  1. Could it be I'm an expert at this? I got my girlfriend a tourist visa..........now we are married and living in the UK. Next I helped her friend visit her boyfriend and that went well to.

No, I'm no expert but I do have 1st hand recent experience. You need to send her a letter asking her to come and stating that you will fund the trip. She will have to get in touch with this office in BKK...... this is the link... http://www.vfs-uk-th.com/index.aspx ....and ask what they require. They will require for instance proof of your earnings, 6 months payslips etc, but they will tell her just what. Ask for two to three weeks and later (if you want) you can extend it to up to 6 months because the Visa will be for 6 months.

The office in BKK is very helpful and your girlfriend will be able to talk to someone in Thai. They are 100% genuine and connected to the Home Office, you will not be charged a fee only for the Visa.

    I hope all goes well,

  2. I just told the wife about this "news", and she asks why it is not being reported on TV? Then I log on to here and see it is merely a rumor. Passing on rumors this way is not very helpful, in my estimation, anyone can dream up stuff like that. Let's see what happens tomorrow, huh?

I would take anything ripped from The Nation's website with a grain of salt. I worked there for two years after many years as an investigative reporter in the U.S. They're standards for writing articles are quite low. I had many run-ins with reporters trying to write one-source stories based on an interview with an "anonymous" source. The paper is getting worse these days having laid off the majority of its foreign editors and pared down the local staff to a skeleton crew.

I would think if you were an investigative reporter you'd be able to spell. Their standards for writing an article, NOT They're. They're is an abbreviation for They Are.

Anyway, we will all see tomorrow.

  3. You will need (to get your friend a tourist visa)

    (1) Proof of your Divorce if you have been married

    (2) A letter from two friends who know about your relationship stating you are a good person and they know you have a relationship with a lady from Thailand. This needs to be accompanied by proof of their ID copy of passport or driving licence.

    (3) Proof of you job and salary (Letter from your employer)

    (4) 6 months pay slips

    (5) Keep itemised phone bills (ring this number for 1p a minute calls to Thailand....08448612121 from UK)

    (6) Keep Yahoo messages MSN messages and all emails.

    (7) When you apply for a tourist visa ask for two weeks and book the return flight. (if you get on and want to, you can change the flight and she can stay for 6 months)

You are trying to prove it is a genuine relationship and you can pay for the trip.

After this the next step is get married in BKK and apply for a marriage visa (she can start work as soon as she hits UK soil) (cheapest option)

    Good luck!

    Robin
