are naturally a bit better and I’m still functioning but there’s still a depressed mood, demoralization, and lack of energy. I just feel like this can’t be good for my (mental and physical) health if it keeps going for another 3 years (because it’s been that long), hoping that things get better. Eventually I tink you need to change course of action if what you’ve been doing doesn’t make a difference.
  5. Thank You @Sheryl
  6. I’m looking for a psychiatrist in Bangkok. I already tried/started online talk therapy using one of the big providers but feel like it’s time to add some medication too. If you can recommend a therapist in Bangkok who’s good, that’s appreciated too. I can’t tell whether the online talk therapy is any good or not because I don’t have a benchmark (I never did it before). I understand it can be hit and miss (but that’s the case even with a local therapist). PS: if it helps: Looking for a mild antidepressant that helps improving sleep and works against anxiety and hopelessness. ChatGPT suggests Sertraline or Mirtazapine.
