  1. I actually think for the amount of traffic Bangkok drivers are not that bad. I have driven here for 5 years with out incident, but have seen the odd car upside more than likely a 4.30 am drive home after drinking.

Go to Vietnam, you want to see some of the most idiotic drivers in the World they are it, I swear their necks have bolts in them so they cannot turn their heads. Drive on any side of the road, at least India drivers look occasionally they never do. I have even drove in India looks worse that what it is. Would like to know the stats in Vietnam will leave Thailand for dead.

Also if they drove in Thailand they would not last 5 minutes maybe some of the deaths are Vietnamese trying to drive in Thailand.

  2. Hey this guy is not an Aussie, he is infact Irish, although most of our hertiage is from there. How our Government gave this idiot Australian citizenship is beyond me. How long was here in Australia not a hint of an Australian accent. Send him back to Ireland and take his Australian passport off him.

  3. There is always going to be different views in Society and the conflicting argument here seems to be who has the majority.

People act in certain ways and after the reds protest and the way it was conducted (we cannot change what has happened) who would win.

There is over 100,000 members on this site from varying backgrounds and varying cultures, however if we were to Vote with the current 100,000 members on who should be in power. We are here because the majority either live, work, visit the great country called Thailand.

Reading all the views and notes on the site my bet would either be the democrats or the current government power in a landslide.

Anyone willing to take it up???

  4. Although Abhisit, was a bit slow to respond, the action taken was never the less correct. We can support sides and we can so how bad the situation was.

However think about what would of happened if this was New York or Melbourne or London.

Yes the Thai's were a bit inexperienced, but it is a growing economy and rule of law is some times missed, but in the end they got the job done. 100%, same amount of people coming into one of the above countries would be dealt with twice as harshly, you throw Moltov Cocktails at Army hmmmm would they shoot, of course. You threaten abuse police, same thing. Why does it not happen overseas, well because of the Harsh and Severe affect the offenders will be dealt with. A fact for too long the country has allowed these people to get away with, but it has to start some where and this does appear the beginning of that.

Every other country has gone through it, but they are the more western ones, these countries are catching up and should not be scrutinced by us the west, how easily we forgot situation from 100's of years ago, but helped and encouraged. Think the western countries had Amenesty International over ruling and ciriticising what they had done to get were they are, NO.

When you actually listen to how fanatical the reds are, I have lived here long enough, it is a long road but is moving in the right direction.

  5. Anyone see the latest CNN report ask Weng why is there a guy with a picture Holding a hand Gun His comments just a Home Made Gun is a protection gun, her comment, couldn't he kill people, no no no could only go 10 metres is just a protection gun not like the guns the Army has, What a Joke these reporters are to gutless to ask the questions about the Blacks Shirts their Assault rifles and Mate a Gun is a Gun and that was that.

Just sit in the Red Shirt area CNN and BBC and just show the army shooting and be kind don't grill them too much because hey you do know the "Blacks" are there and if you do your next on the list.

  6. Think it cannot last much longer, but really struggle with the CNN reports and others, no mention always of the "Blacks" in the red camp and the fact the are running around with assault rifles and killing, the reds just as bad they say they have no guns but just stand and watch these guys shooting at the soilders and even killing their own. No doubt if you have seen the poor young Thai guy being shoot in the head very obvious the shoot was behind and not where the army were and where all the focus of the Battle was, Everyone looking shouting left bullet definetly not from the left but right, consequently where they starting running back too.

If in doubt go to You Tube type search red shirt kill and many footages from inside the red area of the guys in Black.

This can all go back to the start when the first tried to break up the rally, then has just kept escalting. Can you really blame the government and soldiers when they are faced with this.

I cannot believe if the reds are so naive it is in full view of them, they must know, but just do not want to say, e.g. we do not get money, well plenty more footage of this, plus some people I know just went there early on and got money.

However with the situation inside too many deaths to go in, but more must be shown of these "Black" guys to totally discredited all the red leaders. Then let the innocent get out if not too brain washed aleady and clean the rest up.

CNN and BBC really have to start reporting some of this, or are they too scared as they will not be allowed back in the area where every international wants to see the action and they get the best audience, no one can tell me Dan Rivers have not seen these guys in the area, with the amount of time they are in there amount of footage floating on the web come on guys to some proper reporting not the one sided view.

I have a few concerns this week and looking at some trades on the table.

Hall, Maybe Brown not sure depends on his injury situation. Tippet has really annoyed me this year, but too low to trade now have to stick it out and Karkouer has been giving me grief.

