  1. Yes - was at the Lamphun office a couple of months ago (August) and same same for me - IO required 2 sets of EVERYTHING, including written forms.  I presumed it was just a one-off thing, as the staff had changed since my last visit. Seems it's perhaps one of those "new requirements" that pop up all of a sudden without any apparent reason or warning - and will possibly disappear again just as quickly.

I'd also booked an online appointment for 10am but the staff didn't seem to know what an "online appointment" was (or maybe didn't care). He just nodded me away to take a bog-standard queue number and I had to wait my turn, like everybody else.  No big deal, really, as there weren't that many people waiting.

Otherwise, everything went rather as expected (slowly!) and I was out of there again after around a couple of hours.

Kind of like the UK Tories last week, give them enough rope, and they'll hang themselves.

The problem with Prayuth, like Boris, is that the next possible picks are going to be much much worse...

Oh dear - I'm pretty sure you missed an 'r' in 'picks'.....

  3. ^ Lucky you. I didn't get any "barcode" at all - all I got was the opportunity to view the training video yet again (loop?). Also, the first question was asked well before the subject was even discussed in the video - discussion in Thai, too. Don't know how people with very little Thai knowledge can manage at all.

The lady at the licence office didn't flinch at all when I told her about the barcode problem - she just made a digital one on the spot for me. I had all the lesson proof needed on my smartphone - screenshots of stuff from the video.

  4. Sheesh! I do hope that Bangkok is NOT the (only) calling place in Thailand. I live way up-country, very far from BKK. It would def be mighty bothersome for my partner to have to worry about what may or may not  be occurring in far-off BKK, while trying to sort out my personal effects and all the running around and masses of paperwork that are undoubtedly required.

Unfortunately, I can't guarantee popping my clogs in a hospital....????

  5. To Sharecropper - no further info from anyone, I see.

Yes, it would definitely be great to know more about the procedure and timeframe regarding the "Consular Letter".

I presume (but don't know for certain), that it can be requested via an email to

    [email protected]

I have already prepared such an email for this purpose, which requests release of my body and includes my passport details and my partners Thai Id, passport copy and phone number.

Again, I presume that the Consular Letter is an official 'release of body' authorisation. If so, how does the next of kin receive it (i.e. via email?) and what does he/she actually do with it - take it to the police or mortuary (or wherever)?

Anyone have any info or advice of the above?

    Thanks  ????

  6. Yes, much the same sort of problem I was having, after recently installing Linux Mint 20 on a desktop - I just couldn't get the wifi to work at all. Ended up installing Mint 19 - seems installing earlier versions can often help the problem (but no guarantee, at all!).

I am using a wifi usb adaptor - and even now the wifi occasionally doesn't connect at startup, though I find it usually helps just to remove and replace the usb adaptor again - then it connects without any further problem.

Good luck solving your problem ,,,,,

  7. Thanks for the info - much appreciated. Was at Lamphun Immi just a few days ago - naturally nobody there mentioned anything about moving - and no info posted on the walls about the move. Looked on the website, too - no info there, either (when I looked, that is - things may have changed since then).

Anyway, good to know - and have passed the info on to others.

Buggered if I know exactly where the new place is, tho! Even the wife couldn't guess 100% from the map.  Oh, well......

    Cheers

    Thanks - much appreciated.  ????????

Just write "arial" (without quotes) in the first box, leave the second box empty and press"Apply".

Don't forget to refresh the webpage after changing.  ????

    Hmm...emojis don't seem to be working... so <thumbs up> and <smiling face> to you.

  9. Same problem here - no Ch 3 (and some other channels, by the look of it) - this on a GMM-Z (satellite dish) box. Tried "rebooting", using the remote and pressing 9988, which is supposed to reboot the signal(s) to the box. No change after this attempt - still missing the channels. No problem with the same type of box in our other house - all channels working. Weird ......

    Anyone have a work-around?

  10. Thanks for the quick replies - much appreciated.

To answer a few questions and comments - yes, I live very remotely and there's no "battery store/shop" here. The last battery I wanted had to be ordered from a store quite far away - from 'wherever', and which took a couple of weeks. Also, I'd like to avoid as much contact as possible with the locals at  the moment - due to Covid possibly rampaging around the area just now.

