I went to French Polynesia including Bora Bora for work - I was filming a TV feature there for Swiss TV at the end of 2015.
It is one of the most amazing places on earth (that I have been to yet) - such clear sea water, great hotels, and wildlife.
I wasn't paying for it though, so that made a lot of difference. Had to fly Bangkok>Tokyo>Tahiti>Bora Bora so it's quite a journey.
We also went to the Marquesas Islands, Tahiti and Tetiaro (Marlon Brando Island).
Here's a link to the programme (although it's in German language)
The turtles and the salt production (and other bits) were on Bora Bora- 1

It's actually not that difficult - I got PR with my (Thai) wife assisting following Camerata's excellent Guide on here.
There's no actual need to have a law firm or company to help. Plus it saves a lot of money.

I departed BKK earlier this week (for the UK), and was handed a TM6 to fill in (I have PR so do it the other way round like a Thai national does, out then in).
Also I asked about registering to use the e-gates (as I have previously) and the immigration officer said that no one can use the e-gates now.

VFS now (well the last time I did it) hand out a letter template (you complete your own details) for you to take to Thai immigration to transfer your visa across to your new passport. I too have 2 current UK passports and have previously managed to transfer the visa across (I actually have PR now). But after taking your expiring passport to be renewed to VFS, you could ask for the transfer letter, and then be prepared to cut the corner on your old passport to show Thai Immigration that it has been cancelled (VFS only usually do this when you pick up your new passport, which could take 11 weeks or so during which time you wouldn't be able to travel). I've heard from colleagues though that Thai Immigration are getting more difficult about this. You could say that you're going down from 2 passports to 1 and not renewing your old passport, then presumably they would have to transfer it across - although they may ask for a letter to prove that..... FWIW.

I just went to do my re-entry (exit) on my PR (hadn't done it for over 2 years) and picked up a couple of spare forms, so attached here are scans of them - TM13 and TM22 - for anyone who might be going to do it soon (so you can complete them in advance). All in all it took just over an hour to get it done.

OP - If you don't mind saying, is your son aged under 17 years and 9 months? If he is - and doesn't have any underlying conditions - how did he get double vaxxed? My daughter is also 17 (but under that limit) and her school/GP won't arrange a second jab. That will condemn her to 10 days quarantine if she comes over in December. Apparently if you live with someone who's clinically vulnerable it's possible to get a second shot if you're under 17 years 9 months so I'm now trying that argument on them.
It's worth "shopping around" - trying different places to get vaccinations if at first your daughter is refused. I heard some places will vaccinate younger people - a friend of mine's daughter was 15 and got jabbed in August in the UK after a few tries.

In my condo the gym is small, you have to book in advance for 1 hour max, and it is limited to one person or one family, so it is not necessary to wear a mask.
There are cleaning sprays/cloths etc to wipe everything down before and after as required.
It seems to work well - you also book the swimming pool on the same basis.

mine took 6 years (10 years ago) - I kept renewing my work visa even though I had the "under consideration" stamp - but from what I read, you don't need to. Others may be able to confirm this.

I got PR but wasn't working for a Thai Co. - I was working for a UK company (media).
You don't need to be able to read Thai, but you need to be able to talk in Thai about yourself, job etc, and answer multiple choice questions, which are written in Thai but can be read out to you.
(well this was 10+ years ago when I got it - things may have changed)

I wanted to try this out on my bike (bicycle) last week, and saw that it connected with the end of Sukhumvit Soi 10. So I biked down there, but the park guard on the gate wouldn't let me go through with my bike, even if I walked and wheeled it.
There were a few bikes leaning against the wall - even a young kids bike - so he was obviously not making any exceptions.
So I had to go back up Soi 10 and around to the entrance for Benjakiti park. I could then access the "Green Mile' and even cycle up to the other side of the gate that the guard wouldn't let me through. I tried to ask the other park guards why I couldn't come through that gate with my bike but they said he was a tobacco monopoly guard and nothing to do with them. Just a warning... not really a joined up policy unfortunately.
(attached pics of the gate in question - you can see the start of the green mile just beyond the guard in the photo)- 2

I had mine about 12 or so years ago so things might have changed, but I found it to be very friendly and kind of just like having a chat. Asking about job, family, how long I'd been in Thailand etc.
For the multiple choice test, they read the questions out as it was written in Thai - and I don't remember the questions being too difficult. One - on what province Suvarnabhumi was in - I understood the question but wasn't sure between 2 answers and picked the wrong one - at this point the new airport had only just opened.
I'm sure if your Thai is reasonable you'll be fine.
Good luck.

Only had a quick skim through but they're very impressive. Educated, articulate (even with the language barrier), confident speakers, westernised in their approach to democracy, able to hold an audience and openly discuss their ideas.
Could you imagine Prayut and Prawit being able to do something like this even in Thai? Not a chance. The differences are staggering between them and the current regime. Thailand badly needs people like them for its future.
In fact PM Prayut has an open invitation to address the FCCT - a tradition that has happened over a number of years with former Thai prime ministers. A date was set for late February, but this was delayed until possibly March, but now has been indefinitely delayed.

No I was not overcharged as I didn't accept it, but they are still overcharging by setting a higher price for an identical service. I did walk away and didn't use their services which is of course everyone's right. At least they told me in advance that it would cost more. Is this common practice in the photo printing business? Has anyone experienced it elsewhere?
-
anyone come across this before? I just took some photos to be printed at <removed> at Emporium, 12x8 prints are 50 baht, except for one that I've photoshopped myself of 20 ID pics of me in a frame which I also would like printed 12x8in. No sir, that one will cost you 300baht! Why? It's our policy. Even though it's your camera, and you've done all of the work..... No amount of arguing would make them change their minds. Protecting their own ID photo business. Anyone think this is wrong?

I have 2 passports as well (UK)
When one (the main one I use for Thailand) was almost full, I went to renew it at VFS but they let you keep the passport (although they don't cut the corner, you can't use it for travel).
I then went to immigration to renew the visa, and got them to stamp it into the new passport - if they needed to see the old one was cancelled, I was prepared to cut the corner, but they didn't ask for that to be done.
-
I just came back into Suvarnabhumi (1 March) and the e-gates still aren't working for non-Thai passport holders
-
I left BKK on Sunday (23 Feb) and it wasn't working (PR holder with UK passport). The lady said something about a software update - so I had to go through a manual gate (but it was so quiet, only 1 person in front of me)
It did work previously for me on 9 Jan.
-
can anyone confirm that with your PR visa/re-entry, you can let it expire if you are in the country?
And then renew it just before you need to leave?
I've had PR for about 6 years, but have always renewed before the old one expired as I travel a lot, but this time probably won't be travelling out of the country for a month or so (but will be travelling/working away from home within Thailand when the current one expires)
thanks

Requirements to extend Alien Registration (Police) Book
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

I think they only need 1 photo (they're larger than the 'normal' size) but bring a couple.
Police stations like Thonglor in Bangkok don't need you to make an appointment although they don't start until about 9.30-10am