  8. This just will go round and round and round to the point we are soooo dizzy no one really knows what the original agenda was. I do not have any affilation to any colour I totally disagreed with the Yellows allowed to infriltrate Bangkok Airport, Totally disagree with the current situtation of the Reds now. Even though I live in BKK our company has ordered all staff to leave until dispute rectified, even though it is no real trouble where I live. The government and Army has to act and not allow this to occur or it will just happen again and again and again. No other country in the civilised world would allow this to occur.

The situation has gone beyond any sensibilty the Reds only have one agenda Dissolve Government now or we do not go.

This however goes back to the Yellows and how the current government got to power pretty sure no election by the people, however the past is past and cannot be changed, but these are the consiquences.

Understand the corruption levels involved in the past, but every country has these issues and resolve them in better ways than the above.

If the country wants to remain like this who are we to judge in the end we do not invest and move to Vietnam (which we already did Thailand was deemed to unstable after the yellows) point proven this time around. To me Bangkok when not fighting will be a place I just come to party and forgot the rest until some government grows some "Kohunas" and stamps acts like this out.

    :)

  9. Thanks Mate great article on Ben Cousins, but there must be some more to it then we and others know.

Met him up at Kanchanaburi during the Anzac parade, we manage to play footy their every year and I must say after 10 minutes of conversation with him certainly the drugs had messed him around a fair bit. Great bloke however and one of my favorite players, even though I am a die hard hawks man.

I am hoping some one picks him up even though I think only six left in the picture, but with that kind of talent on offer there really must be other stuff happening you would be mad not to pick him up otherwise.

  10. This thread has been great to read, but I think it misses one defining point.

Hmmm will a western women ever talk to me again.

Thai women look after there men 100 times better than a western women would.

Now most western women may be up in arms over this, but it is a 100% fact. There obvioulsy are a few Thai women who do wrong no different to western women.

In general however Thai girls are miles on front of western women probably slightly over board, but I would feel most guys would agree on this :o

  11. Street smarts is an interesting question. In reality no taxi driver here really rips you off, 2.30am you need to get home normal cost say 140 baht for me, Taxi driver will up it to about 250 baht and pay free way, not a rip off you get home safely for 3 dollars more. Imagine what we would be paying out home.

Must say a little Thai really helps, at least they realise you have been here sometime.

Always remember how to get home.

    Safe in numbers

    thai friends help

Living the life here makes you understand how everything works.

I have read pretty bad stories here, but touch wood to date have never seen.

Bit of common sense never goes astray, and if you pay for something less then you would at home, then you will always be happy. Maybe I have just been lucky

  12. Must admit the same as Doza, only people trying to rip me off is the occasional taxi driver, but learnt very quickly on that one. My Friends and I have been absolutley hammered and no problems, Hmmm must be lucky, Anyway good reminder as I was even starting to get slack on the drinks when I hit the Hong Nam always left them behind.

  13. Real Golf

A man was at the country club for his weekly round of golf. He began his round with an eagle on the first hole and a birdy the second. On the third hole he had just scored his first ever hole in one when his cell phone rang.

It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU.

The man told the doctor to inform his wife where he was and that the he'd be there as soon as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up to be his best ever round of golf. He decided to get in a couple of more holes before heading to the hospital. He ended up finishing all eighteen. He finished his round shooting a personal best 61 shattering the club record by five strokes and beating his previous best game by more than 10.

He was jubilant, then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty he dashed to the hospital. He saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about about his wife's condition.

The doctor glared at him and shouted, "You went ahead and finished your round of golf didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself at the country club your wife has been languishing in the ICU! Its just as well you went ahead and finished that round because it will be more than likely your last! For the rest of her life she will require 'round the clock care. And you'll be her care giver!"

The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed.

The doctor started to snicker and said, "Just kidding! She died more than two hours ago. What'd you shoot?

  14. I must admit I am in totally amazement by this story, :o

Advice, hmmmm so many things I could say, get out is the simpliest.

What were you thinking, what were you looking for???

Must admit it bought a smirk to my face. Been here myself two months, and you have to admit there are a lot more prettier Thai girls then our western counter parts, but in reality not to have sex for a year, not understand each other at start and not communicate. Could never in my life work out how a relationaship could start.

Live and Learn, I know I have been everyday here, and please do not give my details to her Sister.

Must Admit enjoyed the story good read.

    :D

  15. First time ever have not been in Australia on Anzac day. I am glad a logged on today, makes me remember what the day is really about especially seeing the plaques for those who sacrificed so much. Working on today just does not quite feel right.

Hope all the old diggers are enjoying a beer and a game of two up. head em up boys
