  1. Try ZEER Rangsit. Dozens of PC;s Laptops etc. I have bought 2 for home use - neither cost over B4,000 - both are HP models with Flat screen monitor/keyboard/mouse/DVD rewriter etc. 50Gb HDD + 1mb Ram - not brilliant - but OK for general use - with 3 month "warranty" Both have been trouble free and I think they are good value for money. But, - they DON't do delivery!

  2. "Dengue is no bloody joke. Take care.

Have had this dreadful disease twice (in Indonesia) and it was excruciating - I recall joint pains, extreme photophobia, rashes and delirium. I was in my 20's but the young girl in the next room, with the same symptoms, died.

And just to round things off, you can have extreme fatigue and flashbacks (like malaria) for a year after."

Not for nothing was it called "breakbone fever" in the old days! I have had 2 doses of this nasty affliction since living in Bangkok - for sure I don't want a third! You probably won't die from it, but while you have got it you will probably wish you could!

  3. He will need to exit country, pay maximum overstay fine of 20,000 baht. They may ask him if he has been working. He can re-enter Thailand immediately after he passes through bordering country immigration. Safest way to do it is to pay fine at the airport, take a flight out of the country, and then return, as he is subject to arrest if he should get stopped before he leaves Thailand and is asked for his passport.

While we all need to obey the laws here, overstay is a common violation, and the comments above are rather inappropriate. I know people who have cured as much as 12 year overstays. As long as you stay out of trouble, the odds of an arrest are low.

Very well put, it's the facts.

Is this B20,000 arrangement still valid? I have heard today, from a source close to an Embassy, that the rules have changed and that you cannot pay at the airport any more - long overstays incur a fine of B6,000 + one night in the immigration lock-up followed by deportation!

Any truth in this? Any first hand experiences?

  4. Re cat imports. The regs as stated are correct....but I have imported several cats over the years. My wife accompanied 2 which we brought in from South Africa ( via Suadi and Viet Nam. We expected the cats to arrive at the freight terminal...however as she waited for her baggage in terminal 2 ...out come the moggies on the rotunda !!! She merely scooped up the cage, put it on the trolley and went through the Green channel. The two Thai customs guys saw her coming and turned their backs!!!...too much paperwork involved I guess. The cats are still here 7 years later. Its luck of the draw I guess!
