  1. Was in a similar situation some years ago - ended up hiring a taxi driver that brought me to work and picked me up evenings for a fixed amount - was win-win for both of us - he got a guaranteed fare each day that almost covered his taxi rental, I got my commute problem solved.

The guy was very reliable, always showed up in time, no fuss at all and on top he got a lot of lucrative fares for friends I recommended.

  2. Not being able to use DDNS in Thailand is usually not a problem of the router firmware.

Google for CGN (carrier grade NAT) and contact your provider that you want to be assigned a proper public IP instead.
You need to talk to a proper technician, the  customer service agents on the phone regularly have no clue about this.

Some providers charge additional fees for that (AIS afaik) some do it upon request (True, TOT)

  3. Sounds more like the usual renovations / refurbishings.

Anyway, don't use them anymore since I signed up for Priority Pass -

the service is more or less the same but the lounges are mostly empty

plus you have access to 600+ lounges worldwide, no matter what airline

or frequent flyer program you use.

  4. I think the question he has now is that if they do not stamp your passport to void your extension of stay, then how does immigration know that you no longer have the work permit?

It does not sound like dept of labor and immigration are connected, so how would immigration know unless your passport was modified when you no longer have your work permit?

Or maybe they are connected. Maybe the labor department sends something to immigration? Then when you leave, they would see something in the computer?

    Right - that's exactly my question !

    Anyone knows on that ???

  5. Leave as soon as possible. I had a similar situation 1,5 years ago and had to leave within 7 days. But as jstumbo mentioned the rules seem to be different now ( I have no clue though )

Yep, that's what makes it so confusing - I had the same situation once also -

but that time the visa in the passport was stamped 'Void' and clearly mentioned

that I have to leave within seven days.

However, this time there is no stamp/entry whatsoever in the passport -

so I figure that the actual status is unchanged which should entitle me to stay

at least until I have to report for address notification on 23.07.2008

  6. Hi there - here is the situation - hope somebody can help me on that:

    - I applied for a work permit with a Multiple B Visa long time ago

so the Multiple B is expired -got a Visa extension up to 16.08.2008

    - reported for notify of address at immigration at 24.04.2008

next notify of address latest on 23.07.2008

    - quit the job and returned workpermit on 01.05.2008

So when do I actualy have to leave the country ?

    - Tomorow (Seven days after contract finished)

    - 23.07.2008 (when notify address need workpermit)

    - 16.08.2008 (when visa expires)

My employer couldn't tell, the immigration officer said I can stay until visa expires

but honestly I can't believe that as I formerly had a BOI Visa where I had to leave

    within 7days of contract termination.

As I see it I can at least stay until I have to report for address notification

but I really want to be clear on !

And one more thing: can I just leave the country or do I have to produce

any paperwork at the airport regarding termination of employment ?

  7. Finaly I got It !!!

What they published in the magazine was wrong !

To got the stuff back to work I had to change in the

    setup menu (Manual setting)

    the LNB1 setting from 11300 to 11231.

Now everything works fine and even the sorting is as before !

  8. Reading from the UBC website (now at www.truevisionstv.com), the channel re-numbering applies to DStv and CAtv (digital) only. The website gives pictures of the receiver units, so you can visually check if your UBC cable is affected (which it sounds as if it has). Also, there are instructions on the website on how to manually tune the receiver units. The website also gives channel descriptions on what is supposed to be where, and the channel locations are different from what you describe above.

In my case, I finally did get to talk to someone and they found that the manual tuning exercise didn't work for me, so they are sending someone out.

    Good luck.

Same to me - I followed the instructions in the magazine - now I lost all channels !!!

Tried to contact UBC for hours without success ...

Can anyone check the actual settings of the sat-receiver ?

    (Menu / Setup / Installation / Enter password: 2321 / Manual Tuning)

I need the settings for frequency, symbol-rate.

    Thx
