  1. You no longer get the large sticker for the visa, just the entry and exit stamps and a stamp showing how long the stay is valid for. IO will ask to see onward ticket and how long you are staying. That is all that happened when I did it a few days ago. You get stamped in for 15 days on your passport.

  2. I believe that if you are a shareholder or director in a Thai company you no longer qualify to be in the Thai Social Security System.

Previously when the system was set up this was not the case, I think it changed a while back, possibly about 4 years ago.

By the way if you were registered on the original system, you can continue to pay into the system and use it. Perhaps one of law firms on TV can jump in and provide you with more details.

  3. Yes I agree, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the language setting to English on the new apple maps and I have seen some hotels that appear to have moved several streets over !!

I use the Garmin app on the new iPad and an iPhone 4, which have been updated to iOS6 and it is still working normally. You can input Thai or English depending on the settings and same with the voice directions.

  4. Unfortuanately another place that employs dual pricing. However on showing my Thai driving license I got the same price as the Thai's I was with. Okay for a nice day out. BKKdreaming is right you will get wet on the water rides so best to visit Snow Town before going on these rides. Unless you want to freeze !!

  5. I think the Fire Station you are referring to is on Soi 22, it is still there.

It's been a few years since I walked up Soi 24 but I recall a reasonable size fire station there at some point. Guess its gone now as they should have been able to repsond pretty quick.

  6. Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like the place will not re-open. Also thanks to the TV members who PM'd me with additional information.

Some confusion over what actually happened to the guy that was running it though. Some say he died in Thailand, some say in Ireland and other replies indicated he had just moved away !!

Whatever happened I think it is gone one way or another.

  7. I was in Chiang Mai recently and took a friend who wanted to buy some pottery to the place named in the topic. The place was closed and I am just wondering whether I was unlucky and it was a holiday or something, or whether the place has closed. There was no one there at all. It used to be run by an American named Richard if I remember correctly.

  8. Have been using Wireless IP cameras on my True Internet for over a year with no problems, however from around the 21st of this month have found that we cannot connect the cameras to our server. Did all the usual and found all the equipment we use works perfectly on TOT Internet. The True engineers have changed everything that could possibly go wrong at our end, but say they haven't changed anything on the network side. Anyone else out there experiencing problems with IP Cameras and True Internet ?

  9. If you are looking for a Notarial Services Attorney, we'd like to introduce you to Sunbelt Asia Legal Advisors.

We have six lawyers in our firm whose function it is to administer oaths, to attest and to certify, by his or her hand and official seal, certain classes of documents, in order to give them credit and authenticity in Thailand or a foreign jurisdiction.

In order to administer oaths and attest to the authenticity of signatures in Thailand, or to confirm copies of orginals, a Thai lawyer must be licensed by the Lawyers Council of Thailand and receive the certification to be a notary.

Sunbelt Asia Legal, under the supervision of Ms. Plyaphan Pongtiabrit, Office Manager and Senior Attorney (LLM. International Trade) has been certified by the Notarial Services Attorney to certify signatures and documents, and is licensed under certificate number 2762/2549. Five other licensed lawyers in our firm have also received certification to perform the same duties.

We feel being a notary should be a community service and that is why Sunbelt's professional fees for this service are the lowest in Thailand. You'll find most firms charge a minimum 1,000 Baht or higher. Our professional fee however is 350 baht plus 7% Vat for the official certification seal and the lawyer's attestation.

Sunbelt Asia Legal Advisors is a law firm established for five years. Our offices are at Fortune Town, 26th Fl., Ratchadaphisek Road, Dindaeng District, Bangkok, 10400, Thailand.
