People really should read the article on The Enquirer before making their assumptions about what this is about. Its a bona fide case for slander IMHO. Just read the article. -
England adds Thailand and Montenegro to travel red list

I looked it up, you are right BUT the first patch of land which was the road frontage and the shopping centre was sold a long time before the back of the site. It was converted to a fair ground first then the shopping centre was built. That was well before 2018. -

I think it was Gordon Browns government if my memories are accurate? Selling everything to make the new labour deficit look less worse than it was. -

I must admit that surprised me. Guess I can stop looking for a cheap flight/route back now. I was looking forward to going to the pub again. Obviously means Thailand does not have anything under control as UK official daily covid figures are quite higher than Thailands. UPDATED TO ANSWER MY OWN OPINION: from UK gov website "Thailand and Montenegro will be added to the red list from 4am on Monday 30 August 2021, reflecting the increased case rates in these countries and the higher risk that travel from these countries poses to UK public health. The high rates combined with lower levels of published genomic surveillance in Thailand and Montenegro than other countries mean that an outbreak of a new variant or existing variants of concern (VOC) or variants under investigation (VUI) cannot be easily identified before it is imported and seeded across the UK." -
You read things like this and no matter how long you have lived here or think you understand Thailand and Thainess, you are left with a few thoughts: a) its really much worse than you could have ever have imagined. b) corruption is so ingrained there will never be an iotas reduction never mind an end to it. c) deep down how does the Thai mind accept this kind of thing (and they do just think it is their "normal") d) If I ever got in trouble here what are my chances of losing everything, or worse?

I am 74, I am on the process of selling up and leaving. You forget things like "dialling 999" it does not exist either. -
Is that correct? I just used my normal health insurance policy (Cigna) that included covid. But I entered 10 months ago.

Maybe they should tell us who is NOT entitled? -
It does seem to be the norm (in all but a couple of provinces) as the word "essential" has never been qualified by the powers that be and the only actual implemented ban is during the curfew hours it seems.

Well for those who considered Malaysias 10 year visa/right to buy property MMSH programme an option or a route that Thailand may take, the Malaysian system has just been overhauled and updated to start again in October this year. It now requires a minimum monthly income of 40,000 Ringet (about 10,000 USD) !!!! Wow!

Whale replied to NorthernRyland's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
So just jump on a plane now. Thailand has been open since October last year for international arrivals. Just have to do the quarantine/follow the rules.
