  1. My gf is a scientist and associate professor with a PhD from KU. Her passion is teaching and hope to impart her knowledge through teaching. She is now a lecturer, administrator and Assoc Dean with Burapha U for the last 6 years since graduating. Her last drawn is less than THB30000. It's only her passion that kept her in the job.

  2. " ...Many Thai men are hypocritical, said Virada, as they use the service of sex workers and push the notion of prostitute to elevate themselves and degrade women at the same time."

Could also be said, "Many Thai people are hypocritical, as they use the financial support of farangs and push the notion of farang=kohn-mai-dee to elevate themselves and degrade farangs at the same time."

    ( Welcome to our world. wink.png )

Please be informed that without farangs, the Thais and Thailand can still survive and move on. Do not carry yourself so highly. It's the farangs who want to come to Thailand. Please have some decent respect for the country. Anyway if you feel you are short changed, you are always welcome to look elsewhere.

  3. More "income" is rolling in... and this "law" will be exploited merciless to the fullest extend

Foreigners are the main target... MHO

As a foreigner if you think you are always being single out and feel unfair, move out and look for some place that you feel please. Otherwise just zip up your mouth. Speak something more constructive than yakking on irrelevant issues.

  4. I can not understand why everyone needs to blame Taksin.(no one in the foreign community realizes what Taksin really did for this country...now he's angry, and he will have his vendetta, the government WILL NEVER stop him)...

If we remember right, they declared Marshall law when he was out of the country... which in my opinion lacks backbone to face someone and charge them publicly...

They never had the b***s to charge him publicly... they did it behind his back... now.. we have what we have...

Yet, everyone complains about red, yellow, blue idiots... but what about the people? don't the people have the say?

That is true democracy... a government by the people for the people and of the people... not of the upper elite corrupt people... that is not of the people... that is the people who belong in prison... and if u condemn taksin to prison, then i think the who political system with policeman, government office and teachers/directors(government) truly belong there for their corrupt control of power. So I think Taksin has a lot of company to join him... if this is where the whole matter belongs.

stop corruption then u stop the problems... but until EVERYONE realizes that this country is in the shizz...

I'm glad the Asean conference see the loss of face of a face lost country... now, rebuild with some quality in in mind.

Remove all the government people from their jobs, put them out, then u will start having an effective system that maybe can manage itself.. or put the fear of god into those hurting this country instead of trying to steal, cheat all the people, foreign and domestic that is around...

So good, red is stirring it up... maybe we will have a solution.

I hope the dumpster is ready...

    Well said.......among so many messages

  5. it seems as if the lunatics are now running the asylum.

a few minutes before the statement a red shirt leader spoke to the press from the lobby of the royal cliff hotel that they had stormed , saying that the government had one hour to arrest the men (blue shirts)who shot and wounded a taxi driver or they would storm the meeting itself.

    i find it unbelievable that

    1. the govt. chose to hold this meeting in a location like pattaya , so easy for the protesters to get there and assemble.

    2. that the police and army could not secure the area where the meeting was to be held and prevent this disruption.

    3. that the hotel security was breached so easily.

it is as if they wanted to let the red shirts win the day.

its very embarrassing for the country.

Ordinary Thais wont like this red shirt action

Guess they prefer the Yellow shirt then......

  6. Quite sad, really. Is there a law against 'organizing a sex party'? Other than the porn and maybe the pills, I am not sure what law was broken.

they got busted for taking excessive viagra tabs - and not inviting the local police commander -- serves them right - and that is no way to treat nice Thai ladies - fancy exposing them to this sort of terrible behaviour - no wonder farangs have a bad name - :o )))

I echo that sentiment - farangs have a bad name

  7. Police to launch psychological warfare to weaken public support for PAD

Sources from the meeting said the meeting assigned chiefs of all stations to launch door-to-door psychological operations to tell Bangkok residents not to join the rally at the Don Mueang Airport and at the Government House. They will also be told to convince their relatives to leave the airport and Government House as soon as possible.

The police are finally doing something and nobody is getting hurt. :D

    source: http://nationmultimedia.com/breakingnews/r...newsid=30089697

By psychological warfare they surely mean turning off the signals for the soap operas? That will make them go home.

:o Now that might just work :D

Whats after the airport then?? The BTS/MRT or Railway station?? Sea ports?? After this episode will it end??

  8. "Govt to enlist help from Thaksin if coups staged

The government will enlist help from former prime minister Thasksin Shinawatra if a coup is staged against the administration, government Spokesman Natthawut Saikua said Friday.

He said thaksin would make phone calls to direct the resistance against the coup on around-the-clock basis.

"If a coup is staged, thaksin will fight against it along side with Thais. He can make phone calls to us 24 hours a day," Natthawut said.

    The nation"

Isn't that outrageous? The Government threatens to use the help of a fugitive to create more unrest in the country?

This threat is criminal and should be brought to court. Not only that the government did not arrest Thaksin when filling divorce....

I was most of the time neutral but now it goes to far. It would interesting to know, what the army thinks about those statements!!!

