  1. Yes, it maddens me that the market is largely a fight between leverage traders and the market makers. The market maker always wins in the end. Makes the market very complicated and sometimes very scary for retail traders and hodlers.
  2. The only chance we may have at peace is these terrible overtly rich people pressurising the despicable person. Even the west does not want the sanctions to continue. All will be forgiven. Pains me to say it but lasting action or pressure is not on the cards IMHO. The west and the IMF and world bank will pay for the rebuilding of Ukraine. Not fair I know but I think thats how it play out.
  3. Thailand does support crypto, just not as a form of payment yet. Heres a quote from the Thai press last week that many dont realise : "With Thailand leading the world in the proportion of internet users owning cryptocurrencies (20.1% of Thais aged 16-64)" UK is similar, does not support as an alternative currency but as an investment its fine. The exchange I use is approved by the UK government. Why would Thailand not support as a form of payment? IMHO because it is a serious risk to the Thai baht, Thailand will want to have a digital currency of its own in place because the current capitalisation of crypto is 4 times higher than Thailand's total market capitalisation! Crypto is here. It may be too big to stop but countries will want to slow its adoption down to protect their own financial systems.
  4. Paid. Paid for it online night before and had injection next day.
  5. Can anyone offer any advice or insights on who/what/where/costs/best options for someone wanting to send a shipment of Personal effects to the UK? In all its about 1.5 cubic meters of household and personal effects. i.e. pictures/computer gear/clothes/odds and sods with sentimental value. I dont care if it takes a while to get there. Anyone done it recently or have any recommendations? Cheers
  6. I had a similar one about 3 weeks ago, mobile number and prerecorded message in Thai saying 2 officers and a lady would visit me. I raised it here but no one had had similar. Nobody turned up, I thought it was potentially a scam of some sort.
  7. My sympathies for your situation. The major parts of your story are not uncommon as you probably know. Pick yourself up and move on. Be there for your kids when the appropriate time comes (probably when they are older?).
  8. Even when its "legal" the one we want will still be illegal. Its like an exercise is mass confusion causing.
  9. At least life is cheaper here (so I keep being told) so the even in the worst case the 200 baht wont bother too much. I get the principle of it is the issue to you not the fiscal amount?
  10. It only means that it cannot be used as a currency to buy good or services in Thailand. nothing else. Its not a biggy IMHO.
  11. I did Moderna booster after 2 x AZ. AZ had no side effects for me but was a bit light headed for an hour after the Moderna, and my arm was sore as hell for a couple of days. My biggest surprise was there was only me and three other people for the twenty minutes I was in the hospital (medP). If I had known it was so easy I would have done it earlier.
  12. You should see what they have done for Bangkok and surrounding provinces regarding bulldozers and concrete. If it foretells the future it is not a good omen. An ugly concrete tip.
  13. I would say I was shocked but the money grubbing corrupt dinosaur clans that rule this place never really shock me. I will be happy to be out of it all.
  14. Makes sense until volatility reduces significantly. Will change when CBDC's come into play.
  15. Its a muddy situation which thankfully Thailand is not bothering with at the moment. Just explain to your bank that you are in Thailand and authorities do not issue TINs to retirees (actually you can get one if you push - I went to tax office when I retired and they told me not to bother) and your bank should allow you to have a non TIN status. HSBC allow me to keep that status to this day, its just a check box on their online TID registration system.
  16. Has anyone ever been asked to prove this rule by the tax office? i.e. prove your remittance is for funds older than 1 year?
  17. Interesting quote I read yesterday .... "With Thailand leading the world in the proportion of internet users owning cryptocurrencies (20.1% of Thais aged 16-64), it’s clear why many companies are choosing to either invest in or facilitate this hugely popular and rapidly growing market, gradually shifting the dynamics of money and finance with important implications for the country’s future. "
  18. I don't think they will have anyway of knowing what the source of funds are other than what you claim on the transfer (i.e. "for living expenses") from your personal savings account. In nearly 30 years of transferring money in I have never been asked and neither have I volunteered to declare. I see this whole thing as only relevant to Thai exchanges cashing to Thai banks.
  19. I agree, it is not racist, the R word is bandied about by many where it does not apply. _______________________ I am trying to get my head around why it is so though. The only thing I can think of is that if you are seen to have a foreign clientele then you are assumed to be making higher profits (because you are overcharging them?) therefore can afford more tax. So is it a form of discrimination on the basis of not being Thai? Or a policy supporting xenophobia or a policy promoting the use of the Thai language for Thai shoppers? Is it a form of double pricing? One could argue that it is not because a Thai business owner is paying the additional charge but then is it promoting Thai businesses that have foreign custom to overcharge them compared to Thais to cover additional tax liabilities? Is it just another example of how foreigners and foreign income are considered by the government? A fat cow to be milked daily. My mind is blown.
  20. Well this thread has shocked me. I never knew any of this. Shocked.
