    I found gov hospital great. Hernia is very common operation so most hospitals will do. If someone can recommend a good surgeon great. My personal opinion try to get a VIP room if you have family and does give you privacy. I stayed outside the main wards with only a few non serious patients which was fine. Bit crowded in main ward. All the nurses asked if I wanted VIP room. All taken as I only had 1 day notice. I think cost would be ok.

    My second day after  op now  have a little pain but not too bad, walk around the house and go to bathroom fine. 

    Good luck getting it sorted out, I am happy not worrying every time I got a twitch that hernia was getting worse.

    Middle of Feb I found I had 2 hernias either side of crutch. They push back in place easy enough so I thought to leave them for a few weeks,  I felt very sick one day and got drive to medium size private hospital in Rayong. Got omitted and had ex rays etc and then got told I had a strangulated hernia. Few more tests and they decided I was too sick and sent me too Bangkok Rayong hospital. They informed me price would be 2 to 300000 baht. I was at his stage being sick every 20 mins. to be fair to  the hospital I was very ill BP over 200 lungs a bit messy from smoking till 10years ago. not exercising and have gone from 70 to  55 kilos in 3 months,warned there were slight risks and  was rushed to surgery at 3 am , woke up in icu and spent 3 days there. I had private room with wi fi booked for Mrs etc. Everything was all very good there and enough  English was used. No pain at all from operation as long as  I not cough 5th day went home. Had to gone back to Hospital a few times to see heart ,lung and surgeon.  Now 3 months later  all well with that hernia. Total  cost bht300000

    Decided to find a local Doctor to sort  out long  term bp . Went to small clinic at Ban Phe  with 1 Dr running it. His English was very good Changed my bp pills, which were causing me lot of problems with dry and sore lips. Cost of Dr and 2 weeks supply of pills, 3 types of pill Bht600. 10 mins wait for Dr. I  seen him every 2 weeks. Bp is now about 130 85.

     Spoke to him about my second hernia and he said when Bp was lower from 170 when I  went see him  would see about operation. I have found out he is a surgeon  and works at Rayong hospital. last went to see him for check up last Tuesday . He said Bp was good now would I like to go operation. He asked where I  wanted to go and I  said Rayong government hospital. I am now back home after operation Bht23000. He was my surgeon. No pain if I don,t cough or move around too much. So far 2 operations in 3 months and no painkillers at home.

    There is a big difference in hospitals.one is very flash Dr,'e in posh offices with lot of  nurses running aound. gov. hospital practical and up to 2 hours wait for things. Dif in price I would do a lot of waiting. No private room free so I stay in a recently 10 bed ward where lifts are. Was great. 6 patients there and 4 beds used by families.  2 guys spoke English and a few of the nurses. Mrs was with me so no problems. Was more  like a family ward, all the woman got on and everyone helped out  to go get food etc,  My Mrs knew 2 of the families of 2 patients. 

    So if you like a lot of care and attention ,very nice rooms. etc go  to the private hospital. if you have the cash or insurance no problem. If money is consideration Rayong hospital was great and would be my choice. If you booked in advance I think private room is ok.

    I  was given choice of general anesthesia or needle in back. Dr choice was needle. Awake the whole time, just had to stay lying in bed for a few hours, was interesting.

    Only saw thais or  Asians in  the Gov hospital, but most were smiling and waiting a bit was no problem.

    So have now instructed family always take me Government hospital. I am 70, lived here 12 years. with large  thai family in area.

    been watching  Netflix for last 2 hours , perfect. Netflix thailand

    I speedtest  Perth using internode isp ping 86 dl 57 up 10  50/20 tot fibre

    speedtest  Perth using Telstra isp ping 255 up 26 dl 4

    speedtest Perth using optus isp    ping 335 up 14 dl 2

    checked internode again  ping 79

    seems problems could be with isp in Australia and probably other places too?

    Ban Phe Immigration Location

    Just did my 90 day and extention of stay for 1 year (retirement) at Ban Phe. At the tourist police office just down from Tesco.

    Took 25 minutes to do both and 90 day only needed passport and tm47 form

    They have been going there since February on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from about 10 am till 1 pm.

    They did not know if they will still be doing it next year though.

    I am not aware of a Immigration office in Ban Phe. Looking at the pinned topic on the Visa forum it only shows a location and info for the Rayong/Maptaphut office. That topic does not show any offices anywhere east of Rayong. Are you sure there is a Ban Phe office?