This government continues to prove it is unable to govern, and its only concern is Thaksin and nothing more. They continue aiding and abetting a wanted criminal on the run.

So....should we say long live PAD???

  9. Civil war - thats the best option!

Machete's and elephants at dawn. Spectators welcome.Seeing as the PAD has both airport why not have both sides fighting on the runways - you already have the stands for viewing.

Thailand poilitics are so so laughable that its only inevitable that this is happening. It's to do with the nations childish psyche, the lack of accountability, men being over pampered by Mummy and Grandma. The superficial smile, man I don't trust no one who smiles all the time.

After living in Thailand for 15yrs,I know I made the right decision taking my wife,2 kids back to England - how can you build a future on sand!

Good luck to you all,get you kevlar jackets ready..............Thailand is DOOMED!

    lb1

That's right....we all have our option. It's a wake up call for all of us (foreigners), to reconsider whether it's worth to continue to live in a lawlessness country and a nation fill with childish administrators. We dont even know what is the future of this wreck nation. The Thais have gotten use to this sort of current situation, lets leave it to them to solve or dig their own problem. Why should we be so uptight with the current situation, make use of our option.

  10. ... Never happens in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Bangkok airport is more like something out of a bad movie.

    Terrible!

you are joking right?? KL is an absolut nightmare for taxi scammers. Have you ever been to KL?. Give me BKK taxis over KL anyday...

Not correct. I travel Phuket to LCCT (KL low cost terminal) almost weekly. Turn right out of the arrivals hall, buy taxi coupon at desk. If you have several people or big bags, they will insist on a larger 'premium' taxi, otherwise a standard 'budget' taxi is fine. MYR 60-odd to downtown KL. Ho hassle, driver's tricks, or tip expected.

KLIA, the main international terminal does sometimes have problems, true. The answer is to ignore all touts and buy direct from the airport counter. The prices are fixed, and reasonable.

in all fairness, alls well in both the KL airports but not in KL town, where most taxis wont turn on the meter. Singaporeans are obedient, meters all the way, otherwise they will be fined, suspended and/or put in jail.

  11. Some 300 taxi drivers block road to Suvarnabhumi Airport

SUVARNABHUMI: -- Some 300 taxi drivers block roads to Suvarnbhumi Airport on Thursday to protest police who they said arrested them for not using meters when being hired to go out of Bangkok.

The blockage of the roads to arrival and departure lounges which are on the second and fourth floors respectively forced many people both Thais and foreigners to get off their vehicles and walked to the lounges.

    -- The Nation 2008--0-02

hulala.....anybody or organization can go on strike or demonstration in Thailand and yet go scoot free. just wonder whats next?? truly another sad day for Bangkok or Thailand's image.

  12. Didn't international observers as well as countries like the USA declare the elections to be "free and fair"?

How "free and fair" was rule under the military junta?

    More so than under Samak?

    Don't think so...

Yeah.....saying that, how come the PAD didn't stage any protest during the last military junta rule?? Economy was not well, industries are not moving ...........maybe the country should invite the military to rule again, at least there is peace.

  13. The Thai electorate is changing. There are many thai's out there that will not tolerate corruption and cronyism in their government. Unfortunately many thai politicians do not realize this, after all they get elected even when people know that this is what they are like., look at yongyuth the refrigerator.

The problem that has faced the last two elected governments in Thailand is that this minority is vocal and prepared to do what is necessary to bring down a government they see as corrupt.

What is needed is a new generation of politicians that realize that politics in Thailand is no longer the easy path to unearned riches it has been in the past. And it does look like the courts are going work their way though Thailand's politicians until they have a set who are less obviously corrupt.

The current electoral system does not help. The costs of an election campaign seem to fall on the individual candidate with little help from their party. At best this encourages the view that becoming elected is a financial investment that requires a financial return and at worst creates politicians who are owned by the people who financed their campaign.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't the current prime minister been accused of organizing pro government gangs that beat and killed anti government demonstrators in the 1970's?

Corruption? Lets be more candid, just ask ourselves this simple question, who in the largest employment firm (the government departments) are not corrupt? Fighting corruption starts from the young, the education system and the character development brought about by the parents, not just bringing down a government. Singapore a nation of 4.5million todate, started fighting corruption way back in the 70s. Today they are proud to be listed as one of the top least corrupt country, but doesn't mean corruption don't exist.

  14. I am a firm supporter of PAD and the protest....

    ....

The most peaceful outcome would be for word from on High to come down for Samak to find life elsewhere. I thought it would after his visit to Hua Hin last week.

But that word DIDN'T come. After that meeting, Prime Minister Samak was even more resolute about staying but committed to use restraint in dealing with the pad. Something to consider.

The government is elected by the public. The cabinet is only a few months old. Why pick on these individuals? Just because they are related to the previous government? If that's the case, no amount of election will satisfy the PAD, as long as there is still a single individual related to the previous government that still exist. BTW who is this PAD, who claim to champion for the country and King, why are they not selected to form the government? Just pray all these mess will be over soon, and lets continue to live in peace.
