  1. Numchai electrical hardware shop Naklua, not the shop on the corner selling TV's, or walk up Soi Sawangfahfrom Naklua road and there are multiple small electric hardware shops, Alternatively similar shops on Thepprasit.

You need small shops rather than mainstream homepro etc........

  2. Good to hear you got it sorted.

What model Guild out of interest?

I have a range of guitars at home including the EJ-200-CE and the Yamaha F-310. The Epi is a bit of a beast, gives a big sound and is loud when plugged in,  and the Yamaha is my "beach guitar", which has taken a hammering over the last 10-12 years. As it's in the sun a lot, all I do is clean it and use a humidifier.

  3. We have a 16 channel CCTV system for our house. It may act as a small visual deterrent, but if any burglar wants to have a go, he could easily do so when we are out (assuming they have been watching our movements).

He would then have to get past the two Ridgebacks that roam the garden (high walled house).

Assuming he gets past the dogs and into the house, the PIR alarm system would initiate, the alarm company would notify us by phone and we would then have the pleasure of watching the break-in in glorious Technicolor on our CCTV via mobile phone ................... splendid system. (The alarm company would also send the police !)

I can also use it to see when the wife goes out shopping, and it reminds me to tell her to buy me a few beers !:shock1:

  4. Been up to the Environmental Agency office in Chonburi.

We had a permit to drill when we opened the well some 12 years ago. We also have a contract to extract water from the ground at a maximum of 30'cubic metres per month. I didn't know we had these but they were held with the Agency. The permit expired after ten years. We therefore have to get a new permit. Currently we are taking water without a permit and maybe fined up to 5K baht.

We have to install a water meter and then record daily / monthly totals on forms provided by the Agency. We need to take a picture of the meter reading each month and email it to them. They will send us a bill every quarter. The billing rate is 3.5 baht / unit. (need to check what a "unit" is). They will come to inspect the meter installation to ensure we do not cheat. i.e. install a bypass. They said there will be no back-charge for the last 12 years as the new ruling has just come in this year !

If we lived in a rural area that didn't have city water available there would be no charge - this does not apply to us.

I guess a lot of contractors did not follow the procedure and there are therefore a lot of wells in existence that are effectively illegal.

This has now become more of a focus in the Chonburi region due to National water shortages. Chonburi is not declared an "at risk" area but in a meeting the agency held on 23 Feb. 2016 they have decided the situation has gone un-checked for too long and decided they need to monitor regional water usage to mitigate against future issues.

    thats all folks !

  5. I believe the letter states bore sizes larger than 100mm (4 inch) must have a meter installed. Maybe you are correct and they just want to monitor usage, without charge. I am in Pattaya and the local reservoirs are still quite full.

  6. I believe there is to start to be charges for using underground water. Guidelines are not yet clear but for well sizes greater than 100mm a water meter must be installed. (I think?)

    Anybody else heard of this?

What is the meter rate for underground water, surely not the same as city water ?

  7. Thanks for the reply, yes I should have said non-malignant.

We are used to various forms of lumps on the dogs and most are harmless and can be just ignored. The problem is that some turn into sores on the male dog. The suggestion is he is prone to mast cell tumors and the only way to get them tested is to take him to the vet and get them removed / biopsied.

Trips to the vets are just impossible, last time we semi-sedated him at home, by mouth with some liquid given by the vet. Problem is that it does not knock him out enough and he still hates (get aggressive) going to the vet !

Ah well ! here we go again (counts fingers first !)

    thanks!

  8. My dog has so far had three skin tumors removed to date. The first lab result said Mast cell tumor was present, was low grade and the prognosis was fair. That was a couple of years ago. The dog is 10 years old this year and has developed some small similar tumors on his legs. We have had two of the larger lumps removed last year, and we were told they were not tumorous.

He has a few other small growths on his legs and the vets advice is to get them cut out as soon as they become larger /start weeping / become a concern.

The dog is a large Thai Ridge Back and he definitely doesn't like going to the vets, and getting him sedated is a major trauma !

Question is are there any other treatments rather than surgery. I've read about chemo medication - but don't really want to go that route. I was thinking about creams or lotions to burn off / remove the smaller ones.

    Any advice welcomed .................

  9. A newspaper report states Thailand leading the way in banning alcohol sales.

piffle! The bars and clubs will simply relocate ! (if their businesses suffer!)

Been around any provincial campus sites where there are hundreds of small apartment blocks designed for students ? These are well "off-campus" and the nightlife is vibrant !

Students will just find the nearest legal (or illegal) place to drink ................. get real people!

  10. Pick the string manufacturer you prefer i.e. D'Addario, select the type number of the string.

Go to the OEM website and try to find Thai distributors. (D'Addario has 3 listed)

Send them an e-mail to see if they stock the required type, if yes, then money transfer , Thai EMS to doorstep.

If no, then wash, rinse repeat with another supplier.

Maybe difficult as not so popular in Thailand, maybe niche market like the Jazz scene?

    Happy hunting !
