I've always had to produce the original when applying for my extension.

The explanation given by immigration is nonsense, There is no new rule and what immigration proposes would probably require a change of the law.
But some immigration offices like to have the 90 day report in sync with the 1 year extension to make things easier.
Up here in Khon Kaen they like to keep it in sync.
Have been doing it for a few years
Same in Udon

I believe the evidence of Pension must be the original otherwise why would they return the copy?
(I have always had to show or send the original Pension Statement) Otherwise it is open to abuse.

Renewed mine a fortnight before they run out but that was in Udon.

I feel for the guys who like to have a quite drink ,and they take that away from you because of elections. I peronally dont drink(maybe a bottle every 6 months) so it does not worry me.But I think it is wrong for the guys who want that quite drink. So on election day the goverment members dont have a drink?
Nobody says they cannot drink, they just cannot drink in a bar.

Life here is pretty simple...Accept, Adjust and Enjoy it,
If it isnt as good or better than where we come from what are we doing here?
Why complain and try to change it to what we left behind, isnt that why we left, because we wern't satified with what we had?
So nobody is allowed to critisize about any aspect of thailand, you mean ? Nowhere it is perfect, nowhere......just keep quiet and accept it you write. Do you maybe not understand that many critisize, and explain it, because they actually care ....
You're right nowhere is perfect . And I didnt say keep quiet but Im certainly not going to get stressed and whine about things I have no control over...
But what I actually mean is they complain and criticise about life here because they would prefer it the way it was 'back home'.
You see it here everyday, why do we have to do this, why do we have to do that, why cant I buy a drink when I want to.
I learned very early in life not to get stressed about the things you cant change, its their country their rules and laws and we CHOSE to come and live here.
Yep! accept it adjust and enjoy it because it's where we chose to live....Try it, it leads to a stress free enviroment.
One things for sure, if I hated it as much as a lot of posters here, I just wouldn't stay

If you intend to apply for an O/A visa in London then there will be no restrictions on your ability to travel and each entry to Thailand will provide a one year "permission" to stay whilst the visa is valid. By arranging to make an entry immediately prior to the visa expiry will secure a 2nd years "permission to stay" . If you wish to travel during this 2nd year a re -entry permit must be obtained from an immigration office.
This was the route I took as it enabled me to stay 2yrs without having to show funds here for extensions. Easy when you get your head around the requirements.
Despite the number of holidays you have had here, living here is not the same.

Im a newbie (retired) only been here 6 years, married for 4 and live in Udon Thani (just outside the city).
My advice is accept, adjust and you will soon find life will become just normal, (even guys driving the wrong way down the street becomes acceptable.
Life is what you make it but try to avoid comparing it to the west. Life is easier here than the west, less hassle, more freedom.
My only regret is not being able to move here sooner (retired at 55)
I agree with many posters, this forum attracts many negative posts if it rains or its too hot... its the Thais fault, you do wonder why (if they are living here) why they bother.

Another pile of garbage. I can withdraw money from my Thai bank using my ATM card for free. If yours charges you then change bank. The reason why Thailand has so many ATMs is the same reason why Thailand has so many bars and so many ladyboys: Taking advantage of the foreigner and finding ways to separate him from his money. Thailand ATMs have the highest fees in the world for foreigners. It's a huge money maker for the bank - charging you extremely high fees to access your OWN money!
You have to love the nonsense some posters on here come up with.
Perhaps this person does not have his own money in a Thai bank account!
It could very likely be in a foreign bank where he is accessing it through a ATM here
in Thailand!.
Maybe next time before you accuse someone of posting nonsense you should open
your mind up a bit as to what they are really talking about!
Then if thats the case it will attract charges, I should add its not difficult to open an account here there have been numerous posts on the subject.
In the UK the 'link sytem' often charges other cards and very often the Banks will tell you any charge is levied by Visa or Mastercard

The rates offered in the airport are poor. Only change what you have to at the airport and wait until you get in town. Best rate at TT Exchange.
I figured they would not be the best rate, always try to sting you at the airport, just thought the savings on a £1000 would not be that much,
can see the wife marching me around BKK looking for good rate
anyone have idea of difference in rate ? please ..... like roughly ?
" can see the wife marching me around BKK looking for good rate "
Coal to Newcastle !!!
Not everyone who comes here is a sex tourist!!

They should certainly supply a tracking number.
Do you now need a letter from the British Embassy saying your old passport is cancelled?
Whether you need the letter or not will depend upon the immigration office you have to go to transfer your stamps.
Bangkok immigration has been reported as not asking for it.
Udon never required a letter either.

Just had mine re-newed. It arrived Liverpool 17/2 and was received here today.

Sorry, I always ignore the many touts at the exit door and walk to my car.
If I arrive Udon same day as you I might give you a free ride, but I am already here and have no immediate travel plans.
You will need to ask the touts
The 'touts' are the mini bus shuttle operators you get your ticket from the desk 60 Baht into Town.
-
Last April 2013 the only way to get from Udon Thani airport into town was by the Taxi marfia.
300Thb into town, no other way.
Going back from Udon to airport by Tok tok was 150Thb.
aussiep
No taxi mafia at Udon, No Taxi's operate from there - Not Allowed
-
Theres a mini bus shuttle from the airport, only way to get into town. No taxis at the airport.
The office is in front of you as you come out of baggage. Reasonably priced around about 60 Baht.

All these posts by people who have left Thailand for their variety of anti Thai reasons yet are reading and contributing to Thai Visa.... seems you just cant let go...the mind boggles

If you are 'clean' theres nothing to worry about.
We choose to live here and it comes with warts and all........

Its not bare knuckle fighting its Muay Thai for petes sake, Its organised just like any other muay thai fight. Other boxers go into the jail to compete. The prisoner wouldn't have been released just on the result of a fight there would have been other facors.
You guys can surly take any oppotunity to knock anything Thai, talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill..........
