  1. Reduced stocks in supermarkets in this part of Issaan (Kantharalak SiSaket), but the beer box shops and local stores still run at their normal grossly overstocked levels!

Sounds like a good excuse to evacuate Bangkok to me

Well we are not sharing in Chiangmai, you mexicans down south can find your own beer supplies. It's a dog eat dog world when it comes to beer.:D Just tugging your chains cobbers, we Aussies fully understand what it's like to be as dry as a dead dingo's donger.

Hope this cheers you all up...............

There's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear......................."

Probably lost on a lot of People but a good song non the less, not an Aussie by the way

  2. This is not a new scam. It's only greed that will make anyone fall for it. They just change the way they approach the victim from time to time and from country to country.

Anyone that has seen "The Sting", (Rboert Redford Paul Newman ) must see the similarity .Just because you get conned in Thailand does not mean theese local guys don't know how to pull off a conviincing scam.BEWARE

  3. Low compared to what, North Korea? It's only low when you're low end, such as mediocre housing rental or dining out noodles on the street, but for anything of substance, such as quality food & wines, car imports, or mortgages and loans for vehicles, proper internet, it is the same, if not more, than the West. I agree with the post above yours, although those buying votes are clever as they know full well the masses are too stoopid to know what they're buying into.

Eating noodles off the street makes it extremely cheap, but even eating in restaurants is relatively cheap. Ofcourse, if you're wanting to eat imported foods, then you have to pay for that, but that's mostly due to import taxes.

I have proper internet here costing me 640 baht. It would cost me twice that in Aus.

I ate out last night at a reasonable restaurant - 800 baht for 2 people, including some beers. You wouldn't get that in the west.

you had thai fast food in a semi clean establishement.

If you were to go to a local fast food place in the west and get a few beers with a burgers and onion ring.. or even a pita with kebab(which is closer to the type of thai fastfood you had) it would of cost you around 600-1k baht as well.

You'd see the difference if you understood that a decent restaurant in the west can only compare to a high quality royal thai cuisine restaurant. Thais mostly eat fast food even in those fake fancy places

You assume that Thai fast food is not Quality food. My wife and I have a very sucsessful Thai Restaurant and the food is fast and very good

Not Bangkok street vendor prices but .www.thaionthefly.ca

  4. I hope they release them all soon so I can get that money the all have for me. I was wondering why I had not been getting as many emails lately.

Good one. I haven't recevied many of the offers recently but instaed I found out I've one a Football Pool so at least the money will still keep rolling in.

  5. Good riddance to these white garbage. What the bloody Thai Immigration and Police needs to do is to be more restrictive in the visas and more intense screening esp to people from Britain, America and Australia and also other European Countries as Thailand and also other parts of Asia are attracting the garbage from these countries.

Sarcasim only works if it is worded right .If this is not your intent Do not not post on this site Everyone here is an expert!

  6. Just when the tourist numbers were starting to come back. Wondering how Thailand will prepare for this pandemic. Will Yingluck tell the Thai people to start killing off birds for the sake of tourist? or will this Novice leader step up with emergency funds needed to create an environment in the poultry industry that the mutant virus has less chance of wanting to thrive. The word is out from the UN but that does not mean the rural (voting base) for the (Pardon Thaskin Party) has been updated to this new mutant strain of an old nemesis.

the virus that has infected 565 people since it first appeared in 2003, killing 331 of them. The latest death was reported in Cambodia earlier this month.

Hardly a pandemic definatly not an epidemic

  7. A recent World Health Organisation (WHO) report has pegged the number of female prostitutes in the country at 2 lakh.

can someone enlighten me? how much is 2 lakh.?

    thaisabai

"A lakh (play /ˈlæk/ lak or /ˈlɑːk/ lahk; also lac) is a unit in the Indian numbering system equal to one hundred thousand (100,000; 105). It is widely used both in official and other contexts in Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Pakistan, and is often used in Indian English."

Why would the thr "WHO" in their infinite wisdom, report currency in lakh?? 2 lahk sounds a little too much like tee luk.I'll call bs on this breaking news story

  8. I don't know you are in Canada, but quality (Aroy-d ) has been in short supply for a few months in BC

Don't know why but no shortage of Thai coconut milk on the shelf in Canada.

  9. Assault and battery, grievous bodily harm, attempted murder - why is the restaurant owner not in custody now and that being reported? I guess it would be too hard for the police to try to 'prove' the case against the owner as he can simply say - no idea what you are talking about! Then it is hearsay until proven otherwise. The other post was right, the girl is insignificant and the family probably can't "pay" for justice. Very sad situation indeed. But let's see if public outcry will motivate the Police Minister into getting things happening. Another nail in the coffin of the Thai Tourism Authority and Phuket as a destination.

Refreshingb to hear " Another nail in the coffin" of the Thai Tourism Authority and Phuket as a destination.

I Might as well say the next,, if you don't love it leave it

Comeon you senior posters and admins let us hear some wisdom?

  11. I had my Kasikorn atm card stolen while I was in Vietnam and whilst I was trying to cancel it with the hopeless staff in Thailand they went shopping and cleared out my account. No PIN number needed! I lost 17,000 baht...luckily I never keep too much in my Thai bank accounts as I know there's no chance of getting it back...moral of the story? Never keep more in a Thai bank than you can afford to lose as there's no protection from fraud here like in most western countries. I even managed to get online and report the theft before it was used but the guy couldn't cancel it...I had to call the hotline in Thailand and by the time I managed to talk with somebody it had already been used! There're still a lot of countries where a pin number is not required to make a purchase so be careful guys, if you lose your card you could lose all your money to boot! By the way I also lost an HSBC UK credit card at the same time and this got hit up for 150,000...had the money refunded within 2 days! DON'T TRUST THAI BANKS WITH BIG $$$!!!

Yes I'm sure you can get cash from an ATM without a PIN <deleted>??

  12. why don't you allow foreigners to own land in Thailand

I think they did once, somewhere by the sea... everything was snapped up (by Germans i was told).

In my opinion the coast of Thailand is near enough ruined, sure, its great if you have the cash, but im sure that most Thai's cannot afford a room on the more beautiful spots. Everything is either farang owned or targetted to farang.

I say it's more or less ruined, but thats me comparing it to the Indian ocean beaches of Tanzania, and Mozambique.

If farang were allowed to own land, I think this place would rapidly disintegrate, I have a feeling that the baby boomers would swamp this place, which is great for the baby boomers, but would also generate huge amounts of hatred.

After all these years you clog heads just don't get it do you? Listen up, your in Thailand, live with it or get the hel_l out. stop wasting bandwith and our time....

I agree 2000% love it or leave it, you do not have to have land in your name to enjoy Thailand.!!!
