  1. People really should read the article on The Enquirer before making their assumptions about what this is about. Its a bona fide case for slander IMHO. Just read the article.
  2. I looked it up, you are right BUT the first patch of land which was the road frontage and the shopping centre was sold a long time before the back of the site. It was converted to a fair ground first then the shopping centre was built. That was well before 2018.
  3. Finding green country that lets you enter from Thailand without quaratine is not easy. I was looking myself but it was complicated (UK passport)
  4. Another Red Bull/black cat poacher case that will go on for so many years some of us will die before it gets resolved. And no doubt another committee on police reform that will never end or make no meaningful reform recommendations. Follow the cash to the inevitable multiple road blocks. Thailand.
  5. I think it was Gordon Browns government if my memories are accurate? Selling everything to make the new labour deficit look less worse than it was.
  6. Why? Sorry I don't understand that but am sure there's a reason I have not thought of?
  7. I must admit that surprised me. Guess I can stop looking for a cheap flight/route back now. I was looking forward to going to the pub again. Obviously means Thailand does not have anything under control as UK official daily covid figures are quite higher than Thailands. UPDATED TO ANSWER MY OWN OPINION: from UK gov website "Thailand and Montenegro will be added to the red list from 4am on Monday 30 August 2021, reflecting the increased case rates in these countries and the higher risk that travel from these countries poses to UK public health. The high rates combined with lower levels of published genomic surveillance in Thailand and Montenegro than other countries mean that an outbreak of a new variant or existing variants of concern (VOC) or variants under investigation (VUI) cannot be easily identified before it is imported and seeded across the UK."
  8. Its in the write up, a junior police officer who was scared for his own life as he knew about it.
  9. Me too, as Sheryl sated I just emailed the insurance company and they sent me a letter stating covid was covered and I used that to get visa, COE and then entered OK.
  10. You read things like this and no matter how long you have lived here or think you understand Thailand and Thainess, you are left with a few thoughts: a) its really much worse than you could have ever have imagined. b) corruption is so ingrained there will never be an iotas reduction never mind an end to it. c) deep down how does the Thai mind accept this kind of thing (and they do just think it is their "normal") d) If I ever got in trouble here what are my chances of losing everything, or worse?
  11. I am 74, I am on the process of selling up and leaving. You forget things like "dialling 999" it does not exist either.
  12. Is that correct? I just used my normal health insurance policy (Cigna) that included covid. But I entered 10 months ago.
  13. You dont say if the computer system rejects your application or if its rejected on review by a human a few days later?
  14. 2:20 looks interesting they are obviously not the party goers, maybe the wealthy neighbours who called in the fuzz? The lady in the yellow dress.
  15. It does seem to be the norm (in all but a couple of provinces) as the word "essential" has never been qualified by the powers that be and the only actual implemented ban is during the curfew hours it seems.
  16. The question is do "we" really want tourism back to past levels and the rampant association with concrete, uncontrolled building and greed.
  17. Well for those who considered Malaysias 10 year visa/right to buy property MMSH programme an option or a route that Thailand may take, the Malaysian system has just been overhauled and updated to start again in October this year. It now requires a minimum monthly income of 40,000 Ringet (about 10,000 USD) !!!! Wow!
  18. It's over, we left. We now need to sort out how we continue to progressively go forward, end of.
  19. I hope they get on with it fast. I have my second AZ (a god and Anutin willing) in September and I am keen to return to the UK for a while without the impediment of quarantine. If the stars align I will be a happy camper.
  20. Did they give you the vaccination "certificate" for two doses?
  21. Maybe his time would be better spent catching criminals, corrupt officials and stopping serious crime so as to try and install some confidence in the public at large about the police?
  22. Sadly IMHO, it will recover. There are enough sex tourists and enough Thai girls willing to enter the industry that it will surely recover as soon as travel gets easier.
  23. So just jump on a plane now. Thailand has been open since October last year for international arrivals. Just have to do the quarantine/follow the rules.