Two days ago one scooter battery was dead as a dodo (6.x V), daughter forgot to switch off ignition.

Is that a sealed gel battery - or a normal top-up one?

Yes, I've noticed the "ready for use" notice on some online sites/stores, but have no idea if that means that the battery is already fully charged - or just means it doesn't need "filling up"..

I simply want to push a button, start the bike and go riding.

    Yep - same here!

As I understand things from members here - if I order a GEL battery, then it'll already be charged before I receive it, though obviously I'll have to contact the seller before buying, to be (reasonably) sure.

    Thanks ????

  11. Sorry, I know next to nothing about batteries .......

I'm thinking of buying (online) a SEALED GEL BATTERY for my scooter, this kind being the type that is NOT TOPPED UP with distilled water.

My question is, does this type of battery need CHARGING, out of the box - and before mounting on the scooter?
If so, then (roughly) how long should it be charged?

Actually, not having to charge would suit me best.....

    Battery Examples : FB Battery FZ5L-MF 12V, 5AH   and   GIANT 12N7L-BS 12V, 7AH

    Yes, I have 2 scooters.

Thanks for any useful info.  ????

  12. Thanks for the reply....

Yeah, androidtv system does sometimes prevent you from doing what you want to do - though it IS possible to install a good many "normal android" apps that function very well - and I rather suspect that perhaps there's such a "normal android" Nav Bar app that would actually work on the Mi Box. The problem is finding the correct app, eh.

Still, let's hope someone has an/the answer.

    Cheers  ????

  13. Yup - would like to have a Navigation Bar (with at least Back, Home, Recent buttons) on the screen bottom, that you can slide in and out of view, as per a more "normal" TV Box. Tried a few from Playstore, by sideloading them onto the Mi S4 and hoping that one would at least function, but none of them did. The Playstore version on the Mi Box doesn't show any Nav Bar apps at all (that I could see).

Yes, I know I can use the remote for that sort of thing, but I tend to mostly use a mouse to navigate around, so a decent Nav Bar would be extremely useful.

Hmm - any of you guys have any success with installing a functioning Nav Bar on a Mi Box S4?

    Thanks for any input ????

    Cheers

There are loads of tutorials on you tube on how to set up a guitar re action etc. I learnt a lot including truss rod tensioning to straighten neck. Even if you don't play it much it will be nice to look at !!

Don't play mine much because I also have 2 acoustics but fancied a little electric after a break of 35 years.

Hope it arrives safely and is as good as it looks. I guess you must already have an amplifier. If not the NUX mighty light is a great amp for the money.

    Wow - neat amp!! ????

But yes, I already have an amp from way back when and currently connected to my Yamaha keyboard. The guitar finally turned up late yesterday - quick service, I must say. Kudos to that seller, he certainly doesn't drag out the time. A great guitar - almost like the real thing, though the strings aren't perhaps the best or most expensive. It was well packed and the carrying bag was a nice touch, along with the cable, a plectrum and string-height adjustment key. I found a free and excellent app on the playstore to tune the guitar and it sounds pretty good - only able to play a clean tone with no added effects at the moment. Still, I'm waiting for more accessories (from China, I guess), before I can use it properly.

I've ordered a Mosky 4-in-1 stomp box - which doesn't come with a 9V adapter - and I've no idea what might be an appropriate adapter, nobody seems to recommend one, either. I guess I'll have to wait and see the Mosky and try to figure it out from there.

I was rather expecting the guitar action to be higher than I'd wanted, but at the moment I'm well pleased and will be patient until my fingertips are used to the guitar. Maybe then I'll lower it very slightly - maybe not.

One thing's certain - I'm knocked dead by all the stuff (free and paid) that's available via the internet to help you on your way. YT is a boon and my best friend for learning new things. Hell, there was nothing like that when I first picked up a guitar decades ago. You had to pay a small fortune for a crappy songbook with songs written in weird keys and with chords that were virtually impossible to play.

Yep - looking forward to getting started - and again, many thanks for your recommendations and interest. ???? ????

    Cheers
