I'm looking for flower seed packets or seeds sold in bulk. This is an errand for my friend in Sihanoukville, who's opening a restaurant and wants some climbing flowering plants, like morning glories, for decoration. Perhaps someone here can suggest other hardy local flowers to fit the bill. Also, I wonder if the Latin name of the flower is on the packet, since I don't read Thai! Someone told me there's a seed market across from the Weekend Market, but I thought I'd get a second opinion here. --cheers, doug
PS. Sorry, I double posted this, once in the Bangkok forum and once here. Both seemed appropriate, but it may not be cool.

Thanks. I actually haven't bought the phone yet, so I don't have a provider, but your reply gives me an idea. That sounds pretty cheap, actually, and I guess I can use the cell phone to "feed" internet to my laptop via bluetooth.
How do they sell it? As a service listed on your SIM card? (PS. I'm just getting into the whole mobile phone world, don't know <deleted>, though I've got lots of experience with PCs.)
What provider do you use? DTAC and 12call have different plans. I have 12call 20 hours for 100 baht a month --speed is not too bad. Faster than dial up usually. -
I'd like to use my cellphone (Nokia n70) to access the internet. What are some plans, the cost and speed?

Thanks to the people who simply tried to answer the question, rather than moralise. I just wanted to know what the possible consequences were, and there seems to be a range of opinions, and of course enforcement varies depending on where you are--none on some of the islands and a very bad time in Bangkok. From what I've heard from people who know, the official penalties are not those in practice. A bust in Samui gets you a trip to the Surat jail. After a 50,000B bail (which you never get back), there's a 5,000 or so baht fine, and that's it. I don't know what your visa status will be after this though, which is why I asked the question. IMO there's no moral justification for these laws (alcohol is a more dangerous drug--look the drunk driving death stats for Thailand), but you can't ignore the laws either.

Someone told me that even a minor pot bust can get one banned from the country for life. Is this true?

I do alot of motorbiking in Thailand (and bicycling too), and need a detailed road map of Thailand (particularly the south)--showing the minor roads, as well as the highways. Can anyone recommend one? Or even better, an online one.

What's wrong with PP? Would Vientienne be better? (I certainly don't want to have to fly back to the US to get another 3 months).
Both options should work; although PP may not be the best choice for the second tourist visa (and if you get the first there I am sure you will not get another).

Am I correct in thinking I can get a tourist visa for 2 months, extend the tourist visa for an extra month, and then use my maximum 3 border crossings (a month each)--and get my 6 months that way? Or simply get 2 consecutive tourist visa + extensionss, by leaving the country after the first expires, and going up to Phenom Pen to the Thai embassy for another tourist visa/extension? People have told me this can't be done, so I thought I'd ask.

I flew in from Germany 3 months ago on a single entry tourist visa (American passport). I extended the visa for a month and it's about to run out. I want to stay another three months. My question is: can I get three more months as three border runs, or do I have to go to a nearby capitol like Vientiene and get a 3 month tourist visa from the Thai embassy?
This is probably in a FAQ someplace but I couldn't find the FAQ.

A friend told me that it's possible for an American to own up to 1 rei (about 1/3 acre?) of land in his own name, that this law is a relic of the Vietnam war and it is still valid. Is this really true? My German wife and I are considering building a little retirement house in Thailand.

I live here, and I'm looking for affordable health insurance that actually delivers when you need it.
I talked to a doctor at Bumrungrad yesterday, and he wouldn't recommend
any Thai health insurance providers (and Bumrungrad doesn't have their own). He said that the Thai plans didn't deliver. They try to get out of paying you when you really need it (major medical bills), by paying only a fraction of the cost, or saying it was a preexisting condition, or only paying enough to ship you back home where you hopefully have some real insurance.

There was once an excellent foot massage place, not on KSR, but the next parallel street over (toward the King's Palace). But it's GONE. Can anyone help me find a gooood massage place in this area. I'm not afraid to walk a bit to get satisfaction.
thanks to all
